Lovely clean and well kept site. The owners were very friendly and are working hard to make this a friendly quiet site. The toilet blocks are cleaned twice a day and were really well looked after, with music from the local radio station piped in and electric points (free) for hairdryers etc.
Quite a good shop on site with loads of tourist information. Just on the outskirts of York and easy to find with a good bus route and boat into York (although didn't use either when we stayed). We were on the rally field not too far from the facilities however some campers who were at the bottom of the field used their car to travel to the facilities as it was a bit of a distance away. Also we were next to the road which could get quite busy and noisy during the day with only a hedge between our tent and the road - luckily it quietened down at night.
Lots of nice walks nearby with dog bins. Lots of signs on the site to enforce the 11pm quiet time and this was adhered to when we stayed. The site also require campers to recycle waste. Local pub does a full english breakfast for £2.99 between 9am and 10am (we didn't go as were not sure if dogs were accepted).

This site is perfect for site seeing around York. There is a bus service right on the door step which is reasonably priced. The facilities are excellent with a well stocked shop clean toilets and showers and neatly kept grounds. A Short walk to the locks is a pleasant way to end an evening. Will definitely be returning.

What a fantastic site, near to York, great little pub in village with button poping meals and great beer. Site was well kept, only the birds to wake you up in the morning! Facilities kept very clean and the wife loved the easy to use showers with constant hot water. Will be going again.

What a site, fantastic. Great location for York and the surrounding area and there is even a bus service which stops right outside the site. Very clean toilet and shower block although could get a little busy at times together with a laundry room, camp shop, and a very well kept site, a perfect combination. No playground for the kids but plenty of space for them to run about. The owners are quite firm about the noise levels and request utter silence between 11pm and 7am, not a bad thing for a family site. The pub down the road, The Blacksmiths Arms, served food which was top notch, you can get a good meal from the varied menu at a reasonable price, would recommend a visit. I will be going back soon and will be looking forward to it. All in all a good site well located and has now become a family favourite for me and the clan. Oh and by the way the rain came as usual when we were leaving but hey, that's camping.

This site was reccommended to us and we were not dissapointed. We went with a party of eight and two large tents. The pitches were excellent, a good size, flat and well serviced if required. Peter and Catherine run an excellent and well organised site and are alway happy to help with anything. The site was very clean and tidy with plenty of water and rubbish point along with a number of recycling points.
The toilet block was spotless with a constant hot water supply. 15 mins from york town centre and 5 mins from shopping mall. A local pub in the village sold good ale and a wide choice of food including full English Breakfast if required.
Pitches were available without power should you require this. Adults only area should you require this but to be honest the site was extremely quiet and a very strict policy on noise after 11.00pm. Will definitely visit again.

We have just got back after a 4 night stay over the 2nd May Bank holiday. We were in a party of three caravans with 3 small kids and 2 teenagers between us, so we asked to be pitched together to make it better for the kids to be near each other. We were told they dont normally do this ( a max of 2 caravanans only, due to noise problems in the past ) However when we arrived we did have 3 pitches together just across from the shower block, the pitches were plenty big enough with loads of room around for the kids to run and play ball games.
The facilites were kept to a high standard. I have a three year old who is scared stiff of the showers and will only normally have a bath but the staff here let me use the disabled shower room for her, this was great as the shower head came off and I was able to shower at ease with out water going near her face ( 1st shower in a long time without any tears from her ).
The shop is also very good, stocking everything you would need from bread, milk, bbq food and equipment tin food, frozen food, tea, coffee, eggs, bacon, newspapers, caravan and camping equipment, calor gas, sweets and a few kids toys.
There is a pub just a 10 min walk away, with great food and great lager. A bus stop is just at the entrance of the site if you fancy going into York or you can go on the river boat
The only down side to the site is a bad smell near the toilet block, and no kids play area for older kids.
All in all a very good site and great owners.
I will be going back sometime soon.

Where can we start!
Well we've been coming here for the last couple of years and spent nearly every weekend here last summer. We absolutely love it - peaceful idylic surroundings, central to almost everywhere you could manage to visit over the holidays, fantastic pub just a short walk away with portions to really 'stuff you out'!
The lock is a lovely walk for everyone and you can also catch the riverboat into York which is really good.
And to wrap it up, the site facilities are spotless, well stocked shop and Peter and Catherine are fabulous people.
Highly recommended.

What a pleasant site run by very pleasant people, toilets clean, shop well stocked, newspapers, bus right outside, riverboat if you wish ( £8.00 adults, £5.00 kids return ) nice to have a nosy round the locks and a pub doing good food up the road, what more could you wish for, and dead quiet insisted on after 11pm. Also a large tent only ? field and a football pitch size field to play with the kids, will go there again !

We stayed here at Easter so the site was fairly busy but the way it is laid out in different areas meant it didn't feel crowded. The ground was quite soggy but what can you expect in March in the UK? The owner does have a tractor to tow caravans off the grass so nobody had any problems when it was time to go home. The toilet block was always warm (even when it snowed!) and clean. We would definitely stay at this site again.

Extremely pleased with the cleanliness of the entire park including the toilet block (love the music too, nice touch) and close proximity to the lock. Pleasantly surprised with the 'Adults Only' section of the park also. Make sure you take a torch for the walk home from local pub after dinner. Would definitely come back again.
