Most of the previous reviews are spot on, we found the location easy to find, a cheerful reception on arrival, (the site was booked) our pitch had our name marked.
No noise (we opted for adults only section)large hard standing pitch and all at a reasonable price.
Bus stop outside site entrance, York - Naburn £2.40 single, return £4.10.
River trip Saturday and Sunday only (Thursday in school holidays) £8.50 return, £6.50 one way
The site shop sells newspapers, milk, bread etc.
Two local pubs (15-20 walk to Blacksmiths Arms from campsite) Food was good ( full English breakfast £2.99)
There is a recycling policy carried out, facilities on site have been well documented.

Visited this site without the kids at the beginning of this month and thought it was fantastic! We had requested the adults only bit if possible but there was no room, so we were put on the first field you come to - this was just as good as the adults only part as there were no kids there at the time we went anyway! The site does specifically point out in the advert that there is no children's play area and maybe this puts families off a bit - I don't know - and I'm not too sure if it would be the ideal place for us to visit with our 3 kids. I think there is a big tent field which would be suitable for playing games and things on in the middle. The site has a strict no noise late and early policy, but am unsure whether this is policed as when we returned to the site one night after 11, someone had a stereo blaring out which could be heard from the entrance to the park and no one seemed to be doing anything about it.
The site is barrier controlled, and is ideal for the bus into York, we went in on the 6 oclock one, had something to eat and a few drinks and then came back on the last bus. We also travelled by river boat into York on the saturday - this was about £14 return altogether for two of us, takes about an hour and 10 mins but you get the guided talk one way, really enjoyed it. Loved the music playing in the toilets, but have to say the showers were the shortest water flow I have encountered yet - counted 8-9 seconds before it stopped ! Very clean though. The couple that run the site are very friendly, and the shop seems to sell everything. If you are a couple wanting an ideal base for York and surrounding area - this is the perfect site, and we intend to return again, for families, not too sure if there is enough to occupy the kids.

Maiden voyage in our Motorhome with a broken ankle. Bit nervous as mobility was limited in and out of the van. When booking owners could not have been more helpful, I was even offered use of a family wheelchair during our stay.
On arrival for a five night stay we were shown various pitches and able to choose the best one to suit us and the dog. Wheelchair was produced and was able to use disabled facilities during our stay.
The owners were lovely and very welcoming, facilities were spotless and my Husband never had to wait for a shower. Site is very picturesque and York was very accessible from the site. A riverboat ran during weekends to York from the Lock and a bus route was outside the site. We will definitely go back when mobile to see the surrounding area.

Smashing site, nice big pitches and spotless toilet block. Had a lovely 3 nights here and there's plenty to do within easy distance. Food at the local pub was delicious and the dogs enjoyed the 'dog bar'! Enjoyed the walk down by the lock and along the river. Bus was only 10 minutes into York and the site brochure full of useful stuff. Will definitely be back again.

We have just spent a relaxing weekend at Naburn Lock. We received a warm welcome from the site owners who keep the shower/toilet block spotlessly clean as they are cleaned every morning and evening.
My only criticism is the showers are a push button and only last 10 seconds! Nevertheless, it is a great site if you want to park your car and leave it.
The pub is a 10 minute walk away and then there's the relaxing boat trip into York. If you've not had too much shopping in York, you're a 5 minute drive from the York Outlet Village.
This site really is fantastic. There is lots of birds to see and we met lots of friendly people. We're looking forward to our return visit next year.

Very clean and friendly site. Loved the adult only area. Local pub close by had great atmosphere and lovely food. Only downside for me was that the river boat does not run during the week out of the school holidays so my boat trip to York was out of the question. On the positive spent a lovely day at the Designer outlet a few minutes away. I will definitely return again and do the |Park and Ride into York.
Signposting within the site was very good was able to find everything easily. Showers cleaned regularly and you were made aware of these closing times so you could plan your toilet/shower times. Site was well organised I was not overlooked by the neighbouring vans(very well thought out indeed. The shop was very well stocked indeed with very helpful staff.

What can I say apart from a fantastic clean friendly site where the wardens make you feel so welcome.
Plenty of room between pitches and no extra charge for an extra car or visitors.
A nicely stocked shop and not too far from the local pub the black smiths arms.
The locks were fantastic to walk down and we had a lovely bike ride into York.
We will be booking to go back here very soon and at the moment rate it our favourite site

Just got back from a 3 nighter at Naburn. We had a fantastic time yet again on this site. Peter and Catherine do wonders here, and it is a pleasure to stay here.
On the website it said they were fully booked, and we turned up expecting the tent field to be full. But they weren't. All the tents were round the edge of the fields with plenty of space. There could be room for lots more, but the numbers are kept sensible. Toilets and showers were immaculate, never had to wait for a shower.
All in all a great site which we will be visiting again.

The on site staff are very friendly and helpful, in fact we broke down 2 miles up the road and they have let the RAC tow the van back to their site and we have left it until we get the car repaired (New Engine) Ouch!
The toilet/shower blocks are immaculate. We got a choice of any vacant pitch, all are large and grouped together 3 - 6 pitches with hedging in between, they also have an adults only section.
The pub in the village 'Blacksmiths Arms is lovely, did not eat there but the food coming out looked good. They do a carvery on Sunday and a barbecue and have a lovely beer garden and welcome dogs too. Cycle path into York about a mile away, we cycled to York and to Selby. York is better.
We will definitely be back, and not just to collect our van.

Fantastic everything about this site is beautiful. We caught the river bus into York £23 for a family of 4 return. The pitches are big and although no playground. Our two girls had loads of room to play and ride bikes.
We have been before and shall definitely be going again. We cant comment on any local pubs, we bbq'd both evenings. The park + ride is only a short drive away and easy to use.
