Stayed at this site for 4 nights. Owners very pleasant and gave us a lot of leaflets about the locality. Given the choice of half a dozen pitches but unfortunately chose the one that had a wasps nest under the caravan, but thanks to our neighbours who helped us push the van on to another pitch we eventually got sorted.

Bus stop to York just outside site entrance and buses run every hour. There is also a river bus but it had stopped at the end of September.

Blacksmiths Arms in the village only a 15 minute walk away does good food at a reasonable price.

The toilet block was spotless and the piped music was a bonus.

Down by the lock which is adjacent to tent field there is a field where you can let your dog run free, our border collie loved it. To summarise I think this site has every thing you may need and we will definitely be returning.

Lovely site situated on the River. Separate field for tents with electric hook up if required. Shower block excellent and a small shop that sells essentials. Friendly and helpful owners.

Can't comment on the boat into York as didn't use it, but the nearest Park and Ride is approximately 1 mile away.

Plenty of places nearby to visit ie; Castle Howard, Jorvik Centre, and a little further afield Scarborough and Whitby. The area is good for cycling if you are feeling energetic.

All in all a lovely well run site and one I would recommend.

Nice site set out in 'sections'. Grass not cut for a while near us which spoilt it a bit. Best to get a hardstanding. Very convenient for York + Park and Ride.

Would use again. We cannot understand why there are favourable reviews of the nearby Blacksmiths Arms. When we visited for a meal the entrance door and laminated menus were greasy, the seating and carpting grubby and the choice of food very basic. We should have left but ordered a meal against our better judgement. The food was just average.

One plus point - the real ale was good!

Spent a few nights at this well-run site.

Facilities clean and well thought out. As we were under canvas and eschew the hookup, we were placed in the camping field adjacent to the lock, well away from the road. This makes a lovely campsite, flat and well mown, marred only by being 20 feet under the high flood mark on a riverside building!

Excellent regular York bus stops outside - last bus 11pm, nice cycle along cycle path with Solar System!

Our only complaint was the incessant playing of local radio 24/7 in the loos. Indescribably bad on such a quiet site!

Gutted yes Gutted that we found this site too late for a return visit but it will have a few dates on our 2012 calender!

The site is a credit to the owners who were very friendly and most helpful at all times.

They are quite strict on recycling and noise levels which is no problem with us and we are quite happy to adhere to rules and regulations to help keep the site as lovely as it is.

The site shop is great and has all you need and even has lovely presents and cards etc should you need them.

Cant believe a previous reviewer moaning about the low music in the toilets! would he rather listen to what is happening in the next cubicle! The music is lovely and not at all intrusive.

They have thought of everything and it is very very well run.

Take a rug and a bottle of wine down to the lock and watch the world go by on a sunny day its lovely.

Don't think there is anything for children to do around the area, but as we didn't have any with us I wasn't looking, and you wouldn't want them going down to the lock on their own.

Take your bikes as there is a fab, all flat, bike ride to amble along (its the Pennine way I think) it runs from the village a few mins down road, You can go to York, (approx 6 miles)or if you are a keen biker Selby (approx 9 miles)

We took the York route but didn't quite make it to York as we veered off to 2 village pubs en route and then found a home-made pie shop that sold mince and mushy pea pies yummy! Still we might make it to York next time!

Village local nice with tasty home made pub grub and only about 10 to 15 min walk from site.

There is a bus stop at the entrance to take you to york and its not as expensive as previous reviews say, it was £2. 50 (adult fare)to York. To return back to camp site the bus stop is outside the marks and spencer 'home' store.

All in all its a fantastic site and I am very hard to please!

We went with friends and it wont be the last time for any of us

This was our first ever trip with all equipment begged and borrowed from friends. We loved this place (mum, dad 2 teenage daughters)

Warm welcome on arrival and relaxed atmosphere throughout the site. Good open field with view of the lock, spacious pitches so your not to close to neighbours. Plenty of room to exercise dog by the river.

Clean toilets and good showers with plenty of hot water, these were kept clean and tidy at all times. Laundry room available if needed. On site shop for basic essentials.

Half a mile walk to the pub where we enjoyed a lovely evening meal along with our dog(Doggie bar at the back of pub) Good selection of ales. We will visit Narburn Lock again to make use of the river ferry to York(Saturdays and Sunday) York maze through the school holidays is a good day out.

Walked into York on the old railway line(5 miles) and we returned on bus which stops outside campsite. Shopping at Designer Outlet. (approx. 2 mile)

Slight noise from nearby road into York.

Thoroughly enjoyed our first camping trip and will definitely return to Naburn Lock in future!

This was our first camping trip, we spent 2 nights in midweek at this site.

Our main priority was clean toilets and showers with sufficient quantity for the site and Naburn ticked all the boxes.

There were 4 showers cubicles and 4 toilet cubicles in the Mens and 6 of each in the Womens. Both had 1 private wash sink cubicle and 4 open area sinks.

There was plenty of hot water and the backgound radio / music was an added bonus. It drowned out the noises you would normally hear in a toilet area.

There are socket outlets for hairdries and straighteners etc.

The only downside was that the showers are the retractable push button type which had to be pushed every 15 secs.

The park was 3/4 full and we did not experience any waiting for the facilities.

There was a room equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and an iron. A covered external pot washing area which again had plenty of hot water.

All in all we were pleased and relieved with the standard of the wet facilities.

The park is situated around 4 miles outside of York. £10. 00 e/w by taxi or £4. 70 e/w by the local bus. The bus stop is right outside the park. There is also a boat trip into York which sets off at 9. 30am and returns at 4. 00pm on Thursdays and the weekends only. £9. 50 for adults with the usual reductions for children OAP's etc.

Naburn is a small peaceful village with 1 pub (10 mins walk) and not much else. The pub is good and friendly with 3 real ales and nice food but a bit pricey.

There are lovely walks around the area and down to / along the lock / river.

In the tent field the EHU pitches are flat but the non EHU are on a bit of a slope. Not too bad but noticeable.

The on-site shop is reasonably well stocked and has good local information. The nearest supermarket is around 2 miles away.

The owner is a typical Yorkshire lass, down to earth and to the point but friendly and helpful.

All in all a good site for our first experience and we would happily return.

Just back from a recent stay at this lovely campsite. The only negative point to mention would be the road noise from the adjacent B class road, which appears to be a short cut to York.

It was very busy early in the morning from about 0530, which becomes tiring after a while. The site itself has loads of room for tents and plenty of hot water in the toilet block, which was always immaculate. One nice touch was the radio within the toilet block.

The campsite is very handy for York, being only 4 miles away and the site is on both a bus route and river bus route to the city. A short cycle into Naburn village itself, and you can pick up the tarmacked cycle route to York and also Selby, which is great.

The cycle route is very child friendly and traffic free almost all the way to York and most of the way to Selby.

There is also a lovely pub in Naburn village only a short 10 minute walk from the campsite, which has nice food and real ale.

I would definitely return to this site but ask for a tent pitch well away from the road!

As previous reviews have said, this is a great site with adult only and family field. Close to the river Ouze, the lock and weir are 3 mins walk away - fishing available.

The local pub (The Blacksmiths Arms) serves breakfast at £2. 99 and has BBQ's on a friday night (£10. 00 with unlimited side dishes) and also on Sundays. It's about 10/12 mins walk from the site and serves good real ale circa £3. 00pp.

I found the toilets and showers always clean and the shop is well stocked with essentials. We will definitely return.

Just back from a brilliant weekend at this beautiful site. Its our 4th time here and we are always very pleased.

My brother joined us and he is a newby to camping and he really enjoyed it too.

We caught the bus into York for a full day of retail therapy and a few drinks along the way, then caught the river bus back. Its a lovely hours cruise down the ouse.

The facilities at the site are first class, as are the owners-they are really helpful. We shall be back, as will my brother and family. I rate it 10/10
