We have just returned from spending a long weekend here and once again we was not disappointed, we were to attend a veteran car club event at close by Newby Hall but due to the weather it was cancelled.
I phoned ripley site to make sure there wasn't any problems ( weather related) with the site and was assured that everything was fine. They were right, everything was fine, our hard standing fully serviced pitch was fine and no signs of being water logged. Close nearby grass pitches looked like they was coping extremely well with the weather as well.
Access to the site was via the tarmac drive way then along the tarmac road within the site, I was never worried about the weather and our outfit getting stuck (other site's we have been on, this weather would of made for a very different review).
Sat we had a 10 - 15 gentle stroll to Ripley to sample the ice creams and pies, again we were not disappointed.
In summary ripley caravan site very well run, layout is fantastic and access to pitches great, even when its busy.
Keep up the great work, it is noticed and appreciated.

This was a friendly site.
The hardstanding pitch was easily big enough for caravan, awning and car.
These are fully serviced including water/gray waste. That said the detail of the waste cap means that you have to supply your own coupler, as the pipe is the same external diameter as standard waste hosing i. E. It cannot fit. I suppose that was the erason we saw so many people using wastemasters on fully serviced pitches.
The playpark is good, and there is a ball games area and a basic indoor pool. There is a small ornamental landscaped pond and lots of big trees, but the layout of the site didn't use these to there best effect as you were very conscious of all the other caravans parked in straight rows. The toilets and showers were clean but are rather old fashioned.
The highlight of the site is the walk to and around Ripley, where for a small village there is a surprising amount to see. Whilst the National Trust have sites nearby, and Harrogate is also very close.

Good roads to this site, no little country lanes. I found the reception staff very helpful. We were taken to our pitch by a man in a buggy. The hard standings are large, nice and flat with water and drainage. A shame they don't have TV connections. Some hard standings have large chippings but ours was ok to walk on. Grass pitches run behind some hardstandings so if you have a caravan and family with you have a tent, they can pitch beside you.
The toilets and showers are very good. Ducks come from the pond to visit you, especially if you feed them. Good for children with the small swimming pool and playground. There is a separate sports field so larger children can kick a ball without hitting caravans or tents.
Ripley is nice with a large free car park, the castle, cafe and ice cream shop. Harrogate is close by. Knaresborough is well worth a visit, there is a good car park about five minutes walk to the market place. We hired a rowing boat on the beautiful river at Knaresborough.
If this site had a club/ bar or cafe and TV connections I would give have given it ten!

Lovely site, would recommend it.
We visited over Jubilee week and it was full, but it didn, t feel crowded.
Lots of amenities for the children. Toilet block clean and adequate.
It was a good site for visiting around about - Lightwater Valley, Ripon, Harrogate, Knareborough, all within easy reach.
A chip van calls on a Sat night, as would be expected - prepare to Queue!
The ducks and wild fowl wander freely around the site.
The only down side was the other campers walking straight across our pitch. Our guy rope for the awning was trod on several times, this was by adults as well as children. A fence would stop this.
Other than that we would recommend this site.

Stayed for 3 nights early June. 2 adults 1 8 yr old and 1 2 yr old for £21 per night. Good level hardstanding pitch with E. H. U. And water. Grass area can get a bit wet and soggy, but tent area seemed o. K. And was well populated.
Toilets and shower block clean with hot water no problem. Fair size play area for kids with ducks for younger ones to feed. Indoor pool not large but adequate. Charge £1 50 adult and £1.00 kids.
Short walk into Ripley, 2 shops, pub but not much else. Pass cricket ground on way with Sun morning car boot sale but not every Sun. Could not get all channels on Digi box but got good reception on ordinary tv
Warden and staff good and you will be escorted to pitch. Shop on site with decent stock of goods. Fish and chip van visits Sat about 5 pm but be prepared for a long wait to be served.
Handy for buses to Ripon or Harrogate. We would return.

First visit and will not be the last!
Lovely site, well kept and friendly staff.
Shower block has plenty of hot water for the free showers and are cleaned regularly. There is plenty of room between pitches which you are directed to and sited by staff upon your arrival.
The swimming pool was loved by our children and the only criticism would be that being April and cold outside maybe a bit of insulation be added to the building to keep watching parents warm. (Will save on energy bills as well)
Buses run every 15 minutes from stop 5 minutes away. Ripley village is an 8 minute walk away.
Overall a very enjoyable short break.

We decided to try this site AGAIN ! Our last visit was October 2008.
The site had change a little from last time we was here ! 4 years ago for the better we thought as well.
The site is larger than we remembered, pitch size was plentiful, more than enough room for caravan/awning/car etc. Price per pitch was fair, adequate size shop on site. Small arcade, small toddlers room for the kids to play inside (under 6) swimming pool £1. 50 / adult £1. 00 child which we thought was fine, changing rooms (but no lockers) no heating in the changing rooms so if its a cold day they will be very cold.
Location was very good and very easy to get to.
We have toured all over England and Scotland since being to this site, would we visit this site again? Damn right we would and it will be sooner than 4 years. Great site you will not be disappointed.

Great site, we found the staff to be very friendly.
The facilities were really good, toilets and showers were well tended to.
There was a games room, and an indoor pool however this was only OK. The pool was in an old corrugated roofed barn-type building and when getting out it was sub-Arctic. To be fair, the weather was rubbish when we were there so perhaps not absolutely fair.
The pitches were well tended too and the site was in a great position to explore the area.
Well worth visiting

Spent 6 nights here October half term, the site was full but never seemed too busy or overcrowded. On arrival the wardens were very helpful and showed us to our pitch, which was a very good sized hardstanding separated from the football pitch by a row of trees.
The children loved the play area and feeding the friendly ducks, was very pleased we weren't too close to the duck pond as it was very open and not recommended with a 2 year old!
The toilet block was a little dated but always clean and plenty of hot water
We went swimming and found the pool to be very warm however the changing area was freezing!
The shop opened twice a day for an hour in the morning and early evening, sold all the essentials
The chip van came on sat evening which was ok, massive queue and no gravy!
The site is located perfectly for visiting the surrounding areas, we had days out at
Brimham rocks, really good family day out, plenty of adventures for the kids
Mother shiptons cave and knaresborough, worth a visit, lovely village
Ripon market, didn't find much there but a really good pasty shop!
Blacksheep brewery, hubby loved!
Esholt (the original woolpack!) I loved!
And a day at stockeld park, a Christmas adventure set up for Halloween! quite expensive but a good full day out and well worth a visit.
Would definitely recommend and will visit again in the future!

What a lovely site, clean toilets and showers. The site has some pitches with waste/electric/hard standing which were very good. We never used the swimming pool but that looked good fun.
A shop is on site which sells most items that you could ever need, this is handy as Ripley village is small and only has one small shop and a butchers, the Ripley castle is worth a visit.
If you walk from the campsite which is about half a mile make sure you use the short cut through the field as there is no path on the road, this can get busy at times.
We spent a nice day in Ripon, we used our bus passes and the bus stop is just before Ripley village, buses go every twenty minutes to Ripon/Harrogate or Leeds.
Knaresborough is a nice town with lots of shops, we parked up and caught the train to York, very handy as it saves the parking problems in York.
We will use this site again next year, the area is very nice, and the campsite is lovely.
