A very large site, which especially at summer weekends is 'child-heavy'. At these times if you have no kids and want peace and quiet it's best not to be close to the playground, which gets hammered. They lock the gate to the playground at 10pm, but they just climb in over the low fence, and the closure is not policed. Other than that, it's quite a relaxed site ( few rules ), and well kept, close to the lovely village of Ripley. The pool is small but good. Shop is just small. There's a nice cycle way close by along an old railway line.

Duck pooh everywhere with stench to match! We've visited this site on a number of occasions in low season. The facilities are good and clean with excellent access and buses stop very nearby
However this time there seemed to have been a major influx of ducks and you could not avoid the duck pooh. This site needs to decide whether it is a wild life park for ducks or a caravan site.
My low overall rating is based on the duck problem

Fantastic site and have stayed here twice now but definitely planning on visiting again. I found the staff to be friendly and very hardworking, always emptying bins, cleaning and cutting grass. In fact that would be my only gripe is that some days the sound of lawn mowers and strimmers seemed a bit obtrusive on the peace and quiet.
I have read a few reviews complaining about the small shop and noisy kids play area but I found the shop to be adequate for essentials and there are larger stores a short distance away for those who need them. The play park is a great addition for those, like us, who have small children, (8 & 5) and we always try and pitch close to this area, there are quieter areas well away from the play area. The park closes at 10pm and the noise from the kids after this time is certainly a lot less than some inconsiderable 'adults' who seem to think it's the done thing to party all night long.
There is a pool which whilst small is impeccably clean and we used it every other day as the kids loved it, one of the staff checks the chemical levels every day and the changing rooms were warm, there is also a small sauna for the adults at extra cost.
The toilet and shower areas are among the best I have seen and the showers are free and the water is hot. The Elsan points are well designed and are also kept very clean.
The pitches are all of a good size and the whole park has a feeling of space and even when busy never looks like people have been crammed in. The static area is kept separate from the tourers which I personally like and there is plenty of pitching for tents both with and without EHU. There is a small pond with lots of ducks that do tend to wander around the caravans and can get under your feet at times but I suspect that this is mainly because people have been feeding them regularly for years, they didn't bother us but do remember to close your awnings as they do come inside.
There is a mobile fish and chip van that visits on a Friday evening and the meals are good value. Que early as it is popular.
Ripley Castle and the famous ice cream parlour are close by and there is a nice pub in the village that does meals but we preferred the excellent little cafe in the grounds of the castle.
I would highly recommend a visit but would say if you want a clubhouse with a bar and gaming machines to keep the kids occupied then it may not be for you.
Will most definitely be going back.

We've been to this site a few times now and we always enjoy our visits. The site is well kept and the facilities are well maintained and clean. There are bus stops about five minutes walk away that run regularly to Ripon, Harrogate and Leeds. The pitches are a little on the small side but they are flat and the site itself is quiet and peaceful.

Stayed here in the last week in August and left with mixed feelings really. The site itself was spotless and the staff were always working tirelessly to keep it that way. The toilets were cleaned regularly and the pool was small but clean and popular with our two lads. I think the problem for us was that there are a lot of statics on here and the kids of the owners seemed to run in packs, ours got a bit of stick from some of them for no reason, and it was difficult for our kids to mix with the others, although this has nothing to do with the park.
We went to visit the many ducks who were pleased to see we had food for them and we made good use of the volleyball net and the football pitch as we were pitched next to them.
The fish and chip van was very welcome and surprisingly good value for money, I would suggest you don't miss out! and the walk into Ripley was nice, I have to say though we have better ice cream in Scarborough!
The kids enjoyed the games room but I think the site may have benefit from a bar of sorts maybe. I am not sure if we would return but for the peace and quiet it is spot on.

We recently stayed there for 4 nights; the campsite is typical of most sites where most campers etc. Are very friendly. This is no means a negative comment but the site was very very quiet. The pitches were of a decent size but you will find you have to put your pegs in at an angle due to a thin layer of turf before you hit gravel. Allegedly the camping area is built on a filled in quarry. Other than the toilet block and the games room we used no other facilities so we can't comment on the pool or shop. On the subject of the toilet block, it was very clean and the wash hand basin water and shower were perfect temperatures. The only issue was its location to the tent pitches. When you get the urge to go then go, if you wait any longer you'll be fit to burst by the time you get there. I don't know if they have plans to build another small toilet block but it would be great. The site is fairly central for visiting the likes of York, Harrogate and Knaresborough. We walked into Ripley on our last night just after 6pm to find everything closed apart from the Boars Head. We don't get the what makes the Ripley Ice Cream Shop 'World Famous' as to us seasoned travellers we found the variety poor and the product distinctively average at best. We would recommend The George (Hotel) Carvery in nearby Wormald Green for its quality and staff customer service.

This site was fine, but I guess ultimately didn't speak to me. That's a purely aesthetic thing, and of course your mileage may vary, so I'll try to be objective, but ultimately, it wasn't for me.
Well laid out pitches, and seemed child friendly (though we didn't take any along!). Ducks were lovely and dropped a lot of poo (as they do). We enjoyed some lovely cycling from here, and it seemed well organised.
Didn't use the pool, but the facilities were clean and well maintained. The owners lent me an extension cable (with a deposit) as the hook up point was in a neighbouring parish.
It was all fine. Just not my favourite.

Lovely clean site, toilets and shower immaculate. Didn't use shop or see games room and didn't know there was a pool. The site is quite big and the pitches are large not cramped together like at some sites. Ripley village is only 5 minutes walk away. Very small and not much to see or do really. We went to the Boars Head pub in which we found hilarious as it was like being in an old peoples home, definitely will not be going in there again. All in all we had an excellent weekend but think it is more for the older end

Spent 9 nights at the site excellent shower block clean what ever time we went, quite and peaceful even when it was weekend and busier, staff ok although think they could of been a bit more helpful when we asked a couple questions they just said look in phone box, could of had a few more lights as once dark it was pitch black. Sounding areas really nice plenty to do and see and not a long way to go either. Cannot comment on swimming pool and games room as it was just me and hubby and we never bothered going in them

Spent a weekend here and not a lot to say that hasn't been said already.
OK location. Some great local pubs in the area and Knaresborough very nice to visit.
Good kids facilities including swimming pool.
Tidy and clean site.
Friendly and helpful wardens.
Ducks are everywhere and didn't bother us, but can understand those with kids can get annoyed with mucky shoes etc.
Pitches did seem to vary. Ours was ok, but others looked very close to one another.
Lots of statics around and what looked like permanent tourers.
Dog walk area very limited but maybe local walks accessible that we didn't spot.
All in all good site, but does feel crammed in, inside.
