This could have been a good caravan site, but we felt that the owners never really made us feel welcome. It was as if they were happy to take our money, but didn't really want us there.
Despite this, the site is ok, toilets are clean, and its only a short drive to Harrogate town centre.
Unfortunately the dog walking area is far from sufficient and, as a previous review has mentioned, there isnt anywhere else to walk your dog.
We have caravanned in this area before, and I'm sure we will do so again, but we certainly wont be returning to this site again. There are far better sites to stay at in this area, where you are made to feel welcome, and with much friendlier staff.

Great site, and shown to pitch so no issues regarding where to go, after a long journey. Only real criticism was that when we got home we realised we had been over charged by over £5, which we were really not happy about Lovely little lake/pond in the centre of the site, ducks around, lots of wildlife. Chippy van turned up one evening which saved cooking and washing up, but wasn't an overly large portion. Swimming pool was available but we did not get chance to use it, maybe next time!

Just come back from a weekend visit of this site and can honestly say we will certainly be going back. The toilets and shower block were very well maintained if a little dated
A nice little park for the kids and a lovely little swimming pool, the only thing missing was an on site pub, they say there is a pub within walking distance but with two small children in buggies, we didn't really want to venture too far, but we got a 4 pack from the local supermarket around 6 miles away and just let the kids play whilst we sat and watched.
The site is central for ripon, knaresborough and harrogate and only about 13 miles from York so there are plenty of places to go (too much choice for a single weekend).
We spotted at least three pubs within a ten min drive that served food. You have to try a world famous ice cream from nearby Ripley they're gorgeous. And finally on our day of departure we were told we could stay a little longer to let our awning dry out has there had been a shower that morning.

Just got back from 3 nights at this well kept park, 3 adults and 2 young children. Arrived Tuesday after May day bank holiday (prefer not to hit busiest times)
Site is well laid out and we were positioned pretty well near to the playground and also shower block. Shower block well kept and clean, plenty of hot water. Staff were helpful and always busy about the park without being obtrusive. We used the pool which was clean and warm although there was a supplementary charge of £1 per person was well worth it.
The site is well placed for touring North Yorkshire being close to both Ripon and Harrogate. We spent an excellent day at Fountains Abbey which is highly recommended (weather permitting ) took a picnic and enjoyed the scenery and grounds.
Would recommend this campsite without hesitation and would certainly visit again, in fact speaking to other people on site most had visited on numerous occasions so this obviously speaks volumes.

Just had a fantastic weekend at this site 2 adults and 2 children aged 12 and 7. Spacious area for tent and space for both cars on a well maintained site. Facilities good indoor games room which my son loved and spent most of his time playing table tennis. Excellent park for my daughter.
Park busy at all times but closed down at dusk/10pm when all children had to leave. This meant no congregation of teenagers late into the evening. Quiet site at night even though it was full. Good swimming at pool at very reasonable charge and no time limit.
Toilets clean, and hot water at all times, good sized showers but washing area a little tight however I did find two suitable washrooms at the back of the toilets. Washing up area again clean with plenty of hot water.
Small shop for basics but limited opening times.Lots to see in surrounding area if you want to get off site and don't mind travelling.
Local village close by, bit limited and pricey (good butcher and ice cream shop) on the whole excellent facility for price will certainly recommend and revisit.

Just got back from weekend at Ripley campsite, large grassy areas for the tents, 10 amp hook up,fresh water supplies everywhere and close at hand.
Kids loved it because there was small tv room pool table, table tennis etc. heated swimming pool and play areas close enough for us to sit and relax with a beer whilst watching they were alright.
Shop opens for short period through the day, for your basics. Mobile chippy on the Saturday tea time, doesn't stay long. Shower block and toilets close at hand couple minutes tops. Dog walking section.
Staff very helpful and good with the children. We couldn't find our colour coded pitch (not highlighted very well), but staff only too willing to escort you there.
Ripley village about 10 minutes walk through the fields, not much there, pub, few shops highly priced, etc. Knaresborough 10 minutes drive away.
Will be returning for sure. Only tip keep clothes and shoes off the floor when showering, the water spills into the changing area but you only make that mistake once. Overall a lovely site.

Just returned from our first visit to this site. Check in was fast and efficient. Reception man took us to our spot in his buggy, asked us which spot we would like, as there were only two other tents in the field. He also gave us some site info and off he went. We had a good sized marked pitch.
The site is a good size with a lot of static long term caravans in one area and another large area set out for tourers. The tent field is at the back but is a good area, with large marked pitches.
There is a reception office which has lots of info leaflets etc, next to this is a small shop which opens 3 times each day for an hour or so. From reception, once you have paid your £1.00 you go through into the heated swimming pool area and this is clean and well looked after. Our lads thoroughly enjoyed using the pool. There is also, next door, a small activities room with pool, ping pong, a couple of machines for the older kids.
There is a play park which all the kids used. There is a pond area which has many ducks, it is not fenced but unless very young children are wondering around by themselves we could not see it as a problem. The only problem we found were the ducks! Very loud and too friendly, coming around the tents and into them. During the night they were coming around our cooking area and pecking at it, paddling in our dogs water bowl and then running around the tents quacking very loudly! Just trying to wake up the campers I think.
Toilets and showers were very clean and central to, although there was only one block, this was not a problem when we visited.
This is a very nice site well worth a visit.
The site is well run and in a nice spot for many tourist attractions.
A great time had by all.

After reading many reviews of this site we finally went, with 2 of our friends and their children (age range baby to 13 year old). On arrival we were shown to our pitches quickly and found them be a very good size, although ours had a lot of large tree roots on it. The toilet block was nice and clean, but at times it just needed the other people to clean where they had been themselves (there was a mop there).
Most of the staff are very helpful, but we were told off twice on the Saturday, once at 3pm for having the car radio to loud while listening to the football and later for playing cricket near our tents. Now I understand the the site has rules but there was no mention of them when we arrived and I feel that the site management should produce a leaflet with a site map and rules on it. My main gripe was the way we were chastised, by a wave of the hand, no excuse me lads. It left 2, 46 year olds, who work with people, a little annoyed at being treated like kids.
The other gripe for me was the showers and taps. You have to keep your hand on the button and taps at all times otherwise it went off and you were left standing in the cold.
Overall, not a bad site(but not as good as some others ive been to), but because of the way we were treated, we doubt we'll be back.

We had a fantastic week at this site. Its clean and spacious. The staff were great at helping. We were situated near the duck pond which was lovely but it does have steep sides and wasn't fenced in. However the owners seemed to have used their common sense and put people without kids near the pond while families were nearer the children's play area.
There were two toilet/shower blocks joined on to each other, the large one was open over the weekend while the site was busy then the smaller one was open during the week. Again they were well kept.
We did intend trying the swimming pool but didn't have time but at £1.00 per session or £5.00 for a 7 day pass it was good value and looked lovely.
We did sample the fish and chips from the travelling van and they were lovely and very reasonable (£4.00 for fish and chips) however the portions were slightly on the small side compared to most places.
We will be returning next year

Another great weekend at this site. Very helpful staff, great flat pitches with plenty of room.
Toilets always immaculate.
Small shop stocking the basics and a small games room to keep kids amused.
Swimming pool which we never used as seemed very small but was popular with other campers.
Short walk to Ripley where the Boars head offers fine dining and a lovely beer garden or opt for the red star club for a good pint and great snooker room
