We enjoyed our weekend visit to Ripley, which is near enough to Harrogate to be convenient but far enough away to avoid the crowds. The staff were helpful and pleasant,
the facilities well maintained and had I chosen to swing a cat, the showers would have accommodated it! That's a nice change from many sites where the showers tend towards the minimalist.
As we're knocking on a bit we don't use play areas but the children who were there certainly did. We were sited some way from it and so protected from the noise!
I'd like to know why the wild mallards, moorhens and coots are more tame than our own four Indian runner ducks? It must be the food.
We will certainly go back. It's only an hour and a half, traffic permitting, from here and so ideal for weekends away.

Fabulous site. Brilliantly laid out campsite. Fish & Chip van. Large play area for children, which is locked up at dusk so there is no noise. Small swimming pool, but still fun. Clean toilets and showers with plenty of hot water. Handyman takes children for rides on golf buggy - this made their day. A chocolate dipped ice cream in Ripley is a must and only a short walk away. A gem - will definitely return again.

Stayed here for 3 nights in August - 2 adults and 2 kids.
Location - 3 miles from Harrogate, about a mile from Ripley village.
Site - overall a good site, very busy but did not feel overcrowded.
Kids playground was excellent, the best I have come across whilst camping.
Showers excellent, clean and loads of them, didn't have to queue once.
Swimming Pool on site £1. 50 adults £1 kids - wasn't very warm and the water was very cloudy. Only 1 shower for gents and 1 for ladies in the swimming pool block so could cause queues etc.
People have prev mentioned a guy on reception being a bit grumpy and I think I know who you mean. However, I thought he was alright and had a chat with him and he was helpful enough.
Pitch was in the ball field, plenty of space, however, I didn't really like being pitched there at certain points in the day as the kids couldn't control where they were kicking the ball so it hit the tent and car a couple of times. Had to tell them off unfortunately but they had their chance! I would recommend you avoid camping in the ball field!
Good site to use as a base to explore the surrounding area York, Knaresboro, Harrogate etc.
Ate in a pub called the Red Lion 2. 5 miles away it was ok.
The Boars Head Inn is about a mile away on Ripley, you could walk it if you were felt inclined, didn't try it though.
I would recommend this site for families.

We were crammed in on a muddy field, not an ideal situation, our van has a canopy and other campers were walking under our canopy on their way to the toilet block. One of the many seasonal owners did so on many occasions. Ducks everywhere which is quite quaint but the massive pond maybe a danger to children. Staff and toilets are past their sell by date and both could do with smarting up. The shop and the pool and amusements are also a little run down.

Went here for four nights end of august. Wasn't very impressed, only one member of staff was friendly, shop was only open for one hour morning and evening and refused to open even 2 minutes early.
Pitch was very muddy and we weren't allowed to pitch over the mud, leaving grass at the side. Pool was very small and sloped quite steeply from all sides, definitely not suitable for non swimming children as they could only manage a few steps before they were out of their depth.
No restriction on numbers and it was full with only 10 in but more kept coming in. It was charged at £1. 50 and extra again for the sauna (didn't bother to try this)
Showers were kept clean and loads of hot water but they were very cold and needed a makeover (mildew on ceilings)You had to press to keep the water on and it only lasted 16 seconds.
Ducks were nice but very noisy all through the night

We stayed in a tent during weekend. Our tent was located next to football field. The kids really enjoy playing at the field, playground and had new friends.
A great site with good facilities. Toilets and showers were well maintained and always clean. Didn't queue for toilet.
This is a family friendly site. The staff are friendly too. We enjoyed our stay there.
We had a day out at Brimham Rocks, enjoyed the famous ice cream at Ripley Town and visited Knaresborough.
Would recommend this site to friends.

Following a frosty reception, (we were told off for parking the car at the side of the road by reception as 'there will be caravans arriving!'), we were told we would have to pay extra for our dog when in fact we don`t own a dog!. We were then shown to our pitch, which was very small.
In our opinion most of the caravans were situated in the pleasant part of the site, (where most of the site photos are taken!) and the people with tents were placed out of sight and crammed in like sardines. Some were even placed in the ball games area.
The facilities were reasonable. The shower blocks had plenty of showers and cubicles, though if you were planning to have a wash in the cubicle you shouldn`t be too shy, as they are so small that if you move back a step you will expose yourself to everyone through the curtain/screen!.
The shop sells a fairly good selection of basic supplies, but it is only open twice a day, which could be a problem for some, as could the frosty reception each time you go in!. They also have an ice block freezing facility.
There is a small pool on site, which we never used. We had a look at the games room, which had signs up saying that under 15`s were not allowed, which really disappointed my 8 and 11 year old boys. The website does not mention this.
There is a very good playground on the site for younger children and a duck pond near reception. You can buy duck food at reception.
The surrounding area is very picturesque, in particular Ripley village and Knaresborough. If you fancy a trip into York there are very well organised Park & Rides nearby.
All in all we had an enjoyable week, but this was due to the days out we had in this lovely part of Yorkshire and not to Ripley Caravan Park.
The fish & chip van comes twice a week at about 5pm on a Saturday & I think a Wednesday. They were definitely worth queuing for!.
We unfortunately would not recommend this site and will definitely not be returning.

Just come back from a weeks stay here.
Immaculate site, with very clean toilet / shower block (They always seemed to be cleaning them which is great!) - on this subject I also never had to queue once. Most of the time I was the only one in there which was lovely. (Nice and hot too!)
Mostly friendly staff. We particularly liked Paulo who was one of the wardens. We got 2 lifts from him on the golf buggy too, which was cool! (My 3 year old enjoyed this almost as much as me)
One guy in reception needs to go on the customer service course as he appears miserable seemingly all of the time, apart from that all fine.
Not a bad playground although my son was a little young for it. He preferred the toddler room even though it was quite small and basic!
Swimming pool was quite nice, only used it once but a nice little addition.
Shop was fairly useless really, not open all of the time.
Didnt try the fish n chip van, wish I had.
Nice atmosphere, friendly, relaxing. Nice location about 3 miles from Harrogate etc, so all facilities are available there.
Good touring location.
We had such a nice time here as it was so relaxing and friendly around the site that we are considering going again next year. Not a bad recommendation considering the location is about 260 miles away from home.

Tent pitch with electric, 3 night stay.
Following a frosty reception (we were forced into taking my husbands small work van, and have been to sites before where you can park them out of the way, but the guy who 'greeted' us simply said 'the vans not staying is it'. We had to park the van in Ripley which is very quiet so had no concerns about leaving it in the end.
We were shown to our pitch, which unfortunately was in the football field. This proved to be very noisy at certain times of the day and made putting our children (3 yrs and 17 months) to bed a bit of a struggle as they could hear the children shouting etc, sounded much more interesting than sleeping!
Also we were the tent furthest away from the shower blocks so taking our 3 year old to the toilet was a bit of a trek every time she needed it! I thought this should have been taken into consideration at time of booking, which was months in advance. This pitch was right next to the opening for the little dog path too so had loads of people walking past constantly.
The site itself is clean and tidy and some of the staff were very friendly and cheery, just a few that made you feel slightly uncomfortable, not as friendly as you ought to be at a holiday spot.
I can't see us returning to be honest, but yes the site is good for the surrounding tourist spots. Can highly recommend Knaresborough, what a beautiful place, you will be wowed by the view! We spent the whole day just strolling around, it 'made' our 3 night stay.
The showers are v powerful and hot and there are plenty of them, didn't have to queue once.
The playground is a bit old for our children but was fun all the same. The playroom is good for them. I used the pool with my children and they enjoyed it but wasn't overly clean/clear, but a good addition.
The shop was open 3 times a day but we never used it, as the only time we needed something it wasn't open!
Very pretty surroundings!

Arrived on site and my wife reported to the office for the necessary pitch allocation
She came out of the office and stated that she thought she had upset the reception staff as they did not smile or give impression of welcome.
This was very quickly forgotten when the golf buggy appeared and whisked my wife and youngest off towards our pitch, with me in hot pursuit.
Full super pitch was large and all surrounding areas were well maintained.
My wife and three children 13, 5, 3 set off to explore whilst I set van up. Upon return the children were over the moon with the ducks and duck pond and the facilities.
Only concern from wife was duck pond and no fencing and steep banks.
Pool was small but clean and warm, as previous reviews filled up quickly.
Shop was a bit hit and miss with opening times and stock but the short walk into Ripley paid off, some nice little shops for stocking up and just for the ice cream.
Local co-op is just a short drive.
We informed staff about shower temp as my eldest daughter said they were very hot they seemed to take this as a personal slur on their character (was not a complaint but making them aware).
Toilets and showers immaculate and always looked as though they had just been cleaned.
Knaresborough is a must just for a view of the bridge (very impressive when lit up) and castle, some nice little pubs as well.
A must for young children is Thorp Perrow Arboretum, with it gardens, small animal park and a hands on close up falcons display a real treat being in the middle of the display with the birds flying around you.
Very impressed with the site and good value for the money.
Have a good stock of bread or bird feed as the ducks are friendly and numerous to the delight of my children. Have stored this one in the sat nav for future visit.
