Just had a week here and its one of the best we have been on,

Couple points I'd make though, showers water very hot, too hot for young ones, but great for washing/dishes. Swimming pool small so crowded quickly, room not heated/insulated so can feel cold when you leave, and shop very limited on stock, but the site was great,

Plenty room good size pitches. Easy walk to ripley. Easy drive to Harrogate etc. Rubbish bins emptied 3 times a day. Very clean and tidy and prices not a total rip off.

Will without doubt return.

I have never been camping before and I can honestly say I loved it here. The people are very friendly and help you with anything. The people who own this gorgeous site are fab, what lovely people they are.

The toilets are very clean and the showers are too. The swimming pool is brill, very clean.

The site itself was very clean. We are going back in august and i cant wait.

I have to say the duck pond is lovely and the ducks come up to you to be fed. Highly recommended

This is the second time we have been to this site. A friendly site with plenty of wardens to help you. Kids play area, something of a must have with active children.

Toilets and showers clean and there is no key or code to use them. There are many ducks and they come right up to your caravan, you may need to stock up on bread! We also saw rabbits.

Harrogate is a lovely town with museums however if you go to the Pump house museum do not try the water at the end unless you have no taste buds!

There are plenty of places to eat in Harrogate and Ripley Castle is worth a look. The shop has all basics so you aren't stuck for food and a co-op is just down the road towards Harrogate.

This site has a swimming pool which seemed popular however we did not use it. It also has a sauna.

Hopefully we will have the chance to return to this site before the end of the season.

We have just returned after a week at Ripley. The site was good, very tidy (there always seemed to be someone cleaning and tidying). The showers were very hot (too hot for children, but they showered at the pool). We never queued for a shower all week.

The pool was fun, but it's only open til 6pm which seems a bit early if you've been out for the day. There seems no need for it to close so early given that it's next to the office which is manned until 10pm. Even 7pm would help. It never looked very clean and the chlorine was very strong, but our children loved it. The building however is not heated or insulated and the floor was freezing! So make sure you have some crocs or flip flops.

The area was lovely, there is a path along a field by the entrance enabling you to walk to Ripley (10 mins max) which we did three times, including once at night with a torch. Ripley Castle is excellent and the Boars Head hotel lovely.

We had a fantastic meal in the bar/bistro which was perfect (the restaurant looked a bit too smart given that we were arriving in walking boots and with our torch!). You can buy everything you need in Ripley, there is an excellent butcher and a deli and greengrocer, so don't worry about the site shop being a bit basic. And make sure you have an ice cream while you are there.

All in all a good site, we would return as we loved the area.

First time we have been here and found it to be very quiet and plesent. The site is situated near Harrogate, Ripon and not to far from York which makes it a great location for sightseeing.

Showers and toilets are clean. Very large site with a variety of pitches available. Staff pleasant and helpful. Nice duck pond, with lots of lovely ducks.

There is a small swimming pool but can not comment on this as we did not use it. There is a Fish and Chip van that comes round on Saturday evening and the chip were very nice. Will go again.

Well what can 1 say, this site is great, we have been loads off times and will keep returning. Wardens are very helpful and pitches are a great size, especially if you got a large tent.

Plenty to do in the area as well.

Theres a games room which is good for older children n a play room for the little ones.

Will definitely be returning in 2011 and many years to come as long as they still have tent pitches.

Spent a week here peak season. Site was larger than we expected but still seemed peaceful where we were pitched, as I had requested a quiet pitch. On walking round the site other areas particularly near the tents & play park it was much noisier.

Setting around the duck pond was lovely & well maintained. Welcome by staff good on the whole. Previous reviews that some staff being more cheerful than others is well founded! The guy that showed us to our pitch was lovely.

Site is well situated for visiting Harrogate, York etc. A visit to Ripley Castle is worth a trip & the ice cream in the village is excellent!

Showers were hot & powerful. Two blocks each with 3 showers, sink cubicles etc Never had to queue & site was busy. Always clean & mop provided also. Wash-up areas good, one open air with two sinks & another two under cover. But no shelves to put dirty/clean utensils on!

Pool was a bit disappointing really. It was rather small and although the water was I think clean it all looked a bit murky because the pool floor was dirty! Also was only open till 6pm so if you had been out for the day and fancied an evening swim, which we often did, it was no good.

Shop only open at certain times 8am till 10.30am, 1pm till 2pm & 5pm till 6pm while we were there.Only managed to catch it once!

Has small launderette. But didn't use. Games room good with pool table, table tennis. TV etc.

There is play park (can't comment as our boys now too old to make use!) Also football area/games field.

Overall a good site, good location, pitches & site well maintained. Clean shower blocks. Don't book merely for the pool though or you will be disappointed. Would recommend & would revisit if we could be pitched near where we were this time!

Spent five nights here and, while there was nothing major, some of the minor faults will stop us from going back.

The plus points are it's a well controlled site, the toilet blocks / washing-up / laundry etc are all clean and well maintained. There's a football / ball games area which, while only having one goal, is more than adequate for a kickabout with a ball, game of cricket or just letting the young 'uns run off steam.

There's a play park which, in my opinion, is fairly limited. This is quite strictly controlled with the park closing at dusk and not opening until 9am. Given the tents are really close to the park this is kind of a good thing.

The minus points are; The shop is limited and is only open three hours a day. Although it was described as having the basics, I think that basic has come to mean a lot more these days. I'm not sure of the owners intentions, but to not see a well stocked licensed shop open at regular hours as a moneyspinner has to be intentional, shame.

The tent pitches (alot of them, ours was) are under trees. Ours was under one of those with the red berries and had a resident woodpidgeon. The tents a bit of a mess now as you may expect.

The games room is naff, and that's as fair as I can be. Theres an old Welsh dining table painted green with two bats and a wooden net for table tennis. There's a pool table with ripped cloth for under 12s and a good one for older 12s. None of the arcade games work, my 13 year old was well miffed. The toddler room wasn't bad but our young ones have much more fun just playing outside.

The pool is awful and I can only deduce it gets piped directly from the wash block. I'd expect to be able to see the bottom of a 7ft pool when it's calm. My son couldn't see thefloor wearing a pair of goggles with his head 3 feet under. We didn't stay in long.

All in all it was a pleasant stay but 5 nights were too long, Ripley's a canny wee hamlet but it is what it is, young kids are bored when the ice-cream's finished so the alternative is to hop in the car and drive somewhere. I would recommend a trip to Brimham rocks if you do have kids though, they loved it.

The Co-op garage in Harrogate is a godsend.

Had a 3 night stay here. On arrival we were allocated a pitch in the tent field, (nothing against campers, our neighbours were excellent, just thought we would be pitched where the rest of the caravans were). When I asked if we could be moved to a different pitch as I wasn't happy with the one given I was told no as they were fully booked. I appreciate the fact that the site was indeed busy, but there were still pitches empty all the time we were there and still empty when we were leaving.

The site itself had good facilities for children, the playground was very good. The games room always seemed full when we passed by and the pool seemed ok, but we didn't use it so cant really comment.

The showers were nice and hot but a bit dated. You had to keep pressing the button as the shower kept going off.

On arrival was a bit disappointed with the reception I got. The pool was smaller than I expected and wasn't open all the time. The toilets and showers were very clean at all times. The waste disposal area was also very clean. My son (12) quickly found friends simply by playing football on the field. The location of the site was great for visiting the local attractions. I would go again but I feel I have seen what there is to see outside the camp.
