We happened upon this site, to chase the weather when the original plans we're binned!

Its a shame that our first impressions were damaged by the booking and check in process - a very unhappy looking chap handled both! We were shown to our pitch following a golf buggy and told to reverse in to the inch! Some people find this good service, I find it over fussy and officious.

Sites need to remember its harder to level a motorhome than a caravan, they sit nose down on road naturally so you need to allow for this when parking up!

The site is very neat and tidy, tree lined, duck pond, gravel roads and hardstanding. Toilets are clean, showers hot and spacious plenty of hooks for once. The pool is extra and only a small splash affair for kids, the sauna is extra and was broke on our visit.

Best feature is the location a short walk to Ripley model estate village which is lovely. A must do visit, very pretty, pricey boutique shops, extortionate hotel, but very good and reasonable tea room in the castle grounds. If walking is too much there's and free car park.

Worst feature of the site is that they accept dogs but, there are no facilities for them. The dog walk is a pitiful 100 yard 4 ft wide strip. There is nowhere to let the dog have a run unless you go to Ripley village and use the bridleway at the left of the castle. All areas on site require dogs to be on leads - understandable with the friendly ducks.

Shop is basic and only open a few hours a day.

Overall a very clean nice attractive site, great and safe for kids, excellent for Ripley and Harrogate (car needed or a bus from Ripley), but let down by dog walk.

Perfect campsite for a young family camping, we were sited adjacent to the playground so that I could supervise (and rescue) the children whilst completing chores around the tent. Older children didn't seem quite as satisfied, I don't know if there is a wilder area of the site for them to roam independently, that is all that I feel is missing for children.

We didn't use the indoor leisure facilities, a games room I think and the indoor pool but it was great to know that they were available and the charges were modest.

Toilet and shower facilities were great, and washing-up facilities had plenty of really hot water. The laundry facilities were out of order. Staff were friendly and helpful, and happy to chat as well.

There is a 'duck mafia' who patrol the tents, including quite early in the morning to enquire as to why we weren't up and preparing their breakfast! This was fine with us (no need to pick up spilt pasta and sweetcorn) but may irritate some.

We saw a day or two old moorhen chick that looked like a piece of discarded litter or fluff on the grass had we not looked more closely after wondering why the adult moorhen was circling the area and making so much fuss. Luckily the staff knew about the chick and its sibling and knew their nest was inside the nearby bush, so we left well alone.

Convenient site for Ripley Village which has high class dining and tourist attractions (farm shops, deli, famous ice-cream, pub) but you need to drive to the next villages/towns for take-away food or supermarket shopping.

Perfectly adequate and pleasant site that we intend to use again!

Just returned from a lovely weekend at ripley castle campsite. The site is very large and pitches are all marked out.

I pitched right next to the play area and had electric hook up. It was an excellent spot, sheltered on two sides by conifers which incidentally were perfect for my girls to climb up, they loved it.

The play area is fantastic, a good range of equipment to suit all ages and it's locked up at night from 10pm till9am so there are no teenagers hanging around after hours.

The site is spotless and it's the only site I've been to in 22years of camping where I didn't have to queue at any point for either a toilet or a shower. It made for a lovely change to have lots and lots for the site to use.

There are also two dish washing areas, one covered, one open. Both clean. There is a small duck pond and lots of tame, inquisitive ducks wandering around the site which was lovely.

There is a small indoor pool which costs £2 to use as long as you like. There is also quite a large field for ball games too. I have a large8 berth tent and for 2 adults, 2children, 2cars, 2nights with electric was £51. Not bad, considering facilities and cleanliness of site. Definitely return.

Perfectly located for days out, lightwater valley, brimham rocks, fountains abbey, how stean gorge, mother shiptons cave to name but a few that are right on the door step of this site.

There is a pub in ripley called the boars head and I've been told it's good, I never found out because it was fully booked up the weekend we went, so pre booking advisable.

The fish and chip van comes to the site at 5. 30 on saturday, again, didn't use it but heard it was good. Highly recommended, a gem of a site.

Enjoyed my visit to this site. Stayed for a week

When we arrived on a Saturday, the site was quite full. By Sunday it almost seemed empty. I seemed to be forever feeding the ducks. Toilets were nice and clean and the site well looked after.

It is a good area for exploring Yorkshire, On a nice day you can take a gentle walk into Ripley and sample the ice cream, mmmmm. There is a small shop on site, but it is a short drive to Harrogate for the Asda if required.

The staff seemed nice. Unfortunately we weren't greeted with a smile when we arrived. One of the gentlemen seemed to be having an off day.

Would enjoy another visit in the future.

2 adults and a 12yr old girl. Michigan XL tent.

Stayed Friday to Sunday £44. 00 electric pitch.

You do not have to be off your pitch till 12 so no rushing around like some sites.

Toilets and showers kept very clean.

Nice pool which we found to be busy in a morning but quiet by mid afternoon £1. 50.

Shop stocked usual items, had ice cream so we were fine, also do cool block service if needed. Not open all day.

Chips and fish van 5. 30 pm on a saturday near office, was very busy.

Play room, games room all looked nice and well kept, didn, t use them whilst there.

We were pitched near football field but was not a problem not noisy. Large pitch for tent and car.

Note if you are not taking small children then ask for a pitch away from play ground, very! noisy with screaming children as you would expect from a large family site, signs do state closes at 10pm or dusk.

Near harrogate only 10 min by car I would say.

Will be returning to this site again when got a free weekend as we all had a great weekend.

We are a family of 3 with a 2 year old and have just returned from a 5 day trip to Ripley caravan park. It is a good site although there were a few things we weren't to impressed with.

We loved the size of the pitches and the fact that they were flat. We also liked the pool (has a separate charge) although it didn't look immaculately clean and I wasn't to impressed when I was told to go into the ladies although the facility was completely empty and my husband was clearly struggling with our very noisy and demanding 2 year old.

We mostly loved how close this site is to everything. Ripley (and it's ice cream shop) is fantastic, very beautiful. Knaresborough was the surprise for us though, utterly stunning place and what started as a 2 hour 'pop in' ended up being a whole days trip. There is lots to do in the area for people of a

ll ages but if like me you are specifically looking to keep small children happy, you can't fail to be very impressed by all this area has to offer, including the Wacky Warehouse pub in Beckwithshaw ( I forget what its called, something cat but it was fantastic, highly recommended if you have kids) and the Embsey- Bolton abbey steam railway, we all loved it.

Back to the site, it has a small children play room, it's not brilliant, could do with a few smaller items but it will keep under 5s happy for a short while.

The toilet/shower block was free, clean and always available so no complaints there but the water was extremely hot, no good for children of any age.

The pot washing facilities were more than ample too. What we weren't to impressed with: There are a lot of ducks in the park because of the duck field, they and the pond are lovely (if a bit nosy and had to be 'shued' out of our tent on more than 1 occasion) but they are also rather noisy at 3. 30am (didn't help we went solstice week I suppose!).

The poorly stocked shop is only open for one hour twice a day (3 times a day at weekends). We had hoped to avoid supermarkets on our little holiday but unfortunately had little choice as there was not much available. Also the opening hours were not very helpful, especially when emergency items (milk, bread, kids juice!) were needed.

Also the only freezer for freezing blocks is in the shop and as well as being charged 10p per block to freeze them, they were impossible to get hold of outside of the 2 x 1 hour slot.

Overall the site is lovely, very clean, friendly enough (but no more so than every other camp I've visited) but most importantly in a fantastic spot. For this reason above all others we will more than likely stay again.

We stayed here with friends for May bank holiday. Everyone really enjoyed it, lovely site very clean. Staff lovely.

On arrival our daughter got a ride in the golf buggy as the chap lead us to our pitch which was close to the football field. It was very family friendly.

Toilet block was nice and clean and always lots of hot water. Fresh bread from the shop was lovely. The indoor pool was great for the children.

The towing route was great very easy. Not too far to Knaresbrough which was great for a bit of shopping.

We will def re-book.

We spent the weekend 24-26 June here. On arrival we were shown our pitches as we stopped with friends. The pitches were in the 'ball field' and our friends pitch had some dog mess in it so they couldn't pitch where instructed and had to swap the car pitch for the tent pitch. This was a disappointing first impression. We bent a few pegs setting up so take some rock pegs (which we didn't) There is electric hook ups but we stayed non-electric.

The site itself is well maintained with regular grass cutting. The toilets are cleaned seemingly constantly and the facilities are very good. The water pressure in the shower is very high so be prepared. The children's park has opening and closing times and the swings etc are chained up so they can't be used.

The shop is not particularly well stocked but we take everything we need for a weekend anyway and there are shops nearby for fresh stuff.

The pool looked fine and there is a small admission charge.

The games room has 2 pool tables (50p a go - cues, chalk and cue ball available from reception) and there is a table tennis table which we didn't have a go on and a couple of fruit machines.

There is a duck pond so be mindful with small children.

All in all this is a very nice site and we will definitely return to explore the surrounding area - having to be off for noon is also much better than the 10am often seen giving us plenty of time to have breakfast and then pack up at a leisurely pace.

Our first visit here and it did not disappoint, staff were very friendly & helpful, plenty of hot water for showers, washing up etc. The shower & toilets were constantly being cleaned and everywhere else was immaculate.

Overall a beautiful site. On two separate occasions we had inconsiderate campers near us (the same people on both occasions) playing their music extremely loud. The staff sorted this straight away which impressed me.

We will definitely be back to this site & area as there's plenty to do. For ice cream, I highly recommend Brymor in Knaresborough off the High Street. Fabulous ice cream, not whippy, and in a number of flavours, my personal favourite was strawberry cheesecake.

This was our very first experience of camping. We had a fantastic time and have recommended this site to our friends. I would definitely say that the over site is well maintained and is a beautiful area. On arrival we were dealt with very efficiently. The handyman was a great help and showed us to our site. He even gave the kids a ride in his golf buggy! We were travelling with my sister and we were allocated 2 pitches next to each other. The reservation lady was most unhelpful when I tried to make the initial booking but when we spoke to the chap (I presume the owner) he was more than helpful and even gave us pitches so that we could be next to each other.

There were plenty of pot washing facilities and we didn't have to wait long to use them. There were 2 shower/toilet facility blocks so if one was closed you used the other which were next to each other. The children's play area was lovely and the children enjoyed using it. There was also a football field with goal post which the children could also use. The swimming pool was an added bonus and very well maintained like the rest of the park.

Overall a lovely little site and I full intend to return very soon.
