This lovely site is about 3 miles away from Harrogate and 4 miles from Knarsborough. The toilets and showers though only small, do seem to cope when the site is full. And are always clean and tidy.
The grounds themselves are well maintained and are attractive.
The site also has a good shop and swimming pool of which there is a small charge to use.
The bad points from our stay:
The head warden and his wife have to be one of the most surly couples I have met running a camp site, Indeed this is our second visit and both times we have been dissapointed with their attitude to the paying customer.
Its such a shame because the rest of the staff are superb and cant do enough for you.
On the weekend we stayed the park was full to bursting and some of the units were so close together is was like beind on a raliegh.
So even though the site is very good. We will avoid going again in the future beacause of the head warden. Maybe if he owned the site he would treat people with more respect.

Just had 3 very enjoyable nights at this site can't fault it at all, we were there about 4 years ago and the same high standards were maintained.
The only thing on the down side was the toilets were starting to look at little tired and needed some T.L.C. But don't't get me wrong they were spotless. The site was quite full when we there but at 10 p.M. There was not a sound a real plus.

Fantastic site. Lovely reception and friendly staff on arrival and throughout our stay. The tent pitches were roomy and well spaced out. We had no children with us, but noted that there was an outdoor play area and heated indoor pool for the little ones.
Showers were clean, warm and there were no queues (although the earliest we got up on our three day was about 9.30) The site is just a quick walk from Ripley (by road or through field about 8 minutes)Boars head Hotel a nice spot for dinner / drinks.
Bus stops to harrogate just a few minutes walk away. The site is lovely to walk about in- dog walks, little pond with some well fed ducks.Well stocked shop, nice laundry area and plenty of space for washing dishes/preparing veg etc.
The grounds are very well maintained and there were a number of staff on site at any one time and easy to find. We loved it here and highly recommend it.

Just returned from our first visit to ripley. It will not be the last. Very well run. Very polite and professional staff and a wonderful site to say the least. Swimming pool costs just £1 a swim.
Showers and toilet block is a little dated but spotless. Park for the kids which opens and closes at respectable times is good enough to keep the little ones happy for a good while and once sick of the park the duck pond will keep the boredom at bay.
Mobile chippy on a saturday is tiptop and the site is handy for mother shiptons cave (approx 5 miles) and lightwater valley (approx 12 miles). Don't know if we just hit on lucky but all other fellow campers were very friendly and come 10.30pm you could hear a pin drop. Very impressed.

Every thing from starting off being escorted to our pitch by an attendant in a buggy explaining all the facilities to the leaving and wanting to go straight back!
Lots of Pro's that others have listed, the biggest for us was the most immaculate shower & toilet block! we never had to queue for the toilet or shower (the site was full) the water temperature and pressure were the best we have ever had on a site.
The only con I have to mention is that the playground does not open until 9am which was a little late, would have been much more friendly to have opened at 8am for the kids just stood around waiting to play.
A mobile Fish & chip shop visits every Saturday tea time, the staff are very friendly and helpful.
This site is in a great location with lots of places to visit the list is endless.
Will definitely go back and would strongly recommend to any camper from tent to stealth caravan owner.

What a great site. We've just spent a couple of nights at Ripley (would have stayed longer if we'd known just how good it is. Set in beautiful countryside just a short stroll from the lovely village of Ripley and a 15 minute bus ride from Harrogate the site is perfectly positioned.
Facilities are of a very high standard and the pool was extremely welcome on the surprisingly warm days we were there. Toilets and showers were spotless and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.
We just loved the ducks that waddle round the site with offspring in tow. We'll return soon (but not until the school summer holidays come to an end!).

This is a lovely site and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
We had booked this site as we were attending a concert in Harrogate and wanted to camp for a few days.
Booking was simple and trouble free and we had secured the last pitch with EHU.
As the weather had been forecast to be very hot and sunny we decided to take the gazebo at the last minute. On arrival at the site we were told that this would be fine, but there was a small additional fee to pay.
We were escorted to our pitch by a chap in a golf buggy who explained where everything was and where our pitch ended. It was lovely to be in a section that was just tents.
Our pitch was plenty big enough for the tent, gazebo and car with good space between our neighbours and ourselves.
I did note that people with more than one car, or a very large tent may find the pitches a little tight and thought that perhaps an off pitch car park might be useful.
The toilets and showers were spotless and even though the site was full we never had to wait for a shower. The showers were hot and the water pressure was excellent. People with younger children may have found them a little too hot, but there were lots of washing cubicles for those not wanting to shower. The ladies shower block had a baby bath and changing area in it and there were also disabled facilities.
The shop on the site was well stocked with essentials and was no more expensive that any other site shop. The pool looked lovely, although we didn’t use it and the games room and toddler’s room looked fun. The reception is well stocked with information leaflets. The mobile chip shop on the Saturday night, was also a welcome visitor to the site. The chips were lovely.
Ripley is a lovely village and is within easy walking distance of the campsite. There is a private right of way through a field for campsite users to get to the village, which means you don’t have to walk along the road. The village has a farm shop and butchers. Along with the ice cream shop and a deli. Obviously the castle and its grounds are worth a look and we were told they have a car boot sale on the large field about once a month. The Boars Head pub / hotel / restaurant is a great place to sit and relax and enjoy a pint of local ale in their beer garden. There is also an excellent bus service between Ripon and Leeds, calling into all the ‘important’ places in between.
We would go back to this site again and feel it is a credit to all concerned in running in.

This is a lovely site very close to Ripley with its castle and tiny selection of shops (deli, ice cream parlour and butcher).
Good shower block, regularly cleaned with lashings of hot water for shaving, showering and washing. Nice and tidy around the site with lots of refuse and recycling points.
The staff are genial and able to point you in the right direction for walks etc. We went with children and were delighted to find a large playground and separate footie field. Plenty of formal space for tearing about, although the pitch could have been a little bigger (but then, I always feel that). Other campers seemed nice people, too.
Posh hotel (The Boar) in Ripley has a beer garden for a nice summer's drink. It is only 8 mins or so from the site on foot, as is the castle.

This is a well maintained and quite large site just outside the hamlet of Ripley. On entering the site it appears to be dominated by statics and touring caravans but there are tent pitches towards the far end of the site.
For children the well equipped play area is popular. It was good to see that staff maintained the rule of no ball games around the play area especially as the play area is unfenced and tents face directly on to it. There is a separate field for ball games.
The swimming pool is a good feature for the site and at £1 per visit it is not expensive and also (perhaps due to the fact that there is a charge) not overcrowded even over the Bank Holiday.
The toilet block is large with no queues at any time that I visited – even though the site was full. The same goes for the washing up facilities. The only queue I did see was for the mobile chip van as he did very good business on a drizzly Saturday night.
As to downsides to the site. Nothing too significant. I did think that the tent pitches near the play area were a little close together, not so much from those on either side of you but behind you – there was a thin fence and hedge behind the tent which partly masked the fact that another pitch was close behind you. When this pitch contains a loud snorer you feel like getting up and prodding him/her in their tent.
The site is well located with towns/cities of Harrogate, Knaresborough, York and Ripon nearby and plenty of places to visit within driving distance. Stump Cross Caverns was a good visit on a wet day. On a sunny day we went to Ripley Castle, which is walk able from site and whilst we were there (Late May Bank Holiday Monday) also had birds of prey demonstrations and a Classic Car Rally. With the extensive grounds and castle tour (with special tours aimed at children from 5+) we easily spent a day here.
In the village a shop sign boasts “World Famous Ripley Ice Cream”. I would cast doubt on this claim (I’d certainly never heard of it) but it is good (if on the expensive side), especially on a nice Summery day sat at the tables outside overlooking the village.
At £18 per night a tent for 2 adults, 1 child and 1 minor including electric I think the site delivered pretty good value for money; especially as some sites seem to hike their fees over Bank Holidays. It is a site I would return to without question.

Just returned today. Enjoyed the site. Showering and toilets clean. Lads enjoyed the games room. They enjoyed the football match played last night derby and leeds v preston and barnsley (who won). However feel the football area could be improved by basic things such as clearing away the rubble near the goals and supplying nets. This would have enhanced their enjoyment and not be costly.
Enjoyed the area. Visited waterworld at monks cross just outside york good value 13 pound for a family of 5. Thanks to the people who helped when we had a flat battery in the rain this morning. Wardens friendly and good banter.
