Had a fantastic trip to Ripley Caravan Park. We arrived at tea time on the Friday and were checked in promptly. I asked if we would be able to see the kids in the play area from the pitch and they swapped the pitch we were due to stay on for one closer which was very kind and helpful. We were then shown to our pitch by the warden on his golf buggy! He gave us some info on where to find things onsite and nearby and info on the chip van that comes to the site on a Saturday evening. We didn't try them so cannot comment but there was a long queue so I guess that suggests they're good.
The games room has plenty in to keep the kids happy, two pool tables, one of which is pretty new and therefore for over 12's only, a table tennis table which you have to buy a ping-pong ball from reception for 30p to use, a small tv in the corner but with only one chair so not like a relaxing tv room but hey, we're camping! And finally 3 arcade games and two bandits although only one of each were working when we went. The games room is locked up at 10pm.
The grounds, toilet blocks, laundry, wash-up and swimming pool were all spotless at all times, never saw the cleaners but they did a sterling job as everywhere was always immaculate.
There's two toilet blocks for both sexes and both have plenty showers, toilets and washbasins, even the washbasins have a shower curtain for privacy and the showers are very roomy, only trouble is that all the taps are push one's which need pressing all the time but it didn't bother us. The pressure and temperature were both fine.
There's an outdoor washing up point with two sinks which are good and deep and one undercover again with two sinks. There's a nice duckpond and they sell feed at the well-stocked shop to feed the birds. The shop opens from 8.30am-10am, then 5pm-6pm and in peak times and on weekend 1pm-2pm. It's wise to make a note of that as it's miles to a shop if you're short of anything.
The pool is open 10am-6pm daily and is well worth a visit. It's £1 per person for a swim and £2 to use the sauna. The pool is a nice size and didn't get overcrowded though it may well do at peak times as it isn't a standard size pool. The wardens were fantastic our whole stay and very helpful. The kids loved the playground which had a couple of slides, plenty swings, a couple of climbing apparatus and some gymnastic type hoops and trapeze. The swings were all locked up at dusk and in summer 10pm which was good as we didn't get groups of youths hanging about too late.
On the whole the site and staff were first class and we had no complaints. My partner just felt that lighting could have been better on a night round the park as there was none at all and where there's a duckpond involved it could have led to an accident so just make sure your torches are charged!

We walked into Ripley which isn't far at all and the campsite tenants have rights through a field near the entrance which avoids walking on the busy roads. There isn't much there at all, there's the castle which you have to pay to go into, a couple of pubs, a really good butchers, a very expensive deli and the world famous Ripley Ice Cream parlour. We had some, £11 for 4 ice creams and it tasted like Mr. Whippy! Knaresborough and Harrogate are only 4 miles away and Ripon 8 miles and all three are nice towns so it's an ideal location.

I would definitely recommend this site and we will definitely be returning.

We stayed here a couple of times over last few months.

Excellent facilities -

Toilet block was immaculate with toilets, showers and privacy cubicles. Showers were hot and free! Hairdrier cost 20p - was plenty long enough.

Swimming pool £1 a time, can get busy.

Games room with table tennis, pool table and video games.

Shop which opened at various times through the day.

Play park.

Mobile chipshop on site on Saturday nights.

10 Minutes walk to Ripley, fab butchers and Boars Head has a lovely beer garden.

Found staff to be a little distant - like they were doing a job and that was that.

All in all, we liked this site, but found it to be a little too regimented for our liking. This is just a personal preference, it may be an advantage for others!

Stayed 5 nights during kids holidays. Arrived at reception - warden drove golf buggy to pitch & gave 1 or 2 helpful hints. We were a little worried that our family tent wasnt going to fit, as well as parking our car next door- Wasnt enough room - to park car next to tent! Pitches are very tight. We had nice neighbours though so wasnt a problem.

The site facilities are excellent. The 'cleaning' lady does a sterling job of keeping the ladies showers/wc's immaculate (& beleive me I am quite a fuss pot!) The only grumble with the showers is they are operated by push button which lasts about 15secs so for ever pushing on!

The site 'kids' room, play are and pool are very good and well maintained. The warden came at dusk to chain the swings etc together, so the kids eventually disapeared from the area!

Fantastic base, not far to travel to, Harrogate, Knaresborough Ripon all worth visiting. Ripley itself is tiny but very pretty.

Overall a great site, fantastic for kids, hence being quite noisy, and some less responsible families, staying 'out' quite late and making quite a lot of noise till way past 10pm - which by the end of the week I was getting a little annoyed about - I did have a word with the site warden who went & 'had words' with the families.

I would go again and would recommend to families as facilities are really good.

This site is great. We stayed over the last weekend in August and had no problems. The site was fully booked but still remained tidy - even the toilets were cleaned regularly. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. The swimming pool was like getting into a hot bath and great for the kids as the bottom of the pool becomes shallow near all the sides. This enabled my 5 year old to touch the bottom with relative ease. The road network to get to the site is brilliant with mainly dual carriageway. I would definitely recommend visiting this site.

Spent 9 nights here in a tent with electric hook-up. Nice clean site, large pitches most with hook-up, large shower cubicles (adult and child can fit in together easily) with plenty of hot water, good playground for the children and the swimming pool was a hit with our children (though too many rules 'no splashing' - what's that all about??).

Nice pleasant walk through a field into Ripley which has an ice cream shop, a butchers and a pub. Loads to do in the surrounding area!

Downsides -

As usual tents furthest away from showers and toilets.

Only one washing machine & one drier - could do with more for the size of the site.

Games room - official closing time 10pm. Went in on our last night and the warden came in at 9.45pm shouting for everyone to get out at as it was closing time. Tried to protest that there was 15 minutes to go and that we were half way through a game of pool to no avail - he just picked up the remaining balls and put them in the pockets, which was totally out of order as you have to pay to play. The children then told us this had happened almost every night!

 Could do better!

Site not bad overall; close to interesting places to visit. Toilets and showers clean. Chip van was good!

Lots of children on site which our kids loved. The swimming pool is OK although the staff kept shouting at the kids not to jump/splash or enjoy themselves generally.

We had terrible weather and the pitches flooded but this did not spoil the kids enjoyment as the were out all day in their wellies.

Pitches are cramped.

All in all a mixed review

A Beautiful area and a cracking pub in Ripley itself but did not receive a warm welcome at all during check in. Left waiting for No apparent reason at check in and another member of staff asked his colleague to check us in. We were given worst plot on site at opposite end of entry to site towards Ripley itself on access road T Junction which was also access to adjacent field where our view to rear was of piles of topsoil and rubble. Went for walk with dog and looked at waterfall opposite office and in fairness we did not notice on approach private sign on wall for owners private house, at no point did we disrespect owners home but we were still given an embarrassing public dressing down, shouting across and totally unwarranted.Decided not to say 2nd night even after ownwer offered a better location.

Generally site in excellent location with good facilities including large field for kids.

Stayed here a couple of nights. It rained for most of it. They were putting in new paths in the top tent field, this did not help in the mud.

The toilets were clean and plentiful. We found the owners and staff very pleasant and helpful.

Good location for visiting surrounding area. Would go back. As long as weather was dry.

Sat Nav found this campsite easily. Very good site for a base for touring the area. Harrogate, Knaresborough & Ripon, even York was not too far away.

We were shown personally to our pitch by a warden in a 'golfing buggy' We were told where the water and waste points were.

We stayed here for 6 nights. Unfortunately we had extremely wet weather in the duration of our stay here. Indeed with the amount of rain that we had,the tent field was being maintained with a tarmac road to enable campers to access the field. The pitches by the toilet block got flooded as well.

The toilet & shower blocks were kept spotless, and the wardens were seen to empty the bins regularly and we always found them to be friendly.

Environmentally, there were recycle bins which campers were encouraged to use, which they did, and the abundance of wildlife on site was visible with the inclusion of a lovely pond with abundance of moorhens & ducks which wandered freely amongst the caravans. On the edges of the site was also rabbits grazing.

There was a popular playground with swings & climbing frame, and there is a gamesroom and nursery area for babies & toddlers which was well used. In addition to this there was a lovely warm indoor swimming pool which at £1 a person was very reasonable.

We only had 2 negative things about the site was :

(1)the laundry room had only 1 washing machine & tumble dryer which at times was difficult to use as there was often a long queue to use it.

(2)where we were pitched, we didn't have much privacy, with people walking within a foot of our caravan & peering in on numerous occasions, but we put that down to where we were situated as it was a main thoroughfare to the shop/toilet block.

Stayed over for a couple of rainy nights midweek, the tent pitches where fine in the yellow area, only problem was pitching underneath the trees which constantly dripped.

We did notice the next day several areas were flooded due to the nights downpour and people where picking up their tents and moving to the back field.

Lovely site, although we got the feeling that they cram as many tents and caravans on as possible.

The site is central to a lot of nice areas 5 minute walk into ripon, knaresbrough is close and Harrogate only 3 miles away.

Toilet blocks were fine and regularly cleaned and despite the site being busy we never had to queue.

The only downside was the warden.

Overall a nice site, good for the kids, still trying to decide if we would return again.
