A very well kept site with great views. Staff very helpful and there is a little shop if you run short of essential needs.
Toilet and shower are kept spotless, down side to the showers they are push button and only last 15 seconds approx then having to re-push, I also found the showers very hot.
Pitches are large, but I found they are very uneven and you will need heavy duty tent pegs as the ground is very hard even after rain.
All in all a very nice site and close to many historical sites

This was our last stop on our way home after two weeks in Scotland. The location is superb!. The site owner met us on arrival and we found him very pleasant and helpful. The site is split into base camp, a large open field. A few hard standings by the duck pond and then four shelves up the hillside the last being Everest. We wanted electric so he found us a pitch fairly close to the electric box on the fist shelf, Anapora I think. The owner said camp were you like and I will find you electric from some were. We had views across the moors to Hadrians wall. The toilets snd small shop were ok for our needs. The owner said he he did not know about the problems with the showers until he read the review book. They were fixed that afternoon. There was a small cafe on site probably aimed at the bunk house users but there are two places to eat within a short distance of the site. Hadrians wall is a very short walk away or there is a bus that stops on the main road about half a mile away that runs all the way along the wall dropping off at all the sites along the wall. Another good site to add to our list.

Nice welcome on arrival by warden who showed us to our pitch and gave us a tour of the facilities. We were given a nice flat pitch with great views over the site and beyond, the level we were located only had room for 2 tents so it didn't feel crowded. Wc's and showers were nice and modern, spotless at all times, free hairdyrer to use, however the showers were on the hot side and quite uncomfortable for me and the children, and you did need to push the button every 15 secs. Good location within walking distance of Hadrians Wall. Would return if in this area again.

Me and my hubby had booked to stay here for 2 nights, when we first arrived the site seemed very nice and the people were really nice. We had booked a hard standing pitch which at first didn't seem bad but then some other visitors arrived back which then 4 of us were sandwiched together and felt like we were squashed in between double decker buses. We couldn't put our chairs and table at the side of our van and hubby tripped over neighbours tv ariel. So ended up leaving early as it didn't feel safe as if one of the other vans had of caught fire it probably would of taken ours to. Also whilst having a shower everything went into darkness and couldn't see a thing. I cant comment on the rest of the site as this is the only bit I saw, and also did get a nice vist of a friendly chicken who wanted to share our tea.

Nice campsite with very friendly staff in a beautiful part of the country. However the showers left a bit to be desired. The hot water was intermittent and generally as they were push button the water stopped just as it was warming through. After a day out cycling a cold shower isn't what you want. There also doesn't seem to be a noise policy and therefore we were kept awake late into the evening and woken early on a morning. Its a shame as it brings this campsite down and we probably won't stay here again

The staff are friendly and helpful. The site was too busy for us and we were woken up early by other campers. We felt that we paid too much for a small tent without electricity and it was definitely a first having to pay by card in advance! The facilities were good and clean but we prefer quieter sites. I suppose it's 'horses for courses'.

Absolutely fantastic we will be going back.
Steep approach for van but well worth the climb on arrival.
Wardens in charge and we couldn't go onto grass pitch allocated due to soft ground so they managed to find us a level place on roadway, so kind and welcoming as well.
Great facilities for showers, clean, warm plenty of room. Donation for wifi.
Resident ducks and cats.
Hadrian's wall 1/2 mile walk away. Only stayed one night as we were on our way to Edinburgh but wished it was longer.
My friend who has never camped before was VERY impressed.

Smashing! The wardens could not have been more helpful, even lending us a mallet as ours was falling to bits, and helping with levelling as we hadn't encountered a sideways slope before (we were also offered an alternative pitch had we preferred it). The site was lovely. There were friendly animals, including 11new ducklings, a cat with thumbs and a nocturnal visit from an enormous hedgehog! The animals entertained the children as well as any playground would have done. We bought tea and cakes in the tearoom upon arrival and breakfast before departing, both of which were welcome. Showers and toilets were fine, didn't use the other (laundry and cooking) facilities. There was a small shop which seemed to have a bit of everything. The site was nicely landscaped and the other campers/caravanners were quiet and pleasant (our children in pursuit of the ducklings were as rowdy as it got!) We walked to local pub on our first evening (The milecastle) which was just right for a hearty meal watching the rain. The location was lovely, minutes from the Roman wall and within walking distance of Vindolanda. Houseteads would have been feasible without the children, but was too far for short legs. The only downside was the heavy downpour one night which turned into a little stream through our awning. This is one site I would certainly return to without hesitation.

Booked for the Bank Holiday weekend, first trip for our trailer tent. What a find this campsite is, clean, well laid out and a superb location. The owners were helpful and extremely pleasant. Handy for Hexham, and Carlisle, if the weather's not too good, and great for the wall itself. Good walks from the site. We ate out in Hexham for one night and on the site for the rest as the weather had improved and the views spectacular. We will return.

This is a very pleasant site in a stunning setting though the pitch we were on up the hill was impossible to drive to after the rain. Having said that the pitch was private if a little uneven and was otherwise perfect. The toilet block is very good and even at a busy time of year the showers were never full when we needed them. Added features are the duck pond with about 10 ducklings that wandered all over the site and a swift's nest right above the washing up sinks.
