Was made to feel welcome when first checked in, but that soon changed when our children stepped out of the van! Campsite not very child friendly as there was an open duck pond which we were put beside, even when we pointed out that we had small children, and no play area. Think it would be wise for this campsite to be adult only as it is in a good spot with access for some lovely walks and toilet/shower block clean and tidy.

We visited this site for the first time for the New Year, we had a great time despite the weather, Graham, Pat and Barbara were very helpful and hospitable. We spent a nice evening in their company along with other campers. The toilets were clean and warm, excellent washing and drying facilities. This is a site to return to time and time again especially if you want peace and quiet.
The only thing that spoilt a great time was the people in the next caravan who had two dogs and allowed them to bark day and night. This was no fault of the site owners and would not put me off going back.
Haltwhistle is a lovely place with an Indian and Chinese takeaway which we did not discover until it was too late!but a lovely place to wander and have a coffee. Hexham not far away either for food shopping and restaurants, pubs.

Had a lovely few days here . We have an 8mtr motorhome and were given a pitch with wonderful views. The owner gave us a tour of the facilities which were top notch and lots of advise on shortcuts to walk or cycle to the Roman fort, Haltwhistle and of course 'The Wall' Will be back.

Fantastic time spent here, had originally booked tent site, but due to the weather taking a turn for the worst in September, changed my booking to the bunk barn. So glad we did - we stayed 2 nights over the English half-term hols, and the last night it rained cats and dogs and blew a gale - and was freezing to boot! 2 adults and 4 kids, we slept like logs. Graham and Pat were away in Spain, but we had excellent service from Barbara. The toilet block is superb, the location can't be faulted. Dinner at Twice Brewed is to be recommended.

This is the second time we've visited this site and it's been recently upgraded with a brand new facilities block. Showers are now spotlessly clean and always hot and powerful. Despite the upgrade the increase in price is very slight. The area is beautiful and ideal for Hadrina's Wall, Hexham and Kielder. Will certainly return.

Spent two weeks here at this site just south of the Northumberland National Park and a quarter mile south of Hadrian's Wall.
The site is beautifully laid out with one of the best toilet / washroom facilities that I have ever seen.
There is a bunk barn, fully equipped and even a library! Abundant hookups are provided, and the owners, Graham and Pat and their assistant, Barbara, could not have been more pleasant and helpful.
The views from the site, looking west, are lovely and the Roman forts of Housesteads, Chesters and Carvoran are nearby. There is an active 'dig' at Vindolanda two miles away.
There are no designated playing areas for children and there is little for them to do except walk, but this is an active sheep farm which, itself, is of interest.
Shopping is available three miles away at Haltwhistle and there are two pubs nearby along the military road--not suitable for walking, narrow with fast traffic.
An altogether delightful site, we shall be back!

Great campsite with amazing facilities. Really clean and new toilet/shower block and even a free fridge/freezer for the use of campers. The site is terraced so all pitches are quite level, and there are great views. No pitches are that far from the facilities compared to many campsites. Quiet and peaceful at night, although one night we did have a late arrival who pitched their tent at midnight only a few metres from ours. It would be better if no arrivals were allowed after about 10pm, or if late arrivals were restricted to camping near the entrance.
The only downside to the facilities is the dodgy water pressure, which is rather variable, although we were warned about it in advance.
Good value, and I would definitely return again.

Loved the site and the campsite manager and owner but had a tough time with the weather both times we visited. The location is beautiful, the facilities are excellent and the staff made us feel very welcome, very happy to assist with queries and problems.
Loads to do in the area walking, but our visits were shorter than planned because of the downpours. Would love to go back if assured of better weather, no mud and happier dogs!

Booked in here for a short stay-and stayed 3 weeks! Great views, friendly welcome+ top facilities in a location to die for! Kielder, east+west coasts, the lakes, even lowland Scotland within easy reach, and of course the wall and it's museums. The atmosphere made it for me though, touring alone you don't always feel too welcome, but this site and it's genial staff were great. I shall definitely be back, regularly I expect, and I've yet to try the in-house cooked breakfast! A real gem.

I have recently visited this site, and was very impressed by the friendly atmosphere promoted by the staff and management. The site is well run and found to be well maintained and the recently added bunk house together with the adjoining facility block is superb.
I will certainly be visiting again and for those who like walking in the beautiful local countryside, you could do no better than to have a chat with the proprietor for local walking advice.
