It was our first time camping and this camp site was brill. We arrived late afternoon and the weather was raining real bad but that didn't stop the warm welcome we received.
Despite the weather the campsite was really busy and I would recommend this campsite, we are hoping to go again at the end of the month.
The campsite is just outside haltwhistle which is a very small town, but if you like the piece and quiet then this campsite is for you.
There is a shop on site and if there is no-one in the shop they ask you to go to the caravan were they will gladly come over to the shop for you to purchase stuff.

I stayed here whilst doing the Hadrian's Wall Path. The site is close to Peel Gap on the path and easy to locate.
I didn't use too many of the facilities but the toilets and showers were clean and tidy. The shower in the same block as the men's toilets had a problem whereby only a very slow flow of water came out making showering difficult, but other than that things were fine.
The site is close to the Roman remains of Vindolanda and some of the best remaining visible sections of Hadrian's Wall. This is also some of the more challenging sections of the path however so be prepared for bad weather and high winds, even during late spring. Nearby is also a nice pub at Twice Brewed that serves good food until 9pm.

This was our very first camping weekend which coincided with a race I ran.
Very happy with our welcome and went out their way to show us around and gave us an option for our pitch.
We opted for a full English breakfast in the morning and it was braw, everything locally bought and fresh.
Shower block was fine, clean and hot water 24hrs.
I can't say too much about anything as this was our first time camping so nothing to compare it to but we will certainly be returning to this site sometime in the future.

My wife and I and our two dogs have just returned home after spending 3 nights at this site. We found it to have excellent facilities.
The heated toilet/ shower block was kept very clean and although having only 3 showers and 3 toilets in each of the ladies and gents they coped well even though the site was pretty much full.
The pitches are all level even though the site is on an incline the way they are terraced makes use of the available space. Excellent area for walking/cycling.
The wardens are very nice people and very obliging. Breakfasts can be had in the small cafe which is ideal if backpacking in bad weather.
Small on site shop provides essentials. Good pubs nearby, lots of small villages to explore.
Hadrians wall nearby. All in all a very nice site which we hope to return to.

Stayed here over the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday and found it a really great site. We stayed on a newly constructed pitch on the top field.
It had great views although it was very blustery and was only a very short walk back down to the facilities.
Nowhere on the site was very far from the bathroom block/reception area.
There was plenty of info about local attractions on the site and we were only a 15 minute walk form the wall itself.
The staff were very friendly and the site was clean and well maintained. Recommended.

This is a Fantastic site the owners were very helpful and friendly.
The site is beautiful, very countrysidey!
All the pitches are located in great spots no slopes. Very clean and tidy, with a shop for emergencies and top ups.
Excellent shower and toilet facilities.
The use of the fridge and freezer is most helpful.
Clean washing up area.
Play den for children.
We will definitely be back, without a doubt!

We stayed in the new, warm and cosy Bunk Barn which was fantastic. The owners were friendly, helpful and generous. The facilities - drying room, showers, cooking, shop, cafe, breakfast, packed lunch provision - were all great. Everything was clean and warm. Can't recommend highly enough and would definitely consider revisiting. It is within a couple of kms walk of the Hadrian's Wall National Trail and really good for access.

This is a great site with nice facilities it is run by really helpful friendly wardens. We visited this site in January and it was great although due to frozen ground the mains water had frozen so showers didn't work and toilets need to be flushed with buckets, we paid a reduced rate as facilities were limited due to weather. The owner thought we were mad and I think he was right, we were the only people daft enough to be camping in -4c. We had planned to stay for just one night to check everything was ok with our folding camper after the bad snow of the winter. During the night we stayed on site we had 4inches of snow fall so one night became 2nights as it was impossible to drive or tow on the lane outside of the site. The wardens were fab and offered to give us a lift to sainsburys and back so we could get provisions. The following day the roads were safer to drive on so we were able to drive our car up to main road and the warden kindly offered to tow our trailer up to main road for us in his 4x4. I would recommend this site as being in a quiet location yet not too far from A69 so ideal for exploring Northumberland also the Wardens were so generous and helpful during a trying time.

This is a great little site, well off the beaten track and with spectacular walking directly from the site. Be aware: the white minor road up from the A69 does not signpost the site and for good reason, it is incredibly steep and narrow. We did however manage to get a 29 foot RV towing a car up it, but it is not easy. Far better to approach on the B6319 north of the site from Haltwhistle, and from here the site is signposted.
The facilities are very good here, with full 3G for those wanting the internet via a dongle; good hot showers, radio and heaters in the bathrooms which are kept very clean.
All the utilities are situated in one building which includes a book swap, laundry etc. The laundry is a bit pricey at £4.50 for a wash and tumble dry, and its a bit of a pain that you have to ask the owner to unlock the washing machine in order to use it, and its a standard domestic one rather than professional type laundry: so you don't get much for your money. However showers and hairdryers are free.
The wash up is outside but again clean and well lit. Those backpacking it are particularly well served with a bothy, cooking area and more. There are ducks, geese and chickens all around the site and also a very cute, escaped pet rat! He is rather gorgeous and lives around the pond.
For the kids there is not only a play den/wendy house but of course the animals, and lots of room to play. The hard standing pitches are a good size (no problems fitting in our RV) though if the place was fully occupied I could see it feeling a little cramped.
Luckily we were here in October and the place was lovely and quiet, with just a few walkers turning up each night. Electric and drinking water is readily available but though there is a chemical toilet disposal point there is nowhere for motorhomes to dump grey or black water.
The owners are very friendly and also quite apologetic about the pricing - £28 per night for 2 adults and 3 kids. We had a full guided tour of the facilities, were given a great pitch and lots of advice on walks and things to see.
Of course the main reason for coming here is Hadrian's Wall, and this campsite is right below some of the best preserved sections of the wall, superb walking and wonderful sites which can be visited on foot or by car.
The area is outstanding and the walking great: with walks beginning right from the site. All the major Roman sites including Vindolanda are within very easy driving distance.
In terms of amenities, Haltwhistle is a 5 minute drive and has a small but adequate Co-op, pharmacy, laundrette, banks, plenty of pubs, etcetera. The Twice Brewed Inn is only about 3 miles to the east and had a great menu plus free WiFi.
In summary this is a fantastic site for those wishing to walk and explore the frontiers of the Roman Empire. Its a little pricey and be careful of the minor roads if in a big vehicle, but excellent.

Spent a couple nights here over a weekend in early September and found it to be a busy site but well organised and with all the facilities we needed - a warm welcome, electric hook up and hot showers. Seemed exceptionally well set up for hikers, what with a bunkhouse and independent cooking area but obviously popular with campers of all sorts.
Great for walking the Wall and the bus service that runs along the Military Road is efficient and helpful, including dropping us off at the end of the lane which was actually between stops.
