Lovely site very quiet and well maintained. Excellent toilet block cleaned very often. Showers are lovely, even a free hairdryer and a sauna. The owners are friendly and helpful, the site is very clean. Lovely views of around. Nothing a problem, we have stayed at this site quite a few times and the same welcome every time

We arrived at this site without booking on friday night at about 7.30 because we decided not to stay at a different site, all the hard standings were full but they went out of there way to help, plugging us into the barns electric
In the pitch black and gale force winds I could not speak highly enough of the people on this site. The site it self is very well kept with immaculate facilities and local info there is also very friendly chickens and ducks walking around. A great site set in wonderful countryside.

We visit this site 4 or 5 times a year and love it! Graham (the owner) is very helpful with knowledge of the local area and often wanders around the site on an evening making sure everyone is ok. The site itself is built on a hill which take the form of huge steps(tiers!)! the pitches are flat and there is plenty of room!
The new log cabin is great and the bathroom facilities are brilliant and always clean! there's is plenty of washing up areas and laundry room with a fridge and small freezer for icepacks etc! there's even a book exchange!
There is a tie up area for dogs which always has a bowl of water available for them too while your busy with your washing up etc!
It has lovely views and its sooo quiet during the day there is only one road in and out of it which gives it a lovely secluded feel. The only sounds between 10am and 4pm is birds sheep and the odd cow!
Theres also a bunkbarn which we are yet to use but I'm sure we will this year!
Its only a short drive to haltwhistle which has everything you could need - the little co-op sells almost anything! there are 2 pubs a short distance form the site although out of the 2 I would reccomend the twice brewed inn on the military road lovely food and good atmopsphere! (Sunday lunches are fab!)
The only thing I could gripe with is the last time we camped there, there was several large groups (one of adults and kids the other a school group) which were up almost the whole night with kids singing and shouting and the adults had a bit of a argument going on but we just shifted to the next teir up away from it all and it was fine - we will continue to use the site so long as the large groups are not a regular thing which to be fair we have only ever had this problem once - its just unlucky it was the two groups in the same night!
In all id give it an A star and would recommend to anyone walking the wall or just for a relaxing weekend!

Third visit to this excellent site. Set in secluded area, about 2 miles east of Haltwhistle and 10 miles west of Hexham. It is only a couple of miles from the A69, but you wouldn't think it, being so isolated. Nearest pubs are about a mile away. Hadrian's Wall is a ten minute walk and the site acts as an excellent base for a 12 mile round trip walk to Housteads.
Staff on site are excellent and can't do enough to help, but at the same time the place is not at all spoilt by rules, that you often find on sites. Facilities are brand new, in log-cabin style buildings and there is even a sauna. The site also has an excellent little log cabin bunk barn with living area, TV and kitchen.

We stayed at this site for a week. The weather was appalling for most of the time, extremely heavy rain. Due to the adverse weather conditions the ground was very wet, at one stage we were surrounded by 2' of water, not pleasant for us in a caravan but very difficult for other members of our group who were in a tent. The reason for the flooding was due to the duck pond overflowing straight onto the pitches below it. The owner had been trying to prevent this happening by pumping water from the pond into the drains, but unfortunately was not successful. The owner was very concerned about his grass pitches, to the extent when anyone went to move their car on the pitches below the toilet area, my son had a bet as to how quickly the man would arrive to tell them to be careful not to spin their wheels!
The site as I have stated was very wet and muddy in places, but to be fair, the toilet block was always clean, even though the site was packed all of the time.
The site was also very crowded and there was very little space between units (certainly not enough to park a car). All cars had to be parked in front of your unit, preferably facing downhill towards the exit gate, because the ground was too wet for anything over than a 4x4 to drive easily on it.

Wonderful site with the best facilities ever. Large showers, clean washrooms and even a fridge for keeping a few beers chilled to enjoy after a days walking along the wall! Bus service was excellent as it picked us up at end of the lane one day and another day after a long walk to Housesteads it dropped us back again. You just need to smile and put out your hand! Both pubs were wonderful but did tend to get busy early evening. With 3 teenage kids to feed, the wetherspoons in Hexham was a great find. Our pitch was opposite the toilet block, which if you dont wear earplugs as we do,could be a bit noisy especially early in the mornings. Nice flat pitch with plenty space for diablo 900 and 4x4. Will definitely be going back next year.

What a beautiful site this is. The warden is easily found and more than willing to chat, offer local information and help out in emergencies (we needed a jumpstart after running our car battery flat). On arrival he will talk you through the site and gives you options of where you may wish to pitch your tent.
The facilities block is beautiful, purpose built wood cabin, clean, heated and even music, it's well kept and there are freezer / fridge facilities and even a sauna! The showers and hairdryers are free.
There is a large meadow which means a walk to the main site for facilities but plenty of people were happy there. We stayed on the main site and loved the very humourously named levels, the top one being 'Everest' with 'K2' just below it. Electric hookup is only up as far as K2.
There is nothing really for children on the site and the closest pub means a drive or a walk of a couple of miles. I'd recommend this site as being an ideal walking base for the Hadrian's Wall area and will certainly be back again!

A lovely little site with a helpful warden and nice clean facilities. The showers were hot and the sinks were clean again with plenty of hot water. The cost was reasonable even with electric. It is very close to Hadrians' Wall, about a ten minute walk away. The surrounding countryside is mostly moorland and tends to be windy so take a coat. The only downsides were that the site could do with some hardstandings for caravans and campers, the other was the children didn't appear to have anywhere to play football so they played on the grass near the pitches, very annoying when a ball keeps hitting a campervan or caravan. Having said that I would return again outside of the school holidays.

While looking for a campsite for our holiday at Hadrians Wall we decided on this one. Well, what a fabulous surprise. The amenities were brill, super clean and heated shower block, laundry and use of fridgefreezer. All this for a small and very friendly site within 5 mins walk to the wall. There even was a small pond with a resident duck! There are large scale maps for you to organise your route and the owners were friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Views are impressive and although somewhat windy as in the hills we would definitely use this site again and again (just take a fleece!)

This was a lovely campsite, really close to all of the historic attractions in the area, such as Vindolanda (well worth a visit), the Roman Army Museum, and, of course, Hadrian's Wall itself. The views in the area are stunning, particularly the quarries near the wall, with their lakes and sheer faces. If you like taking pictures, this place is a paradise.
As far as the campsite itself is concerned, the owners were very friendly, and gave us a tour of all the facilities on arrival, which included an absolutely immaculate shower and toilet block, with laundry room and a sauna! There were also outdoor washing up facilities, and a cooking area incase of bad weather.
The campsite is beautifully kept, with ducks and hens adding to the lovely feel. All in all, a very nice site, and we would recommend it to anybody.
