Arrived late afternoon, and after locating the warden, was directed to the owners house. She greeted us all, and was very friendly. After taking our booking-in details she showed us around the site, allowing us to choose where we wanted to pitch. We were fully informed of all the facilities on offer, and told if there's anything we need, just ask.
The site itself has been kept immaculate, nice short grass, or the option of the 'wild meadow', if you want to camp in the longer grassed areas.
Shower block was very clean, tidy and well stocked with loo rolls. Showers on a timer, but personally not a problem for me and my daughters (10 and 14).
Lots to do in the local area, if you enjoy walks and history. Nice little pubs, and although we didn't order food it looked and smelt amazing.
Met some lovely people, in particular the campers next to us, very friendly. Overall, really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others.

We booked onto this site for one night only but we're so impressed with it that we decided to stay all week. It is easy to visit most of the places we want to see without the problem of finding another site, especially in the busiest season. The owners are very pleasant and helpful and keep the site immaculate. There are toilet and shower blocks and a laundry room, very useful when you are travelling. We would recommend giving this site a visit.

Stayed for 7 nights wish it had been 14 ! Great site with very clean facilities and obliging staff. We pitched up on the top level and had the most fantastic views and as the site promises amazing sunsets. Can not recommend this site enough on the one bad day we had torrential rain and following day site drained and all dry, believe me it had rained. ( Gelert Atlantis 5 stood up to it ). Showers and toilet block spotless and seemed to be cleaned constantly as always soap toilet paper towels etc available. Get yourself a good quality cooked breakfast from on site cafe if you don't fancy cooking, starts the day off a treat. Great site and testimony to its owners and staff, recommend a visit.

I and 2 friends spent 4 nights at this campsite in June. We had 2 small tents and were allocated a pitch which took both tents comfortably. The pitch was relatively flat and well maintained. The grass was short and there were no bare patches.
Toilets, showers and dish washing facilities were very clean and regularly checked. There was a small hut for cooking with a double gas ring, table and 6 chairs. We used it on a windy night and on our last morning when rain threatened and we wanted to get the tents down and packed away while it was still dry.
Staff were exceptional - very friendly and helpful. Their local knowledge was extensive and they booked a really nice pub for a meal on our last night.
An excellent site. We will return to do the rest of Hadrian's Wall!

Lovely peaceful site and welcoming owner and staff - if you abide by the high standards of the site that is. If you don't you will be told and then you have 2 choices - stay and do as asked or leave - simples! Shower blocks spotless clean, the showers are free and hot: they are on a push button which is not a hassle, free hair dryer, reasonable site shop, laundry facilities, good information to hand. Basically the perfect site for getting away from the hustle and bustle.
It is a nice walking distance to Hadrians Wall, probably about 15-20 mins. The Milecastle Inn (left at the military road) is smaller than the Twice Brewed pub (right at the military road) but both are well worth the walk 1. 5-2 miles. The food at the Milecastle is delicious, didn't sample that at the Twice Brewed but the sofas there were very welcoming :) Haltwhistle has a very good chippy -The Friary and a very quaint train station with a lot of history.
All in all thoroughly recommend it and will certainly return.

We stayed for a long weekend and there had been lots of rain and site was very wet but still busy. The site is in tiers and all have names of mountains, Everest, Anna Purna etc. It's a great site for a base for walking as its close to Hadrians wall. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The shower/toilet block was immaculate (even with the weather) and although the shower timer is short the water was hot. The little shop sells basic stuff but does some lovely home made scones and cakes and you can order a hot breakfast the night before. There is a group of ducks who wander round waiting for you to feed them which entertained the young fella who was with us. The only downside was the wind, due to the lay of the land it forms a bit of a wind tunnel which can be quite blustery! However, we have been there before and we will surely go back there again.

What an excellent site! Great welcome from the owner who went out of his way to be helpful and accommodating - great value as well and very convenient for Hadrians wall path and the various Roman sites. Extremely well equipped site with great attention to detail and wonderfully clean. We really enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer, we could not recommend this site more highly. Thank you.

Book this site in march for 2 touring pitches and paid a deposit on my debit card for me and my sister in law. When we arrived we got greeted with hope you are not together. So we ended up not being near each other. Also on the web page says their is a children den. Nope wardens very polite. Owner very rude and we were not the only people who complained about our booking. The showers where cold. It a shame the camp site itself is nice.

Like Tracy who reviewed before us we were also worried by reviews we read after booking this site but we really did not need to be.
We Loved everything about this site. The views were fantastic from our pitch right by the entrance and we were really sheltered by the trees. On arrival the wardens said we could pitch anywhere we liked as the site was quiet. They were really friendly and even popped in later on with a takeaway menu that deliver to the site.
The facilities were fantastic. Really clean and warm with a brilliant laundry and boot drying area. The showers were lovely and warm and work on a push button every 30 seconds. The washing up area was very clean as well. The shop stocked basic necessities and the cafe was very reasonable, £1 for a cup of tea and £5 for a cooked breakfast. The EHU was 16 amp and we had no problem running a heater and various other electricals.
The site owner popped over as well and we found him to be really friendly and helpful. My Daughter loved the ducks who visited us, the owner downside is that there was no playground for her.
We will definitely be returning, the area is so peaceful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

We booked this campsite via the internet and afterwards read the reviews which were very negative, so we were very apprehensive on arrival.
We were welcomed by the warden Andy who was very helpful. He took us on a tour of the camps facilities where we met the owner who turned out to be extremely courteous and helpful and he had a very good (if a little mischievous), sense of humour! We were immediately put at ease and wondered about the reviews we had read!
Although a little remote the site has all the facilities needed for camping, the showers, toilets and drying rooms were immaculate at all times. We were asked if we wanted a cooked breakfast too! There are lots of places to eat nearby and loads of things to do and see within a 15 mile radius, the Roman sites and museums and heritage centres and walks are fab! We will be back!
