Just spent a weekend here in our touring caravan with our two children and two dogs. My sister and her family came along in their tent.
Staff on site were friendly and accommodating. First site I've visited where tents were next to caravans a new experience! pitches weren't particularly level and for novice caravanner's a bit daunting!. Our electric points were located beyond 20 metre cable length from pitches which meant we had to share an extension cable with my sister - which caused the electric to trip frequently.
Toilet block was immaculate and pot washing area was always clean. Quiet site with fantastic scenery and some beautiful walks.
Quite expensive for basic facilities. Possibly more suited to tents than tourers.

Just spent 7 days at this site and it is fair to say this is probably one of the best sites I have used. Great location; peaceful; ideal for a relaxing time. Facilities are excellent and kept very clean at all times - lashings of hot water constantly available. Mains hookup on many pitches. Ideal central spot for visiting the wall and associated sites. Pubs serving good food close by or 10min trip to Haltwhistle for Co Op or Sainsburys. Spoil yourself with an awesome breakfast in the owners kitchen beautifully prepared by Barbara or Helen and well worth the £6 especially as the eggs come from the farm chickens. They also keep the owner, Graham, in order and his dry sense of humour adds to the joy of the stay. The 3 of them certainly make you welcome and you feel like family. Will definitely return.

Stayed here for one night on the way to Bamburgh. Lovely site, with very hardworking owners. We were given a choice of pitches and chose one on Everest. Fantastic views with a bit of shelter provided by hedges.
The facilities were amazingly clean especially as the site was pretty full. Free hot showers with space to hang clothes and a free hairdryer too. There is a laundry room and sauna, but we weren't there long enough to use it. We chose not to bring cooking gear for just one night so enjoyed a cold beer from the fridge on arrival and a full English breakfast the next day. Beautifully cooked and highly recommended.
The area is just as lovely as the Lake District, but much quieter. We had a couple of lovely walks on Hadrian's Wall, and visited Birdoswald only a few miles away. We'll definitely visit again as there's so much still to do!

The best campsite we have ever stayed! The owners are friendly and helpful, the campsite has lovely clean facilities. The showers in particular are excellent and even though the campsite was pretty full, we never had to queue. The views are spectacular with plenty of walks if you take a dog like we did (and dogs are free at this campsite - bonus!). There's a good pub on the Military Road within walking distance where you can sit outside with your dog, and Haltwhistle isn't far away (we tended to drive in to get supplies as it would have been a fair walk back to carry groceries). It was an easy drive to Newcastle and Hexham and there are plenty of Roman sites nearby. The walk along Hadrian's Wall in particular, near to the campsite, is spectacular.
This is how campsites should be.

Just returned after a fantastic weekend at this site. The facilities were first class, very impressed, the only downside were the showers were a little low (ideal if you are 5 foot) but that would be being picky.
The site was very well run, Graham was always around checking on things, tidying up etc
Limited supplies in the 'shop' but local supermarkets 5 mins away if required.
We took 3 children under 8 and they enjoyed the walks and local animals, not much for them on site but plenty locally, the outdoor swimming pool in Haltwistle went down very well.
I would highly recommend this site, we will be visiting again.

What a gem! only stopped for one night to try out new folding camper as it was only 40mins up the road.
Owner great, guided tour of site, showed us to pitch. Ample sized for camper & awning.
No park for kids but they enjoyed running around site anyway.
Toilet block is excellent, even has sauna! minor issue of water in toilet block going off for a while which meant no flush or shower! it was back on the within a few hrs. Little windy & odd shower but well worth a visit. £10 for unit, £2 per person over 10yrs & £2.50 for electric if you want it. No charge for dogs

Arrived in a howling gale and heavy rain showers and were disappointed to be told that the hardstandings were all taken. We were assured that the pitch chosen by the owner, Graham, would not cause us any problems and he was proved to be correct.
The owners and warden are welcoming and ensure that all new arrivals are shown all of the facilities and offered any assistance that maybe required, in our case some heavy duty levelling blocks were provided.
The facilities block is based in a log cabin style building which is heated and clean with a plentiful supply of hot water. Laundry facilities include washing machine and tumble dryer which are chargeable but there is a spin drier that is free to use. The laundry room is warm and can be used as a drying room.
Follow the car park signs in Haltwhistle and you will find a Sainsburys with a large camper van friendly car park.
Plenty of walking and cycling in the immediate area - leave the van on the site, grab an OS map and enjoy yourselves.
This is a charming little site in a good area and we will be back again.

We were here for 3 Nights with our son & nephew. There is no playpark, but they enjoyed feeding the ducks and going to see the chickens. The toilets are kept clean all the time and the warden was always in cleaning up. Lucky none of us are tall as the height of the shower head isn't vey high up. If you had a tent they had a fridge / freezer that you could use and a cooking area. At the bottom of the road
When you have left the campsite either left or right there is pubs both serving food. We went to Vindolanda which was very interesting and the boys enjoyed this. You are not far from either Newcastle or Carlisle. There is a chipshop in Haltwhistle if required, also a Co-op. We were only at the chip shop that's when I also noticed the Co-op.

Just returned home from this excellent site. My sister and her husband booked this site to try out their new tent so wanted me and my family to tag along in our caravan. I'm glad we did, we arrived Friday morning and was made to feel very welcome by the owner, she showed us around the site, pointing out everything we needed to know. The toilet / shower block must rate as one of the best I've seen on my travels, everything was spotless,as the lady warden who lives in her motorhome was constantly checking on them. Although there was no kids playground this did not stop my 10 year old son enjoying himself, he,s wanting to go every weekend. I must admit I'd go beck to this site anytime.

We picked this campsite for our first family camping trip. We are a family of 3 with an 8 year old son and picked this site as it was only an hour from home, just in case we found camping was not for us!
We found the people who ran this site very friendly, welcoming and laid back. The site itself was great, we were sited at the top of the site on a plot called Everest and although it was a little windy it gave great views across the surrounding area. The site's facilities were very clean and well maintained. They even has a sauna!
The other people using the site were very friendly and our son easily made friends.
We really enjoyed and would recommend Vindolanda (roman excavation site) and the Roman Army Museum which are just 10 minutes drive away.
