Lovely and pretty landscaped site. Had a huge flat pitch area which was useful so could avoid wet patches of grass from rain before, so no probs.
Owners very friendly and informative and good covid rules for showers and loos which were spotless.
Had a brilliant time looking around the area with beautiful scenery.
Lovely place to come back to 😃

What a great site in a beautiful location.
The owners/staff are welcoming and knowledgeable and obviously care a great deal about the site, the facilities and the safety of their guests.
Wish we had stayed longer. Highly recommended.

The camping site is big, in a beautiful area. Clean and very well organised with showers, toilets and plugs available in case your powerbank doesn’t work.
Tracy and Steve are two lovely hosters on the camping site, they show you all around and how things work over there, specially with the covid-19 situation now. They do delicious breakfast as well.
I have only good things to say about this camping site, definitely coming back to stay over the weekend.
If you enjoy taking big walks with the beautiful view of nature and animals all around, 40 min you can find a restaurant called Twice Brewed who sells good craft beer and lovely food! You need to book there, beautiful area to have a meal. Also the camping is very close of the Sycamore Gap which you can visit during the trail on Hadrian’s Wall, such a beautiful place! Nature lovers as myself will definitely enjoy walking around exploring the area.
Finishing the trail on Haidrian’s wall you can refresh yourself on The Sill crossing the road.
If you’re not going with your own car you can take the bus AD122 from Hexham Bus Station which will take 5 min walking to the camp if you ask the driver. And the place to get the bus back to Hexham it’s only 20min walking, close to the pub called The Mile castle - Haltwhistle. To sum up, very good camping site, well located!

Nice site with good walks on the doorstep.
Adherence to Govt guidelines to protect against Covid on site and in facilities excellent.
With a little thought to the use of some of the pitches will make this an excellent site.

We chose this site because we had been wanting to explore Hadrians Wall and the nearby Roman sites for a while. The location really is perfect for this - it's all in the name!
Tracy met us and explained the social distancing measures they had put in place around the toilet/shower block. These measures worked pretty well and didn't inconvenience us greatly, even though the site was busy, and the facilities were kept immaculately clean.
The site is very attractively landscaped on a number of rising terraces, the higher ones being reserved for motorhomes and tents. Touring caravan pitches are on the grass semi-circle near the entrance gate, and don't have open views. This area is uneven and has a significant slope which made manoeuvring our 7. 3m van difficult without grounding the rear corners. However once tucked in with our back to the fence we able to just about get level. Some motor homes which came onto this area found levelling more difficult. As the other pitches around us became occupied, space between them became rather tighter than we usually find and a bit random. Our last night was very wet and I expected problems getting off the pitch, being at the bottom of the slope, but the ground remained firm. To avoid skidding and ripping up he grass, though, I used the mover to get the van onto the site road - a good decision I think.
There is a little cafe on the site which would have been very welcome to the tent campers and cycle tourists I would think. TV reception was good and the free WIFI was better than most sites, even those where you have to pay for it.
We achieved our objective in hiking a part of the wall - access is very easy direct from the site and very rewarding it was too, with some spectacular sections. Of the Roman sites we visited, Housteads, Corbridge and Vindolanda, we thought the latter by far the best, particularly the magnificent museum. A worthwhile visit nearby but away from Roman stuff was the very pleasant walk along Allendale - a fairly easy 5. 5 miles.
The pub/restaurant at Twice Brewed (or was it Once?) was open and of course strictly observed proper hygiene measures. My first beer since March!
Overall, a highly recommended site, but better suited to motorhomes than caravans.

Very clean, well organised and extremely friendly.
Surrounded by footpaths with the town about 45 mins walk away.
Highly recommended but please don't go just in case it is too busy for me to book in again 🤭

We booked a caravan pitch at the site over the weekend of 4th July. We were desperate to get away as lockdown restrictions were lifted!
Tracy did a wonderful job of informing us by email beforehand how social distancing and hygiene measures would operate around the facilities block.
They had a terrific system in place and everyone adhered by guidelines. Pitchs were spaced so that there was no issue with social distancing around your own unit.
This was our first visit to the site and we will definitely return. Hadrian's Wall is a short walk away and there are many scenic walking routes nearby.
Haltwistle is 5 minutes by car and there are two pubs The Twice Brewed (which we visited and can recommend) and the Milecastle nearby.

We had a great nights camping here, celebrating my sons 4th birthday. On arrival, it was a very welcoming reception.
Social distancing was respected and the facilities arrangements to avoid overcrowding were explained clearly.
There was very little if any waiting time to use the facilities and they were immaculately clean at all times. The site were very accommodating in placing us next to my parents who were joining us for the night.
Between us, we had 5 big dogs, and it was never a problem. Unfortunately there was a weather warning for wind that night. And it didn’t make for a great nights sleep-nothing to do with the site.
It is a small site, and the pitches are fairly close together, but there was no disturbance and it meant a short stroll to the facilities.
We had a great visit- thank you Hadrians Wall campsite-
I would definitely recommend 😊
