Great location for the wall. Nice and remote. Be prepared as shops are not nearby but 2 pubs are :-) within walking distance. We are keen cyclists but even though there is the new sustrans cycle route through the area, it is "on road" and quite hilly. We walked the wall and then headed to Kielder forest for the cycling. On the downside at this site were - the pitches were not level - toilet block was pretty cramped (4 wc's to cater for approx 70 campers!) - showers uncontrollable (held together with gaffer tape!) - 1 very small fridge in need of a clean - the 2005 leaflet for sites in the area quotes price as £4/tent + £1/camper. - I was quoted online £6/tent + £1/camper. - When we went to pay the warden said "is £20 ok for 2 night"
We paid £16 for 2 nights but other couples in the same size tent paid more!

Fantastic little site. Superbly friendly owner. He even squeezed us in, at 9 pm on a friday, despite me getting the impression that he was full. Great value at £20 for the weekend. Showers basic but always clean.(cheeky devil even got me to run a mop over.....how could I refuse !) We will be back, but will book next time and take the kids to walk the wall.

A fabulous site – I would certainly recommend it. The owner is very friendly and helpful – the little extras like the breakfasts etc (a must for your last morning when you are too busy packing to cook) really do make a difference. The facilities are adequate and thoughtfully provided (fridge, hairdryer & free showers etc). Also the lay out of the site ensures everyone gets a level pitch and it doesn’t feel crowded. Small and quiet but not oppressively so.
The situation is fabulous for Hadrian’s Wall, the associated museums and attractions, and not far from either Newcastle or Carlisle. The two nearest pubs were both friendly and welcoming and the food at both was amazing. We will be back.

June 2005 What a fantasic site!! Small and rural, with fantastic views and less than 1 mile pleasant walk to Hadrians Wall. You can also walk to the market town of Haltwhistle, about two miles away where there is a range of shops. The owner is very friendly and the facilities are clean, including free showers, free hairdryer in the ladies and use of washing or drying machine for £2 contribution. Fridge/ freezer also in utility room to re-freeze your ice packs!
Beautiful site with small pond and family of duck, plus a few chickens roaming the site! The owner can do cooked breakfasts by arrangement, you can also buy BBQ packs of meat from him. There are two pubs nearby - Twice Brewed, where the food and beer is excellent (loads of choice if you're veggie) and at the Mile Castle (drinks a bit expensive, we didn't have any food.)
Plenty of level pitches, and a nice mix of tents, camper vans and caravans. We will be back!

June 2005 We spent a week at Hadrians Wall Caravan site, and found it to be an ideal location to visit both sides of the country plus all local Roman sites, although small and with limited facilaties we had a fantastic stay and would recommend this site to all.
The friendly way the owner looks after each camper makes this site special, he supplies a small selection of basic needs such as eggs, bread, and milk. We will return to this site without question
