Heavy rain and camping do not make good partners, but the very friendly welcome you get on this site makes all the difference. Why can’t all site owners/staff be this friendly and helpful?
The site has large individually hedged pitches with a combination of hardstandings for the vehicle/unit and grass for the awning. All pitches have EHU and water (turned off for Winter to avoid burst pipes). This adult only site is set in a peaceful location 2 ½ miles from Buxton no doubt with great views when it’s dry. A bus stop is located directly outside the site entrance providing a regular service to Buxton/Ashbourne.
The site owners have gone the extra mile with nice touches and details. Toiletries in WC, books and games to use, even a boules pitch with boules provided.
The toilet/facilities block is very clean and modern, however it only has two shower (plus one in the disabled WC), and would present a problem at peak season given the number of pitches at this site.
There are no local shops in the immediate area, but the site owner is in the process of constructing a new building for the reception/shop/and site café. At the moment nearest shopping is in Buxton and the surprising pleasant Tradesmen’s Entrance Café at Market Place offering good food at a reasonable price – well worth a trip for a late breakfast or lunch.

Shouldn't really leave this review because we may never get a pitch again. This has to be one of the best sites that we have stayed on. Greeted by a very nice young lady who was very patient with us while we chose a pitch. Spotless toilets and massive showers. (Lovely touch with the cotton balls, hand lotion and music in the toilets). Excellent pitch size separated by hedges. The price was very reasonable and other sites should take a leaf out of their book and charge a flat fee whatever time of the year you stay. The book swap is a good idea. A very quiet site, just perfect. It is only a 40 minute walk into Buxton which is lovely. Try Barbarellas for a meal, absolutely fab!
The bookstore just down the road is an excellent way to while away a few hours. The Church Inn at Chelmorton, 40 minutes away in the other direction, also serves lovely food.

We have just got back from a fantastic weekend at this site and will totally agree with all the other reviews of this site. When we got there we were met at our pitch by the owner who straight away made us feel welcome and gave us all the info about the surrounding area.
The showers and toilets are immaculate even with some mints and free toiletries for you to use and to top that 24hr music playing within the block. Whether you have a car, plus a caravan, plus awning and a dog it's the same fixed rate, this year it's £22. 50, which for service you are getting is fantastic. Planned for next year is an on site café (looking forward to that) and above all the owners cannot do enough for you whilst you are there. We will definitely be returning to this site for a very peaceful and kid free break. Heaven.

We've had two visits here this year - March & August - it's our regular 'stamping ground'. Been coming here for several year, Jan, Stephen and Jodie are now firm friends.
What can I say? Welcome is always profuse; the facilities are good (the new showers are lovely), maybe the washing up facilities could be improved a little, although there is always the laundry room!
Bus service past the site has improved, although still a bit 'hit and miss' - but good for getting into Buxton, with its shops, a couple of supermarkets, the Pavilion, and the Theatre. The Church Inn at Chelmorton is worth trying for a meal, and don't forget to call in the bookshop just down the road at Brierlow Bar.
Pleasant walks all around, with interesting Derbyshire villages and tea-rooms to explore. Hopefully next season will also see Jan's tea-room up and running. (Mine's tea and bacon buttie, Jan!)
With the new 'super-pitches just about commissioned, this site is definitely on the up.
See you next season, Jan! (But - be careful, your prices are creeping up a bit too steadily).

A lovely site we had intended to visit in May this year but had to cancel at short notice and the proprietors were very sympathetic. We booked again for a 10 night break in August and were well impressed when we got there. You have a warm greeting via the intercom at the electric entry gate and given comprehensive directions to your pitch, where you are then met by a lovely lady with a welcome pack! We felt like royalty!
There are high hornbeam hedges between all the capacious pitches, which are two thirds hardstanding and one third grass so you can pitch up how you wish. (Not having to pull up this or that side of a peg, nose out or in etc. Often such restrictions on the CC sites cause a lot of inconvenience to owners of foreign vans, like our little Eriba). Everything is included in the pitch fee; awning, dogs, electric etc. The only extra you are charged for is the option of having a paper delivered in the morning!
The toilet block is spotless and pristine, the wet room showers are stunning, there is a bin, hook-up and water for each pitch and the other facilities are only a short stroll away. There is a huge grass dog walk, with a roll of bags in case you have used or forgotten yours. An enormous bookstore is about 1/2 mile down the road and was a massive temptation we could not resist, especially as we had to pass it nearly every-time we left the site!
There is no eatery in the village but just over the road in the neighbouring village of Chelmorton is a fantastic pub, The Church Inn, which allows dogs on the tiled side of the bar. Five fantastic real ales, friendly proprietors and excellent, very tasty home cooked food; we ended eating there almost every night! If you enjoy real ale, tasty food, good pubs, cycling, walking, visiting historic houses, touring or fishing this is the area for you. This five star+ site is well planned and beautifully laid out. It is very central for touring the area and we shall certainly go back again when we want to visit the Peaks.

We booked this site as all the reviews were rating it so highly and in a peaceful setting.
The arrival was well organised and friendly, the toilets were clean and music is always pleasant whilst doing our business, but I struggle to agree with the reviews from there on.
Pitches; the majority are surrounded by 8 – 9’ beech hedges, which give privacy but you can’t see anything around you, the new pitches would be better as the hedging has not grown.
Toilets; there are 2 wet rooms with a sink, which were very good, however you have to access them from the outside, the toilets (ladies) had 3 toilets and 2 sinks with nowhere to put anything, worktop, shelves or even hooks and a little mirror to share. (gents) this was a major let down and cannot understand why it has not been mentioned before only 1 toilet, there was a queue every morning, my husband commented on how warm the seat was.
Site Location; was not bad but I would not put it in the tranquil category, the A511 was very busy morning and evening, and the site is located between the quarries in the area, we heard the quarry train early morning and evening run behind the site.
I understand they are doing a lot of work to the site the new toiled block and shop which will make a lot of difference, but be aware of the road noise.

Just got home after spending 2 glorious weeks at this wonderful 5 star hotel I mean touring site.
After visiting the site in May we decided to go for 2 weeks not one and we were not disappointed with this decision.
Upon arrival we were let through the electronic security gate and were met by our host at the pitch we had chosen, the host came armed with brochures of the local area of things to do (also a great big hug like we were old friends), we also asked about local eateries and were told objectively of some in the local area. After getting pitched Jan returned with some menu's of the places she had told us about and also had gone on line to find us some others.
The site was always immaculate and the toilets and showers were out of this world, our son has left home so an adults only site suited us just fine as for the farm animals they are separate from the camp site but you can visit them' except the chickens and the duck that visit you but if you don't want them around don't feed them (we loved them so never had any left over bread or oatmeal biscuits).
We were so sad to leave this site at the end of our holiday as we had met the whole family who own it and had taken us in to the fold, we have already booked for another 2 weeks for next year and will also try to get for at least 1 long weekend this year.
I am afraid to say that a lot of the big clubs (CC + CCC) could learn a lot of lessons on how a true campsite should be run and is being run in the middle of the peak district.
There is some building work being done even now to improve the site e. G. More pitches and a Café/Shop/Reception these will only enhance what is the best camp site we have ever been to and will keep going to.
The saddest thing for us was that we had to leave and also that we have done this review that more people will go to Clover Fields and there won't be any room for us, hence we booked a year in advance.

Stayed 4 nights for a flyball competition in Bakewell. The owners and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Quiet and very clean site and will certainly be staying there again when we are exploring the area. Fixed price for fees and no extra required for showers, just needs a chair to put clothes on and hair driers, besides that minor niggle cannot fault the site. Adult only site but likes dogs is another plus point and the other campers were friendly too. The dog exercise field was more than adequate for an active dog. There is a small shop at the house which was more for tent and caravan items than food but the papers were delivered personally to each van every morning. We were recommended to try the Church Inn in Chelmorton for a meal and were not disappointed with a friendly welcome and good food. Bakewell is a beautiful town and we enjoyed a 'Miss Marple' type of cream tea in a delightful courtyard there. Highly recommend this site.

Adult only site. Found it very easily via our sat nav, arrived at electrically operated gates and was met by a cheerful hello from the owners' daughter over the intercom, given very clear directions of where to pitch up and was met at the pitch by her too. We were handed some brochures of things to do whilst in the area and she offered to assist with the siting of the caravan, which we politely declined.
Our stay here was fantastic, absolutely loved it, didn't want to leave, and that was after 10 days there. There was so many things to do and places to visit, we went all over Derbyshire, exploring villages, walking with our dog, drinking cask ales, and climbing up Mam Tor!
The site was probably one of the best sites we had stayed at in our short time of a year using the van and we've been to about ten different ones in that time.
Great dog walk area inc bags in case you forget, piped music in loo's which are spotless and very modern inc sweets in a bowl, own black bin per pitch with communal recycling bins, very large pitches and private due to nice high hedging, lambs/sheep, ponies, alpacas and cows all on owners land in separate fields, chickens run free around the site, lots of pitches have a bird table so bring bird seed, nothing was a problem for the absolutely lovely owners, Steve and Jan, papers delivered to your van, the list goes on.
Basically, if you haven't been here you're missing out. Try it yourselves but please leave a pitch for us to return to.
Oh, nearly forgot, one way in and one way out all done on electrically operated gates with code.
Did I tell you we absolutely loved it???

As reiterated in previous reviews, this is a fantastic secure tranquil site. Pitches 100% level, water, electric hookup and dustbin on each individual pitch. Newspapers and milk delivered every morning if required. Showers and toilets immaculate including the little extras eg boiled sweets, cotton buds and body lotion. The owners are the most friendly people I have ever met and nothing is too much trouble to ensure that your stay is perfect.
In all the years we have been caravaning this is definitely the best site I have ever been on and cannot wait to back.
