My family and I visited Cloverfields for week in August and had a wonderful time. The site has a number coded gate, in and out which gives you a good secure place. All pitches are level and hardstanding, with electric, water, rubbish bin and a barbecue all enclosed by shrubs. There are two large showers at the side of a superb toilet block also with washing machine/tumble dryer. There's a dog walking area, public telephone and shop at rear of the owners house. As it is a small farm there's sheep, chickens, ducks, cows, donkeys 'O and of course the owners who will deliver your papers/eggs if you wish, to your van every morning. There's loads to do in the area ie; walking, visiting lovely towns such as Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock. Also take a trip to the Derwent Valley. All in all it is a lovely friendly Campsite well worth visiting.

Returned today after 8 nights at Clover Fields. Decided to go here after reading the reviews and can honestly say they were all spot on. This is one site you wont regret visiting and we cant wait to go again (will be booking soon)

One of the resident donkeys kept most of the site awake on saturday night / sunday morning with her braying but we forgave her when we all discovered she had given birth to the cutest baby donkey ever (think he is going to be called Gilbert!)

Definitely recommend this site to everyone.

We found this site to be very good value for money.

Water and electric close to pitches. Beautiful toilet / shower block. Shop up at the main house seemed to have a good stock of caravan items plus bread, milk, eggs, etc.

Electric gates with key code allow secure access and departure.

On arrival we were asked if we would like a paper or milk delivered to the van the next day.

Jan and her daughter are very friendly.

Pitches were of a good size - plenty room.

In between each pitch there appeared to be rubbish bins and bbq's for use, hidden behind a planted hedge. I would say the planted hedges were fairly young but gave privacy to all pitches.

Great place for visiting Buxton or getting to some great places for walking.

Will visit again.

First time at this site, chosen because of the reviews it has, there is nothing bad could be said about it!

We arrived to a warm greeting by Jody who is soon going to open a Coffee bar at the site with home baking, we were invited to contact her and mum Jan if anything at all was needed.,

The site is well laid out with good distance between each pitch and the pitches are staggered so you are not looking into each others windows.

There is a fresh water supply and hook up at each pitch complete with bins in fenced compounds.

The toilet block was fresh and clean at all times,

Jan took our granddaughter Ellie 11 years into her charge and they fed the donkeys, pony, lambs and poultry'

Ellie had a great time helping collect the eggs from the chickens, it was a first for her, at that time the site was quiet and no other children around so Jan explained she had the time to show Ellie but if we had arrived later it became hectic for her with all the new arrivals.

Jan went into the lambs compound and wrestled with a rather large lamb that didn't want to leave its mother, after seeing her in action I vowed not to argue with her for my own welfare, but once again there was a smile on her face just beaten by the grin on Ellies face

I don't know where Jan and Jody get the energy to do all the chores, apart from looking after the family there was always someone to see to and always greeted with a big infectious smile.

We were so impressed we stopped another 2 nights making a total of 6 nights, would have loved to stay longer but commitments stopped us,

My wife Judith and I will be back as soon as we can book in after the school holidays just to savour the tranquillity of the site and to sample some more truly fresh eggs.

I can recommend this site without hesitation, give it a try and compare others to it.

Just back from a weekend at Clover Fields trying out my new trailer tent.

On arrival you enter a one way system and have to stop at a gate and alert the owners of your arrival. If you miss this and carry on (as I did) looking for a 'reception' you can end up with nowhere to turn around and having the need to reverse back down the hill. Not a criticism, just a word to the wise.

Faults (A6 traffic noise a bit invasive for a tent but I doubt it would be if you were in a caravan) were exceptionally few and far between at Clover Fields. From the quality of the facilities to the genuine warmth and friendliness of the owners, my stay was excellent.
This is a working farm but a good effort has been made to integrate the farm with the site. Donkeys, ducks, geese and hens are all there to be interacted with and fed. Basic provisions, camping equipment and meats supplied by a local farm shop, are available from the farm house and they will arrange newspaper and milk deliveries. There are very good disabled lavatory and shower facilities. The nearest pub is about 3/4 mile away and Buxton is a 10 minute drive.

We have been coming to this site approx 3/4 times a year for 3 years in all seasons. Everything is A100 and only superlatives can be used to describe the site, the management and the facilities. Read all of the previous reviews which tell the story.

05.12.08 to 08.12.08 very cold and windy outside but the sanitary block was warm, clean and fully operational. During the cold period the water to each placement had been shut off to prevent freezing but fresh water was available at the block. BBQ was not an option at this time! but it was available if required.

We will return again in 2009.

Best site we have ever been on first of all the owners Jan and Steve, Steve works on the farm full-time but still always seems to be doing things to improve the site (not that it needs it). Jan always greets you with a smile and a hug (once she knows you), any way she can help you she will. Toilets are always spotless as are the pitches, laundry and the whole site. You get your own Waste bin and BBQ which were renewed this year. There isn't a park for the kids which I thought would be a problem at first but with all the animals there cows, sheep, pigs, donkeys, hens, lambs and ducks they love it. It can be windy as it's high up but the site and owners make up for that.

WOW what a site! One of the best we ever stayed at. On arrival you talk to Jan at the eletric security gate, and then she meets you at your pitch. You can have milk and papers delivered to your van if required, and we even had a fresh fish man visit during our stay.

The site itself is wonderful very well kept with beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Lots of wildlife plus Jan and Steves own animals. Your made to feel like old friends as soon as you arrive. The pitches are hardstanding but with your own grassed area, there are hedges in between the very large pitches with your own BBQ, water and rubbish bins. There is also recycling areas near the waste water empting area. The facilities are spotless with plenty of hot water in the showers!

We will be returning as soon as we can, we were sad to leave. There is a dog walking area but you can walk round the site too which makes a longer walk for all. Do try the homemade Jam and honey also outstanding like Jans Happy hens eggs, Jan stocks a few items that maybe required during your stay but dont expect to be able to get all your shopping, but the supermarket is ten mins away so no problem. The cost of £14.00 per night is such good value, it does not change anytime of the year and theres no extra charges for awnings or dogs. There is no play area but there is a sand pit on the tent pitches. It never seemed a problem for the familys that were also staying there. As I said before we cant wait to return and will asap.

Stayed here for the weekend at short notice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Went to Castleton on advise from a seasonal vanner and a lovely place to visit-apparently very popular at xmas time. Rural and peaceful but not to far from Buxton etc. Facilites are excellent with the showers being wet rooms, tv reception isnt the best in the world with us being unable to get freeview but thats not a life threatener is it ;0)

We chose Clover Fields based on the reviews on this website and we weren't disappointed. This is a brilliant site, the best we've ever stayed on. The toilets and showers are first class, modern, well laid out and spotlessly clean. There is a good laundry room with everything you need and even books and puzzles to borrow on a rainy day!

Jan and Stephen are very genuine people and made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. Although they must be extremely busy, they always seemed happy to stop and have a chat. There is a shop at the house, which is like a little Aladdin’s cave and will keep you supplied with most things, including free-range eggs.

The animals on the farm all looked happy and healthy and my daughter loved the ram and donkeys.

One of the reasons we picked this site, was their policy on no excessive noise which made it lovely and quiet at night, great for those of us who hate being kept awake until the early hours by inconsiderate fellow campers!

If you turn left at the gates the road takes you to the village, which has a fish and chip shop, general store and a farm shop, but be warned, we visited the farm shop Saturday afternoon only to find out it shuts at one and doesn't open on a Sunday.

Buxton is a lovely town and if you park up at the pavilion gardens you are within easy walking distance of everything. The swimming pool is right next to the car park and there is a nice children’s playground in the pavilion gardens.

If you're looking for a peaceful, friendly site with great facilities, then you wont find better than Cloverfields and although the weather cut short our stay we look forward to going back soon.
