Haven't been here since the new owners took over, so this was going to be a 'test the water since. ' visit.
Disaster struck though even before we arrived there. We set off from home straight after work, but the alternator belts snapped on the car not 8 miles from the site, so we arrived much later on the back of a recovery truck.
I asked to be recovered to the site as I knew I would be able to repair the belts on site, so no need to be taken to a garage possibly ruining a good chunk of our holiday.
On arrival, the wardens said the truck would be too heavy for the sites road. I said no problem, there would be plenty time for me to get off the recovery truck, hitch the van on and tow it onto the pitch before I possibly over heated the car.
It was near enough dark once we got pitched and set up, so just called it a night then.
Next morning, one of the wardens offered to take me into Retford, to a motor factor shop for new belts instead of using public transport. Back to the site, and I had the car fixed within a couple of hours.
In the afternoon, we then had a chance to check out the site, and have a look around.
The new owners have really turned the place around we think, they've put in hard standing gravel pitches in places where you may have pitched on grass, along with more drainage they said, as some places suffered if they had any heavy rain.
It looked like they pruned some of the old apple trees, and trimmed the hedges a bit more so they could make better use of the space they had too.
The toilet and shower block was spotless, they are the push button type, but that doesn't bother us.
They had then (I think) set them cooler than a normal shower, handy really, as it was a scorcher of a weekend so it was nice to have a cooling shower. They still had the piped music (local radio channel) through the block too.
They have a short dog walk along the side of the tent area, but you're safely kept apart by a mesh fence.
The kids play area at the bottom of the site had our two occupied for hours, and now has woodchip around it as the last time we were there, it used to be all grass - another nice touch. The views down there through the trees are spectacular too BTW.
The East Coast Main Line is a few fields away, you'll cross over it if you come to the site from Tuxford, but there's very little noise from it.
There's cost cutter shop in Tuxford for essentials, after that, it's onto Ollerton where you'll find a Tescos (including fuel). Or it's then Retford for town type shopping.
Never ate out, so can't comment about eating out places.
It's a gem of a site, very quiet - even though it was fairly busy when we were there.
We had a great stay there and didn't want to leave, so we hope we will come back sooner rather than later.
The wardens, Richard and Tracy are brilliant, really helpful and we can't praise them enough for what do, and what they did for us!

I am so happy I came across this site on UK Campsite, it was definitely the right decision to stay here for 2 nights, wish we had stayed longer to be honest.
When originally booking the site, I had to make the owners aware that I would be arriving later due to finishing work at 5pm and travelling later on and they were absolutely fine about it. There is a warden on site right next to the barriers which is great (say thank you to him for lending us some oil for our breakfast yesterday, so kind). When we arrived we got a lovely greeting and we were shown to our pitch. It was perfect for what we needed as we had views over the fields and we were right opposite the water tap!
There are lots of things to do locally but unfortunately we didn't get to visit much but Tattershall Castle is a must, that was a nice afternoon out.
The toilet blocks are spotless, I accidentally left my shampoo and conditioner in the shower block and it was left on the window sill so I was able to get it back. Just be warned that when you're showering the lights will go off because they are sensors.
A really friendly site, full of great campers (thanks to those that helped put up our tent - hopefully you'll see this) and it really is in a good location. You need to make sure you fill up with petrol though before hand and we didn't come across any Tescos etc whilst driving around. Signal for your phone is minimal which is fab as you completely switch off from the busy life.
I would happily return here and hopefully get to explore a bit more in and outside of Tuxford. Thank you for the brilliant stay :)

Interesting site that has just been taken over. Owner is very ambitious and I wish him well. Just outside the village of Tuxford. It was very quiet when we were there and the weather wasn't brilliant. Facilities on site were okay and looked after. There are a lot of seasonal caravans on the site. Had some good days out to Lincoln, Chatsworth House, Bakewell and Sherwood Forest. Its not a week long stop site though and whilst we will return, maybe for three days at a time. Easy access from village and roads are good on approach

This was our first time staying at the campsite since new owners took it over. It's is still a very well maintained campsite but they seem to have shoe horned in lots more pitches on both the caravan and camping field. We were in the camping field and the pitches were very small. Thankfully the site wasn't at full capacity because if it was I think we'd have been touching guy ropes!
This is a local get away campsite for us, but I don't think we'll be using it again.

Orchard Park is a nice, quiet site handy for Tuxford, Newark on Trent and the surrounding area. The site is well tended, grass regularly cut and the showers/ toilet block kept immaculately clean. A perfect site for short or long breaks. You will be made very welcome.

This was our third visit and will keep going back as the site is always improving. The hard standing pitches are spacious and well spaced out to give privacy to all campers. The site is beautifully kept, the grass well cut and tidy pathways. The toilet blocks are very clean with good sized showers, plenty of hot water and hair dryer provided free of charge. The site is set in lovely countryside but only minutes from the A1. It is generally very peaceful although there is an occasional train nearby but it is not intrusive. The only thing missing for motor homes is somewhere to empty our waste water tanks as there doesn't appear to be a suitable drain.

Just returned from a few lovely days at orchard park and was very impressed with the changes the new owners have made. Great hardstanding pitches for all caravans. Also the improved play park for the young ones. Our lad is 16 so never came off the wifi £5 for the weekend excellent value. Toilet and shower block allways clean and tidy with plenty of hot water any time of day. Overall very impressed with the new look site and cannot wait to re-visit. Thanks mary from adele roy & kieran
