Orchard Park Caravan site, is not the best of sites, depends what you are after. The pitches are quite small, just enough for your caravan and awning, having to park your car horizontally in front of the caravan.
Commercial vans are allowed on the site, so a lot of space is used up by them, also no rules on ball games etc, so expect the odd dint to your caravan.
The shower and toilet block was never clean when I went, though it was a rainy weekend, but that's no excuse to have dirty sinks, mirrors etc. The shower block needs updating too, very 70's.
The orchard was fun, you could get an apple catcher from reception, which allowed you to get apples higher up, or plums / pears. Not too much to do in the area for kids other than Sundown.
Very poor for £75 for bank holiday weekend, was expecting a really nice site for that money !

We visited Orchard park for the first time, arriving on the Friday evening and leaving Sunday afternoon.
On arrival the owners were very friendly and we were shown to our pitch. The pitch was very spacious and we had chosen the Electric hook up.
The people camping next to us didn't have a long enough lead, but the owners were there in an instant in bringing an extension to them. The play area and wildlife walks were really good but we were the other end of the site so couldn't really let our children go off and play as we couldn't see them.
The toilets and showers were clean, but you needed to be in there early to avoid the queues!
The only downside I can say about this site was the tent field was very open and with the slightest bit of wind the tents got the main impact.
This will not stop us going again but we will be more aware which way we pitch the tent!

Just did an 'overnight' here enroute further down the country. I managed to book at the last minute, and was asked to pay-up (£17 inc leccy) over the phone there and then. This took me by surprise if I'm honest, but id little choice.
The owners were very friendly, showing us to the pitch, and explaining what was where. They'll also prise a refundable fiver from you for a barrier key at this point. The reception/shop had the essentials, plus the the opportunity to order a morning newspaper. A nearby cabin has acres of info on what to see, and where to eat/visit etc.
The site was a tidy set-up of level pitches, with a central loo block - which was clean and up to date. It also had the wireless playing in there - which saves you listening to other 'sounds', which is rare!
Some of the pitch spacings appeared a bit too cosy for my liking, but ours wasn't bad. There was an area reserved for tents at the far end of the site, which also had a play area and mini 'woodland walk'.
I thought it a bit strange to have the tents sited as far away as possible from the facilities though.
We didn't get 'out and about' given the limited stay, so cant comment on this aspect. It was very handy for the stop-off though, being under a mile from the A1.

Just returned from a two night stay at this lovely site. The owners were very friendly and helpful (they even lent us a kettle when we realised we had forgotten ours).
We were in the tent field behind reception - two tents, pitch 1 and 2 - luckily only one tent needed electric hook up (pitch 2) as the electric point was too far away from pitch 1.
Picnic tables are provided for each pitch which we thought was a nice touch.
Only negative - only one toilet/shower block, but site not too busy, so we managed - on a positive note, the showers and hair dryer were free!
Will definitely return! Superb site for a short break!

Have just returned from a week’s camping at this site and I cannot praise it enough. From the moment of booking it was a pleasant experience.
John and his wife were extremely helpful and met all the requirements we had regarding the pitch location. It is a safe a secure site and the camping field was spotless with benches provided.
The shower blocks were immaculate and cleaned at regular intervals. The heating was always on and the radio was a nice touch (especially in the middle of the night)there was always plenty of hot water. Other amenities were also great.
Clean washing up area, veg preparing area, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier. Other long stay caravanners were very friendly and helpful.
There is a little hut next to the reception area that is stacked full of leaflets and info on things to do in the area which was very helpful. Went for a walk in to the orchard and it was beautiful, playground was also nice - but not having children can’t really comment.
Surrounding area is great if you have a car. Nowhere to walk to unfortunately - but local shops and takeaways only a 5 min drive. We found a pub called the Queens Hotel that offered cheap home cooked food which would recommend.
Also the Crown Pub was nice and cosy for a drink as we did not eat here. The mussel and crab restaurant is also a must - however this is not a cheap night out.
Trips into Sherwood, Nottingham, Newark are a must as there are some beautiful things to see and do.
I would definitely go back to this campsite and cannot recommend enough.

We stayed for 2 nights in April having previously stayed a few nights last year!
We went as a party of 4 groups with 4 tents, when I booked I informed the site that none of the other people had ever been camping and 2 of the groups were single mums with there kids, so the owner said we could pitch all of our tents over 3 pitches, so the 2 single mums could split a pitch and the cost between them.
The owners are very friendly and more then willing to help in anyway, he actually lent my friend a small gas bottle with pipe and regulator for free.
The toilet and shower block are always spotlessly clean and warm with music playing, there is a play area with a slide and climbing frame for the kids, there is also an orchard to walk around.
We have stayed in the tent field when we have stayed and the pitches are huge with plenty of space for the kids to play, the site is very friendly and is within 20 mins of clumber park where we love to go bike riding and sherwood forest, also close to sundown adventureland.
We love this site on will continue to visit it whenever we can!

We've just come home from a very positive four night stay on this site.
We found it to be clean and tidy, with extremely helpful and friendly owners and other campers.
Toilets and washing up facilities were always clean although I did have to queue for a shower most mornings as there are only 2 male and 2 female showers, not many when the site is full.
We really appreciated the free freezer for refreezing our ice packs for the cooler, and the tiny shop on site was fine for early morning milk. Tuxford has a good coop for bread etc, the butchers is good too, albeit a bit pricey. There are also numerous take away options.
Play facilities for young children are good. We were on a large pitch near the end of the play trail and entrance to the 'Wild' orchard area. Our 3 boys played all day and made lots of new friends. However the 'no children on the play trail after 9pm' rule was not upheld by all parents making it difficult to get the children to bed before 10pm due to the noise of other children playing. Also, there is no ball game area set aside, a bit of a problem for my football mad 8 year old!
There is lots to do in the area - we did, Clumber park, Sherwood forest and Rufford Abbey Park as well as lots fo time just relaxing on site.
Overall, a lovely little site that we would recommend whole-heartedly and we would definitely return to in the future.

We stayed over the Royal Wedding bank holiday weekend. Fantastic wardens, very friendly, would help to back you into the pitch, happy to lend you anything you may have forgotten - a mallet on our case!
Pitch was good, all grass which we prefer to hard standing but hard standing pitches are available, close to the children's playarea, felt happy to let 4 and 6 year old play with other children.
Toilet block always clean and tidy.
Small shop that sold essentials and sweets/ice creams.
The wardens arranged a lovely afternoon of music on their garden for all of the guests.
Very quiet at night and in the mornings.
Close to Newark and Clumber park whuch are both worth a visit.
The wardens can recommend some local pubs, we visited one about 4 miles away which was great, very good food at fantastic prices and it does have a children's menu.

Just spent 3 nights at this site and all I can say is its amazing. John and Dorothy are a lovely couple that run the site and will do all they can to help you out. There is a barrier to the site, you pay £5 deposit for a key, which is refunded when you leave.
Toilets and Showers are wonderfully cleaned by Jean daily. She cleans these between 10.30 - hrs. And they are closed till she has finished. Washing Up area is clean, you also have a Washing Machine (50p), Tumble Dryer (50p), also a small freezer which is for the use of Ice Packs. You also have sinks so you can prepare vegetables, and a Washing Line area which is undercover.
There is a kiddies play area, as I don't have small children I did not take much notice of this, but it seems to keep the kiddies occupied.
Walking round the orchard is nice, would like to see it when the fruit is ready though.
If you do visit this site then you must also visit the Windmill and pay a visit to the Tea Room the food is all home made. We had a Scone and it was the best Scone I have ever tasted. You can also buy the flour which is from the Mill, so you can spend a fair bit of money, but it is worth it.
John will also deliver you your daily newspaper to your pitch as long as you put your order in the night before, and also a breakfast bap.
Traffic from the A1 did not seem to be a problem.
We will be returning to this site.

Just spent friday to sunday in our caravan me, wife and 8yr old. What a fantastic site. Everything you need. Very well kept, clean and tidy site.
We loved it that much we have booked a week in august. My 8yr old was not seen all weekend making friends and playing in the adventure woodland and park.
The shop was well stocked although there is a local shop 1/2 mile away in tuxford.
The site has very well spaced pitches but not regimented. All with electric hook up. Usual water and waste.
There is an old red telephone box on site which I a nice touch and it works.
There is only 2 showers in the male block but I never queued. Everything you need for a relaxing time away.
We recommend this site for couples or families with children under age of 11yrs.
