First class welcome and customer service. Nothing was too much trouble. Able to arrive from 10. 00am Friday, and stay on Sunday (departure day for us) until 6:00pm; living only an hour's drive away, this gave us much more scope to relax and enjoy the whole weekend.
Site was ideally placed for exploring Lincoln, and poss lots of other places too - a theme park nearby too. Good chippy / Indian in Tuxford. Easy towing and siting but levelling blocks helpful.
Facilities kept clean and tidy, ; includes laundry, drying area, and drying machines, freezer for your ice blocks, wash-up facilities. Wi-fi ok,
Playground really quite different and special - more climbing and a slide, but no swings. A great little trail around it too. We really like this playground, and the whole campsite.
Near enough the A1 for a quiet transit stop driving the length of the country.

Arrived here Saturday 21st July, unfortunately there had been a heavy down pour the night before, on top of weeks worth of wet unsettled weather. We were greeted by very polite owners, that gave precise/accurate information on surrounding attractions and other useful information.
When we were escorted to our pitch, we then realized just how much rain had fallen. The ground was like a huge wet sponge, so with it being a nice day we decided to go in to Newark for the rest of the day to give the ground chance to drain.
On our return, it wasn't much better, the owner on my request, gave me his fork in an attempt to try and lift/drain the grass to make it something like acceptable to pitch my expensive tent. Unfortunately the water wasn't going anywhere in a rush so we all admitted defeat and realized a return home was on the cards. When the owners were approached we have never come across such helpful & understanding people.
They offered to ring other sites for us in the surrounding area, along with a full refund, but then the owner asked if we would like to try their own back garden, which wasn't anything like as wet as the main camping field. This was fantastic and displays the care & concerns of a pleasant stay with the campsite owners.
The site is in an ideal location to explore the beautiful surrounding area & attractions. There is a railway line that is close by, but not enough to cause any problems. Good on site facilities, well maintained & cleaned even when the site was muddy, piping hot free showers as well.
There is a very old orchard after the play area to the rear of the park worth a look at. Tuxford is with in a 10 min walk, it isn't very big but has enough for what you may need, including a good Indian & a Chinese, plus a Fish & Chip shop. We will be definitely returning.

We have been coming to this site for a few years now and it is great. The owners are always helpful and polite letting you know the bad from the good in the way of pitches.
There is plenty to do around the area as long as you are mobile eg. Sherwood forest, ollerton, mansfield etc.
We have never had a bad weekend here (except for the weather) and that is in the laps of the gods. Any one staying here is made to feel part of a family and is most welcome

What a great site, we were shown to our pitch on arrival, very polite wardens. Basic shop on site. A nice orchard, full of wildlife with a good kids park next to it. Toilet block was always clean. If you like it peaceful and relaxed this is the site for you. Only stayed one night so didn't go out to the surrounding area. If you have a dog there is a small dog walk next to the tenting area. This site is well maintained and clean and I will be sure to be staying next year.

We spent five nights at this lovely, quiet campsite. It was a little crowded, but it was the bank holiday weekend, so that is to be expected. Once the weekend had finished and there were fewer campers, it was more pleasant.
However, even when it was at its most crowded this is one of the best sites we have been to. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The shower block and washing area is brick built and cleaned regularly, with no hidden charges for showers like some sites. Hot water is available throughout the day and there's a free hairdryer in the ladies' bathroom. There is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer, for a small fee, and even a covered area with a washing line. In reception one can buy everyday essentials and wifi is available for a nominal fee.
The children's play area is wonderful, beginning with a purpose-built wooden adventure playground, followed by a wildlife-inhabited orchard where our children spent hours building a den with newly-made friends (though some utterly thoughtless person spoiled it by letting their dog poop in the area, despite signs forbidding dogs - but that's not the fault of the campsite).
We had a reasonably sized pitch with hook-up for a very reasonable price despite the bank holiday mark-up.
One thing to mention - if you have a pitch near the children's play area it is a fair walk to the wash block, so if you don't have a camping loo, you may be better off requesting a pitch nearer to the wash block.
Overall, a really lovely site with very helpful and friendly owners. We will definitely visit again if we are in the area.

This is the second time we have visited this site. It is a wonderful location in the middle of nowhere and very quiet. We visited with family, 4 units in total with 3 children. When booking we couldn't get 4 pitches together, but when we arrived we had got two together - a pleasant surprise.
The children loved the play park and we all enjoyed the orchard, especially being able to pick the blackberries.
The facilities are all very clean. Really useful having a covered washing up area.
A good Co-op in the village but you can buy basics from reception and even pre-order papers.
We would definitely visit again.

We only stayed here for one night in our caravan as a stopover on our way up north.
The site was easy to find. On arrival you go to reception and pay a £5 returnable deposit for a barrier key. The owners were very friendly and showed us to our pitch, asked if we needed any assistance and explained where everything was.
The pitches were all level, the side we were on felt a little cosy but fine. The other side of the site was a little more spacious. Their is a central amenities block which is nice and clean and has music playing through speakers which is a nice touch. The showers are free and the water was hot and you had enough space to move and change. Their are only two showers and I did have to queuqe in the morning.
They have a room with washing & drying machines and dishwashing facilities. Also a small outside covered area with cloth lines. Their is also a Toilet disposal area.
Behind reception is a tent field and a small dog walking area. At the other end they have a small park area for children to play.
The site also has a small shop containing pretty much all your basics and a few extras.
The site also has internet access although I wasn't able to pick it up on my dongle.
Cant really say much about the area as only stayed over for one night but overall a nice site and we enjoyed our stay.

We had a lovely three nights here: two adults, two kids, aged 5 and 7. Really helpful campsite owners, Dorothy and John. It was our first time with a new tent and equipment. Wed managed to lose a jubilee clip, forget a spanner and not take the gas regulator for the camping stove: all three of these were provided by John.
Clean free showers, toilets, washing up area. Attractive site with great playground for the kids and a nice, rambling orchard. The shop is handy and so is the free freezer for ice packs.
We camped in the field where we had plenty of room and beautiful sunsets. It was midweek and the kids could play football here, too, as it wasn't fully-booked. If you have younger children who you want to keep an eye on, you might want to book a pitch near the playground.
Its busier around that area but nearer the orchard. Wed taken our folding table and chairs as didn't realise that there were picnic table and chairs for each spacious plot.
We had no electric hook-up and it was £19 / night. If wed managed to get in at the weekend, we could have done a three night stay for £46.
We know the area and were visiting relatives but Id recommend Lincoln for the cathedral and history, Rufford Country Park for walks and outdoor sculpture (and a great play area with sandpit) and Sherwood Pines (another great playground, mountain biking, too).

This site was clean, well based for attractions and had good spacious pitches(despite another camper parking his car on our pitch!)the playground trail was good and so was the orchard with dens to hide in but it could do with a designated ball field.
Not much to do if its wet so take dvds games etc. Can still rain in summer.
Nearby sundownland is fantastic for kids my boys are 9 and 7 and they loved it.
Bonus was the robin hood festival which was on that week at sherwood forest and was the best ever. Both 20 mins from the site.
Would I go again? yes to the area but not sure about the site due to lack of ball field.

Stayed for 3 nights in a large tent with ehu. Me, my husband & 3 children aged 1, 3 & 5. Friendly staff.
Lovely clean warm shower/toilet facilities. Play area which lead through to the orchard which was enclosed so very safe for the little ones.
Small shop in reception. Wi-fi available. Allow bbq's & pets. Kids were never bored & neither were we. Camped with 2 other families who also had children.
Tesco's & Asda are both a 15 min drive away in Ollerton. Close to Sherwood pines which is a good day out for all the family & only money you need is a few quid to park the car, Rufford park is close too.
All in all a nice quiet little place away from the usual sea-side holiday things like arcades which costs lots of money. A nice cheap, relaxing weekend break. Planning on returning in July/August 2012.
