Visited this site with my partner and son age 9. It is an ideal site for children, the extensive play area and surrounding meadow is lovely and safe for the kids to play. The facilities on the site were good and very clean. Good quality toilet block with showers and sinks well lit with piped music. Facilities for pot washing, laundry and to freeze ice packs. The site owner is very helpful, friendly and easy going. Good security barrier system in place. Site is within a few miles from several villages where you can get pub meals, shops, take away food etc. Must say the pub closest to the site was disappointing and wasn't serving food the day we went. We had a lovely meal at the Old Plough at Egmanton (about 7 miles from site)

This is a very nice site. Our pitch was in the little field set aside from the main part of the site and there was lots of space for the children to play. The shower block was clean and we didn't have to wait despite there been just two shower per gender. There's a spin dryer which is free to use and the owners let us borrow a longer extension lead for the hook up FOC The site is well run and cared for by the owners and they were very helpful. Thank you. They offer a long weekend price from Friday morning until Sunday afternoon allowing us time to relax and enjoy before leaving. The play area is excellent with an orchard behind the wooden playing frames. Great for most ages. There's lots to do in the local area. We visited the Robin Hood festive which was on that weekend. This is well worth a visit. The only down side to the site could be the noise from the road and the train track. This is a minor issue which could annoy some people. We only stayed for 2 nights but we will return to this site in the future.

We have just returned from 4 gloriously sunny days camping at Tuxford. The site is small and tidy, with a play area for the children. We nearly cancelled due to all the rain, but decided to chance it and timed it perfect for the sun. The owner John had already given it some thought about the best spot for our tents avoiding the few areas that were still a bit soaked (Please note that within 24hours of sunshine these had cleared up really well). The toilet/shower facililties were excellent (Complete with music!) Laundry room with washers, dryers, and sinks for pots. Plenty of hot water on tap! We visited Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Forest Farm Park, Lincoln Castle, and stopped for coffee at the windmill in Tuxford itself. Definately recommended if you want a small quiet site. I was told I could hear the A1 and the trains - but the A1 was a very distant hum and you only notice the odd train when you weren't busy having fun.

We have just spent a great weekend at this fantastic site the owners are great and our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed the children's play area and the orchard was a firm favourite where they enjoyed playing hide and seek. The toilets are one of the best I have been in although what the showers will be like when it is busy I have yet to find out has we have now booked to go back for another week in August.

We have just spent a lovely easter weekend at orchard park. The owners are very helpful and friendly. The toilet blocks are very clean and they pipe music into them. They stock a small amount of provisions in the reception but there is a small spar in the village. The children enjoyed the play area on site. All in all a nice quiet site for a relaxing break.

We have stayed at this camp site many times in the last 7 or 8 yrs and we still keep finding ourselves going back there again and again. John and Dorothy (the owners) are very pleasant and we are ( and have been for some time) on first name terms. As you enter this site you get a very warm and friendly welcome and you are shown to your pitch every time by John on his bicycle. Once you have set up, had your cuppa, you can have a walk around the site and through the lovely orchard (which the kids love to play hide and seek in) dodge a few wasps that are after the sweet fruits there. And then play games in the separate field provided with the kiddywinks. The toilet/shower block in always kept very clean and the free showers are always nice and warm. I should really say that the site is awful and very dirty and you should stay well clear.just so that there is always a vacancy for US , but I cant , tee hee. Highly recomended.

Another fantastic long weekend with John and Dorothy. We prefer the rally field as there is more space between pitches and room for our grandchildren and friends to play when they have joined us. We must have been here on 7 or 8 occasions and never had a problem that was not sorted out immediately. Electric hook up cable not long enough, John found one. Road and railway can be heard but it has never stopped us having a good nights sleep. The whole site is spotless and well cared for and both John and Dorothy seem to be always thinking of what to do next to improve the sight. Children's adventure play area is very good. You try and get from one end to the other without touching the ground, quite a challenge. Cannot wait to visit again.

A lovely site, nice and level and lots of space between pitches. The owners are very friendly and helpful, they remembered our names each time we popped into the shop even though the site was busy as it was a bank holiday weekend! The toilets were spotlessly clean and the showers never ran out of hot water. This site is ideally placed to visit Lincoln, Nottingham, Sherwood Forest to name but a few, we spent 5 fun packed days but could easily have stayed for more. The children's play area was great and kept our children entertained for hours, there is a separate ball field and an orchard for the children to wander through so all in all a well planned out site with enough to keep all members of the family happy!

My family, 2 adults and 2 under 6 year olds, visited this site in the week before August Bank Holiday 2006.
Located just off A1 and well sign posted. Turning right into the site off a B road is the owner’s house and reception with a lay-by area to pull into. There is an automatic barrier that needs a key to operate; given by the owner for a deposite of £5.00.
This clean site is long and thin, with well-packed pitches running full length down the sides and centre. The toilet facilities are on the left. At the far end are the remains of the orchard with a children’s adventure play ground and meandering paths. Our children loved this area and spent many hours with our children playing among the trees.
Owners very helpful, they walked us to our pitch, and then informed us of the site and local amenities. Additional information to local attractions could be found in useful lit wooden hut just inside the entrance barrier.
The toilet block is very clean and modern, with free hot water thanks to a solar hot water system perched on the block roof. Both sexes had four basins but only two showers. The gents had electric shaver points, two toilet cubicles and 3 urinals. The ladies had four toilet cubicles and a free hair dryer.
On the bank holiday weekend, we had to queue for the showers and toilets. The owners do not enforce a noise curfew, so several evenings were rowdy. The A1 traffic could be heard as a constant rumble as could the East Coast main line that runs near-by, all noticeable in a tent
The shops in Tuxford are basic, with the CO-OP being the best of the bunch. A 24-hour TESCO is 7 miles away in New Ollerton.
On the outskirts of Tuxford, is a working windmill, which is well worth a visit. Sherwood Forrest is near to and worth looking at. Lincoln in the opposite direction is highly recommended, but keep 25 pence handy for the toll bridge. Sundown Adventure Land is also near, but my three-year-old liked and my five-year-old hated! Personally, I would recommend Rand Farm Park, past Lincoln on the A158 on the way to Skegness.

This campsite as a gem - really well spaced out private pitches. The owners put us at the end of the site near to the children's play area, which was safe and of good quality - our children loved it. Facilities were clean. General ambiance of the site was friendly and good natured - as were the owners. Recommend this pleasant site
