This site is so lovely and James and Claire are so adorable that we thought we would come back once a year but it turns out we like it so much we come back twice a year now.
At Easter time, we stay in the bell tent and in summer we bring our own tent.
The peace and quiet, the closeness to the animals and the fruit picking are all just fantastic change of pace activities.

James (the proprietor) was very welcoming and for each visitor verbally gave them all the information for the site on arrival which is a lovely personal touch but after you have driven for a few hours and you just want to put your tent up you end up forgetting 70% of what he's said. A sheet with all the information (& local info) and a sitemap pinned on a notice board would be better if he didn't want to waste money and paper printing the info out.
The site is quiet, well laid out, clean and well maintained. James feeds the animals at 6 pm every day and the families love this touch, chickens are free range and are apt to lay an egg in your tent sometimes. (If you're lucky).
This is not a site for adult only groups who want to party with loud music. Its lights out at 11 pm and listening to the owls.
Lots of local walks straight from the campsite, Sutton Hoo, Bawdsey Quay, and the Suffolk Coast Path, perfect for walkers, writers and the quieter sort.
Very reasonable tariff and good value for money, it's a little gem.

This is a fantastic campsite and we can't wait to visit again! The Toilets/showers are modern and kept very clean, as is the washing up area. The invitation to join in feeding the animals was a great experience and so much fun for our toddler. There is a huge play park and lots of space to roam around. The free range chickens are very friendly! This site has a wonderful relaxed feel and we were made to feel very welcome indeed.

What a find. The couple who run the site are so enthusiastic about what they do. There were only a couple of other tents when I arrived and the site has a plenty of space to chose from. There are trees which separate different areas of the site and are full of wildlife. Sat having breakfast in the morning listening to so many bird species singing away I was joined by the friendly chickens (who will share your food if your not careful). They have a fridge with there own sausages, bacon, eggs etc. There is a newly built very clean and spacious shower/toilet block with two showers.
They have a small farm on site with sheep/alpacas/goats/pigs etc. To wander around is so relaxing and you just forget the fast pace of modern life. There are trails from the site for walking and the Sorrell horse, the local pub, small but friendly is only a few minutes walk. The owners are very friendly and always said hello and chatted when around the site.
Well placed for the coast, Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge and the Suffolk Punch horse trust (worth a visit). Highly recommended.

We've been coming back to this site now for several years. It's perfect. Claire and James are wonderful and very friendly and open hosts. They run the site in conjunction with their small holding, and it has been fascinating watching both the site and their small holding develop over the years.
It's a laid back relaxed place - and seems to attract campers who are much the same, and considerate towards others.
Our four year old loves it! Campers are welcome to wander around to see the animals, and to take part in egg collecting each evening if they want to. And there's an easter egg hunt each easter Sunday - which is a big hit with the kids!
The facilities are excellent and always clean, and there seems to have been some major improvement each year we've been back, with another new toilet block appearing when we arrived this Easter.
There's a fantastic pub five minutes walk away that does great food. There's a small kids playground right next to the site. Miles of foot paths for lovely country walks, and the coast is very close by. It's just perfect for a family holiday.
It's great to be able to have a campfire - we bring our own firewood and firepit.
This is a quiet place - so if you want rowdy late night partying - then it's probably not for you. If you want a chilled and relaxed break in a quiet rural kid friendly environment, then this is the site for you - not that I think they need an endorsement, as you'll not get a weekend booking in the summer unless you book way in advance!

Thank you to Claire and James for another fantastic stay at St Margarets. It really is a little piece of magic you have and such a wonderful detox from the crazy busy lives we all lead. A great way to start the school holidays and the Bell tent was wonderful with everything we needed.

Another fantastic stay with James and Claire. Such a restful and relaxing site, and yet they both clearly work really hard to keep it all running smoothly. A perfect site if you want a laid back stay with a lovely, leisurely stroll to a great pub.

Had a great couple of days. Lovely owners and great campsite. Can't fault it. It was really nice to see the owners giving the children (and adults) a tour of the animal section. Showers and other facilities were very acceptable.

Great pub in walking distance, peaceful site, toilet block ok. But the best bit (if you love animals) is feeding them, and having chickens walking in and out the awning. Fresh produce to buy, Woodbridge is a lovely town, and fantastic dog walks from the site. And run by an amazing, lovely couple! This site comes highly recommended. We would return most definitely.

This site has made me fall in love with camping.
The new facilities are awesome. We were a couple with a 4 year old. Our little one always found friends to play with, giving us a bit of respite. Egg collecting and taking care of the animals gives the kids so much confidence.
We'll definitely be going back. Possibly every year.
