We stayed at this campsite from a Friday evening through to Sunday with our children, 6 and 9 so that we could attend the Lowestoft Airshow and because it was close to family.
It is a lovely campsite. We were greeted by Claire who offered to let the children collect eggs from the free-range hends the next morning. We were relieved that there wasn't a cockeral to wake us at dawn. There are four camping areas in total. We stayed in the 'tent field' which is a small area. It was us and one other. We pitched next to the chicken enclosure and vegetable patch. It was a fantastically quiet area, close to the toilet block and we ate breakfast with the chickens roaming around our feet!
The pitches are very large, flat and drained well. We had plenty of room for our tent sideways on with a canopy next to it. There is no road noise at all. As we went in term time, the site was mainly families with young children so everyone went to bed fairly early so it was nice and quiet.
There is a gateway that goes directly from a copse to the village play ground and a large field which dogs would love to have a good run in. The play equipment was traditional style wooden apparatus including a wooden fort on a mound with a slide and a lovely wooden playhouse.
The toilet block was basic, fine for two nights and very clean. We didn't use the showers but plenty did so they must have been fine. The block was quiet as half the pitches had caravans on so maybe in peak periods they would get busy.
The local pub can be accessed directly from the campsite through thepub garden and we enjoyed a cooked breakfast there on Sunday morning.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay and we are returning in August.

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay in Millie the caravan.
Despite being half term week, the site was very peaceful and it is in a beautiful location.
The toilet/shower facilities are kept very clean, though only having one shower for each sex, meant that my wife had to queue a couple of times (the mens didn't seem so busy!)
Millie was also spotlessly clean and the owners included a few nice touches, like providing free range eggs, home made jam, wind breaks and chairs in place for when we arrived etc.
Our two young children thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in the 'bunks' though the double bed is rather small for two large adults (I'm 6'4').
There were a few heavy showers during our stay and luckily we took a gazebo to erect in front of Millie. This was a 'God-send' as we were still able to sit outside and keep things dry.
From the site there are some lovely walks and the food and beer in the Sorrel Horse are excellent. The Ramsolt Arms is worth a visit for its river views, as is the boat trip from Orford. The Kings Head in the market square in Woodbridge was also very cosy and friendly (good dog friendly pub too - it even had a dog's menu!)
We'll be back!

We visited 22nd June to 24th June 2012, (2 adults) we have been here before with our trailer tent and this time just with a tent as we only wanted a couple of days peace and quiet, although that’s not what we got, as per usual these days sadly there are some parents that are happy to let their children run around unsupervised and seem to have some bizarre idea that everyone will be happy to have their peace and space invaded by their kids! So more than once we had to ask children to stop running around our tent, tripping over our guy ropes, etc. There doesn’t seem to be any rules, I couldn’t find any on the website nor where we given any, top tip if you don’t want to experience too much of the aforementioned then camp on the top field, well away from the toilet block and the chickens as the chickens and peacock naturally attract children and if you are near them then that’s what you will get, we certainly don’t blame the children but the selfish parents.
The toilet block is adequate one shower and two toilets and two sinks in the gents. The area around and about has plenty of tracks to walk along or cycle, there is also a meadow with swings etc for children to play. I know the area well being local and if you’re up to it a good cycle ride to the Ramsholt arms by the river is worth the visit if the weather is good, food at the pub is reasonable, word of warning though if you go on a weekend and the sun is shining (lol) then it will be very busy, the ride back up the hill will also burn some of those calories after lunch.
A further cycle ride can be taken to Bawdsey where radar began, where you can also catch the foot ferry from there to Felixstowe, you can take your bike as well but make sure you check times etc
If you’re not familiar with the area then Woodbridge is worth a visit, with some nice walks around the harbour and enough shops to wander around, and a good variety of places to eat and drink, I recommend the Anchor or the cherry tree.
Anyway we have now finally learnt that from now on it’s going to be Adult only sites for us from now on so we can just chill.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at this site.
The owners were so friendly and accommodating.
It was a lovely quiet site with free range chickens roaming around.
Facilities were basic, but water was piping hot, clean and tidy.
Lovely walks for our puppy and places to visit.
Lovely pub, dog friendly, and meal was very nice and not too far away to return to the site, very convenient.
Freezer facilities for free and also fridge use.
We will be returning.

We rented Millie, one of the tiny caravans available to rent at this site.
We were there on the first May bank holiday. It was extremely cold and wet.
The site is very tranquil. There is woodland and grassy fields around. The site seems well draining - it had been incredibly wet in the lead up to our visit and the site was still reasonably dry and not a mud bath. There were hens roaming around.
The playground is set away from the site so I was not bothered by it - it is ideal for 4 to 12 yrs. There is nothing else at the site but the kids were very happy.
The facilities were quite basic. There was only 2 loos and one shower in the ladies and there was usually a small queue. There was hot water and plenty of loo paper. The washing up sinks (x 2) were clean. You can also hire tables and fire pits. The site provided eggs and jam (and tea and coffee in Millie) - we needed a bit of milk but they did not have this.
There were three fields - lots of tents and some touring caravans which seem to be there on a semi permanent basis. It was full when we were there but it was still fairly quiet.
Millie the caravan was incredibly cold. The weather did not help but there is no heating and it smelt badly of damp (as did the bedding provided). On the positive side, everything is provided so you really do just need to take food and clothes. There is no heating inside.
We were two young kids (2 and 5) and two adults. Millie was too small for us. The single bench bed was ok but the top bunk is a bit like a hammock and my 5 yr old (who is very thin) was almost too wide for it. I'd suggest that Millie is for 2 people max (and I think on reflection she was quite expensive to hire).
The pub in the village seems vibrant and there was plenty to do in the surrounding area. I think it would be a nice place to have a tent or take your own van.
The weather did affect our experience so I have tried to be objective in my review.

We have just come back from a very enjoyable weekend here. It was our first trip here, but definitely won't be our last.
The site is in a beautiful area of the country with Sutton Hoo (National Trust Anglo Saxon burial site) & Rendlesham Forest (Forestry Commission location with walking & off road cycle tracks) amongst others.
The owners are very friendly & helpful & the facilities were always spotlessly clean.
The ground drains well so there were no soggy patches in the awning even after very heavy rain on Saturday night.
There is no playground on site, but there is access through a small field to the village's adventure playground with enough things there to keep our 9 year old occupied.
The site is very dog friendly, but dogs have to be kept on leads at all times as there are very free range chickens. The field next to the playground is enclosed so we were able to let our puppy run a bit there.
All in all a fantastic weekend. Perfect for a relaxing break.

This is a lovely little campsite. It is situated behind the old schoolhouse in 2 main fields surrounded by plenty of trees and hedges.
The owners are very friendly and helpful - a request to hire or borrow 2 EHU extension leads was no problem at all and provided free of charge.
It is possible to hire firepits and buy firewood which added to the lovely atmosphere; some of the trees and shrubs were adorned with fairy lights which our kids found quite magical.
The Sorrel Horse pub is a 2 minute walk away and has recently become community owned and run. It is a very picturesque old pub serving good ale but sadly only average food.
The toilet and shower facilities were small but perfectly clean and adequate - I didn't see any queues despite the site being full. My only suggestion for improvement would be to provide a means of drying your hands after washing them.
The site is within easy reach of many East Suffolk attractions such as Woodbridge, Orford and Aldeburgh. We caught the foot ferry across the river Deben from Bawdsey to Felixstowe Ferry which is a pleasant (and inexpensive)trip.
We will definitely return next year.

Spent one night here after reading past reviews on this site. Owner was very helpful when booking and on arrival offered us a choice of pitches and to said pay when we had decided where we'd like to camp.
The site is beautifully secluded and has several different camping areas to choose from.
There is a great kids playground at the bottom of a field accessed through a small wooded area and this gets plenty use as the campers seem primarily those with young children.
The toilet & shower facilities, although small, (two toilets & 1 shower per sex), are kept clean and there's plenty hot water. Likewise, the two outdoor dish washing areas are clean and functional.
The site seems to attract the 'nice' camper as all fellow guests were pleasant and considerate in their use of the facilities and the general on site atmosphere was great.
A super time was had and pretty good value at £18 / night for a family of 4.

Claire and James are lovely helpful people, the campsite is very quiet after 9. 00 o'clock it does have chickens clucking early doors
We had a fire pit which was lovely and the eggs were fab!
You do have to travel for any action but my husband and son went into Ipswich for a footie match and I explored Woodbridge and discoverved a lovely town the museum is well worth a visit for its info alone.
Southfold is well worth a visit as a lovely old fashioned town with a lovely pier
The site only has 1 shower for ladies and 2 sinks for washing, but I only had to wait once to use the shower. 2 wash sinks for pot washing but it has no facilities for clothes washing, the clothes washing
Was an issue due to our lack of extra clothes so maybe that is something to think about. Apart from that it is definitely a fab place to stay

Have just returned from a great weekend at this site. The owners were so friendly and relaxed we did not want to leave. Children can help feed the chickens and collect eggs. The playground for the children is fantastic with a little fort and slide. Toilets and shower kept clean and no extra charge for the shower as with some camp sites. Fire pits available to hire so great for long evening get togethers if there is a few of you going together. Located close to Rendlesham forest, Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge and the coast it's peaceful with no traffic noise, plenty of wildlife and there is plenty to do even for those of us who have not actually travelled very far to get there. Will definitely be returning. Highly recommend.
