Just returned from St Margaret's. What a lovely place. Lots of space for each pitch. Free range chickens wandering the site. They also have Indian runner ducks which you can buy their eggs as well as the hens eggs. Fridge and freezer available in reception to store your food. Toilet block clean and basic only 1 shower and 2 toilets each. Children's playground near the church. Lots of walks nearby. Enjoyed watching the pigs and sheep on the site as well. The pub is only 2 minute walk via the path from the campsite, excellent food and service at the sorrel horse. Lovely beer served straight from the barrel. Sutton Hoo national trust is only 3 miles away, good day out. Woodbridge is the nearest town about 7 miles away. Ipswich about 15 miles away. Best to use the park and ride service from martlesham. Lovely site will go back as it was so relaxing.

Stayed at this site last year with a group of friends, so decided to do the same this year only the group is swelling! Without doubt the best campsite I have ever stayed at. If you have kids they will love it, a great play area near by and the middle of the pitch is left open, so you can group around a fire pit in the evening. The Sorrell Horse near by has a great range of ales, all laid down and great food, even breakfast in the morning if you wish. Spotless shower and toilets, could possibly do with another shower but hayho, when do you get it all. Lovely friendly owner`s who you hardly see. Going again later in the year with an even larger group. Beautiful Suffolk coastal villages just a short drive and outstanding walks from the site, what more could you ask for. If this place had a tabloid revue the secret would be out!

We stayed for 3 nights in June when the weather was scorching.
The staff were the most welcoming and friendly we have ever met at a campsite and we loved the relaxed atmosphere. The pitches were a good size and nice and flat. Good dog walking area.
The camp fires hired out by the campsite were very popular and a nice touch.
The toilet/showers were basic but adequate.
The local pub the sorrel horse was a picture postcard pub with good ale and food at good prices.
The only negative for me. Please please number the pitches, we spent ages on arrival trying to figure out where we were meant to be!
We will be returning it is the most relaxing and friendly camp site yet!

Stayed at St Margaret's Saturday night at short notice. Owners couldn't have been more accommodating. We arrived mid morning, and although the site was busy were shown a number of pitches to choose from. The site is fairly basic with only 1 shower and 2 toilets for men and the same for women. That saying we never had to queue. The best thing about the site is that the use of fire pits is actively encouraged (why we stayed here), with good quality seasoned wood which can bought on site.
Local pub just down the road which looked busy but we didn't get to try. Nice large pitches on level ground although watch out for rabbit holes!
Would stay here again.

We have just spent a fine weekend camping at St Margarets Camp Site. We have not been camping long, but have found some sites full of rules and regulations. But this site is run by a very friendly and relaxed couple. We have no children, just our two dogs, but found the children on the site had so much land and woodland to play in, we never really heard them. There are free range hens wandering around the site, so we kept our two jack Russell's on long leads at all times.
The toilet block is very clean but old. We would like to have seen more showers, although we never had to queue for the toilets. The tent pitches have loads of space, they do not pack them in. The owner said we could stay as long as we wanted on our departure day as they had no one to take our space. We purchased great free range duck and chicken eggs from the owners cottage.
There are great walks from the camp site and just a couple of miles away, beach and woodland walks.
We are going back in a couple of weeks.

This was our last camping trip of the year and yet again we returned to Claire and James at St. Margarets.
I camped through my childhood and can pitch a tent anywhere but it took three years to convince my wife to try it. In August 2011 we got to St. Margarets and within half an hour she was hooked and we have been back 6 time since.
Adorable place and people, never crowded even when full, my son Matthew adores both the owners and would gladly move in with them, great wood, great playground, great pub 5 minutes away and has always had great campers around us.
Don't go if you want to be really wild and boogie all night. Not the place.
If you want to chill. Do not wate your time looking anywhere else

Stayed at this site with several groups of friends, all of us with a couple of kids.
There is a play area about one hundred yards from the site which is superb.
The toilet and shower block was spotless but they could have done with a couple more showers.
Great pitches with loads of space and well tended grassy areas and loads of space for the kids to play.
Also there is a superb pub just 100yds from the site with great real ales, the Sorrell Horse. You can get a carry out and even food to take back to your tent.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend this site, very close to the Suffolk coast and some great walks.

A fantastic, quiet park with very friendly owners. We were a party of 2 Adults, 3 young teen boys and a boxer puppy. The local park is less than 100 metres from the site which entertained the boys. There are many scenic walks in the immediate vicinity, which kept puppy entertained.
The local forest (Rendlesham) was ideal for the dog, and the boys loved discovering the wildlife. Franlingham Castle is a short drive away and gave us a day out for less than £20, and allowed dogs to enter too which was a nice surprise. There are several dog friendly beaches within a short driving distance, many of these are shingle, however venturing further north these do turn more sandy.
The locally owned pub is very friendly with good food at good prices with access to the campsite from the beer garden made it easy to return on many a night. There are very free range chickens which are very inquisitive, often visiting the tent during breakfast time. Free range eggs are available from the owners and they also produce their own conserves. I highly recommend the rhubarb and ginger jam.
Throughout our stay we were all made to feel extremely welcome and received a lot of good advice from the owners for places to take our dog and all the local walks available. The facilities are clean, if limited.
The toilet block contains 1 shower and 2 cubicles in each men's and ladies sides. Even though it was busy during the time we stayed, we rarely needed to queue, we avoided the traditionally busy times for showers and bathed in the afternoons rather than mornings. Picnic tables and fire pits are available to hire for a reasonable charge.
We will definitely be returning to this site.

We thought this was a fantastic site. Quiet. The people were friendly. The owners were available when needed, but never intrusive. Pitches were a good size. Safe enough for the kids to explore and run around. The owner rounded up any interested children at egg collection time - really nice activity for kids to be involved in. The pub was as close to on site as it can be (a very short walk past the chickens and down the hill!) for good food and takeaway beers - perfect for drinking round the firepit.
The down sides were that there were only 2 toilets per sex and only one shower. Knowing this, we took showers in the afternoon/evening rather than morning and never had to queue. There was always hot water when we used the facilities. On larger campsites, I have enjoyed having camping supplies and milk/bread for sale which was missing here but then we had a much calmer & quieter atmosphere for the fact that St Margarets was so small. One small niggle was that in pricing, the owners charge per person and charged us for 2 adults and 2 kids, which was a bit galling as the baby was only 6 months.
However any negatives were far outweighed by the lovely feel of this site. I would happily re-visit.

Just spend 4 lovely day here at the lovely site of St Margerets. Facilities nice and clean and adequate. Showers clean and hot throughout the day. Owners helpful and discreet. Felixstowe has a lovely beach and great shopping facilities. The site also offers fire pits that are a must at any time of year. The local pub offers deal throughout the week and is friendly and welcoming. Would recommend the site to new and old campers :)
