My husband and I had a weekend away, without the children, and Lime Tree Park was the perfect camp site for us; we left determined that we would return, both as a couple but also with our 3 children as we feel it would be perfect campsite for us as a family as well.
The welcome on arrival was excellent and the staff were knowledgeable about the local area. The campsite had a number of offers with some of the local pubs within Buxton which we took advantage of to have a nice meal out.
Toilet blocks were clean and easy to use although as is often the case with camping timing your trip to the shower does help.
The pitches were numerous; well kept and the arrangement of the campsite meant that the noise levels were very good also and the ambiance was peaceful.
We enjoyed a trip to the Monsal Trail and biked the length of it to Bakewell; but being in Buxton you are not far from many of the attractions that Derbyshire has to offer.
A gem we are glad we found.

Really close to Buxton town centre, and a country park (Grin Low), though not a 10 minute walk from camp as we were told. More like 30 - 40 minutes. Also at the country park site is a Go Ape, which they don't mention on the website, and an underground cavern, with 45min tours. Pooles Cavern is well worth a visit, its not dark and narrow so don't be scared! The campsite itself is very well kept, clean loos/showers though not thoroughly modern, they are ok. Free wifi room by reception, with tv and pool table. Small park for the kids too. Only be aware that the field for camping is rather sloped and its hard to find any level ground. There were one or two areas but they get taken up quick. You will need wheel chocks really I would say. Overall a good site, and very child friendly.

We have just returned from a camping trip to Lime Tree Park. We have 3 small children, and we camped with friends who have 2 small children.
We were very impressed with the site. On arrival we were given a very detailed explanation of the area and of the camp, including a map and discount vouchers for many pubs.
We used a tent with out hook up and we were lucky enough to be near the children's play are and toilet/shower block. All 5 children had a fabulous time on the playground and also in the top field where balls are allowed.
The camp itself is picturesque and has a strict no noise after 10pm policy which is great with children as they don't keep getting disturbed late at night. The shower block was one of the best we have been to, plenty of toilets and showers, we never had to queue.
The area around the camp is also lovely, there is lots to see and do. We even went to see a circus. There is plenty of lovely pubs in the area and with the discount vouchers from the park, they make for a reasonable family meal.
We will definitely return here in future.

Just stayed for 3 nights at Lime Tree Holiday Park. We went on a last minute trip and couldn't get into many other campsites in the region, but Lime Tree were very happy to accommodate us.
We had an electric hook up in the top field, over looking the via duct. There is a big farm next door with lots of animals and a farm shop (which was closed when I walked up there).
The staff are really lovely, explaining in detail whats in the area and giving you discount vouchers for local pubs etc.
We were right by the shower block, which was lovely and clean with lovely hot water and a free hair dryer. There is music played into the shower blocks too, which was a nice touch.
The hot water had run out in the shower block and pot washing area by about 10am, so get your shower early! The water was hot again by the evening.
There is a small playground, but that is located in the non electric tent field on the other side of the campsite, so if you have small children like us, they can't walk to the play area on their own (you have to walk past the site entrance with a busy main road to get there).
The site is very quiet, strictly no noise after 10pm.
The only thing that spoilt our stay was comments from caravan owners about where our children were playing, 'I hope you are not playing around my caravan' and 'you shouldn't be playing near the shower block'.
I would definitely return if the kids weren't with us, but think if you have young kids, a more family friendly site would suit you better, where the kids can run around and be kids, without the worry of upsetting other people.

We chose this site for our first ever camping trip! It's location and children's facilities being the two main reasons. We were really impressed! The staff are all so friendly and helpful and the site itself is lovely. It is positioned perfectly within easy reach of buxton centre but still maintains a feeling of seclusion and rural charm. The main reason I have never camped before is the toilet situation! I hate creepy crawlies and whenever I have been in campsite facilities they are all full cobwebs. These toilets however were immaculate, not a cobweb in site! I would highly recommend this site, so much so we have booked to go again for longer at the end of the month.

We have just returned from an excellent 4 night stay at Lime Tree Park on the outskirts of Buxton. We felt good about this site from the moment we received a very friendly greeting from a member of staff at the reception office who quickly filled us in on all details regarding the site plus where to eat, where to visit and where we could benefit from discounts that have been negotiated by the campsite with local businesses for their guests. The staff member even took time to talk us through how to get into Buxton itself which is about a 20-25 minute walk by road or 15 minutes using a local footpath over fields opposite the site. If preferred you can also benefit from the great rates negotiated with a local taxi firm who only charge £3.80 into or back from anywhere in Buxton town
On arrival we were impressed with just how well maintained this site is. The grass areas are clearly very well looked after and regularly cut. The main reception area also houses a small shop stocking a good variety of items which additionally offers a refreezing service for your freezer blocks (they will lend you their own blocks until yours have refreezed - perfect for campers)There is also a small games room which has free WiFi available for those who need their e-mail fix. The shower/toilet blocks are very clean and an abundance of hot water. To the rear of the main shower block there is a washing up area with 2 sinks, bowls and drainers which we found to be nice and clean for the period we were staying. There is a small play area for children with swings, a slide, see-saw and a climbing frame. Of particular note it is nice to be greeted with a friendly and well meant 'Good morning' by all of the staff members we saw whilst staying
Local eateries that we used which we would recommend are The Church Inn at Chelmorton (car or taxi needed to get there but worth the journey)The Cheshire Cheese Inn and The Lone Star Grill in Buxton itself
There is a wealth of attractions in the area and the ones we particularly enjoyed were Chatsworth House (buy an explorer day ticket and get there early as you will need a full day to do everything) Pooles Cavern in Buxton and The Chestnut Centre in Chapel en le Frith
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lime Tree and will definitely be returning and will also recommend it to our friends

We stayed at this camp site for five nights in early July. On the whole the camp site was very good with reasonable facilities. However, we were lucky to have a pitch in the top field with a great view. I should imagine that being in the lower field would be very different. The pitch itself was not very level so you need to manoeuvre around a bit to get the motorhome level(ish). We walked into Buxton once (and back again) and it took exactly 30 mins each way.
The people at the site were pleasant but not over helpful (e. G. No info on where to fill and empty the water). As others have said at £28/night it is quite expensive.

Just returned from a 3 day stay at this superb site. The facilities are clean and even as the site was close to capacity coped very well with lashings of hot water. The staff are second to none and are very helpful and you are escorted to your pitch and fully informed of all the facilities. The location is ideal for walking into Buxton or visiting many of the peak district attractions. We even witnessed the arrival of a new born calf in the adjoining field. We cannot wait to make a return visit

Very nice quiet site, excellent facilities, well drained pitches (the rain was terrible when we pitched up), and some well received 'special offers' for local eating establishments when we arrived :)
The staff are super friendly and VERY helpful, and the ablution blocks are spotlessly clean and tidy with PLENTY of free hot water :)
Would I go again?? YES!

Very much a 'game of two halves', or more accurately two levels. The site seems to be primarily for seasonal or permanent visitors. There were few people around during our stay of 3 nights but most of the upper pitches were occupied. Tourers were put on one of the few pitches at 'street' level, next to a lane which is used as a rat-run at all hours - although it's supposedly a 30 mph road we believe 50-80 mph was more usual, with the accompanying noise and wind-buffeting from boy racers and white-van-men racing by. It is for this reason that we downgrade our Location rating, otherwise the site is very convenient for touring the area.
Longer-term and seasonal pitches were up a steep hill, where all the washrooms etc were located. Tourers therefore had to climb the hill for washing, showers, the loos, etc. The dog-walking area, on the other hand, is down at the lower level. For this reason alone the Facilities rating is lower than it would have been.
The prices in the on-site shop were beyond belief.
On the positive side, all the facilities were kept very clean and tidy and staff were friendly. Walks from the site were also good, provided they didn't involve the road outside the site.
The hill up to the upper level is very steep and can be really slippery. One caravan owner needed the site's tractor to get his caravan up the hill as his car's wheels just spun.
