Stayed at Lime Tree Park last Sunday for one night. Two of my friends, who had never camped before, joined me. I chose Lime Tree due to the good reviews, particularly of toilet and shower facilities, as my friends are 'clean freaks'! I like the way the site is set out with tent pitches at different levels. We found a level pitch pretty easily. The thing I most liked about the site was the proximity to Buxton. It took us approx 25 minutes leisurely walk. We went out for the evening and got a taxi back for £4 as it was raining.

We arrived on site at about 5pm on Friday evening and the staff were very nice and helpful. However we were disappointed because the flat pitches on the terraces were absolutely packed. There was only one space left for our 6 man tent which was on the top field. This field has a wicked slope. We spent the entire weekend getting used to the slope and working out ways to prop up one end of the camping stove and table. We slid down the bed all night which wasn't much fun. This is a pretty site in a very good location for getting around the peaks. The showers and toilets were excellent. There are only two sinks for washing up dishes which meant queues. Would visit again if we could guarantee a flat pitch with space of more than five feet between tents. Some people have commented on noise of planes, but although we certainly heard aircraft it wasn't a problem.

Great site, was a little bit worried about some of the noise concerns expressed in other reviews, but we didn't find it a problem. Managed to pitch our tent on one of the terraced areas as opposed to the main field. These areas a flatter than the field and we were lucky as we got a good spot. The staff were very helpful, the showers were always spotlessly clean with plenty of hot water. The only down side I could find was there were only three showers and a queue started to form very quickly. It's only 20 minutes walk into Buxton via the road less if you use the footpath over the fields opposite the entrance to the site. The Morrisons nearby is a brilliant plus. All in all, an excellent site which we will definitely be visiting again.

We stayed at Lime Tree Park on the Easter Bank holiday weekend which was cold and wet. The main camp site was full so we ended up on the overfull site. It was quiet as we were out of the way. As it had been raining the field was boggy, there was little hardcore to drive the cars around the field to the tents, the cars were sliding over the field and it could have been dangerous, on the Sunday night I left my car at the bottom of the overflow field as I didn't want to risk driving over the mud. Apart from that the site itself was clean the toliets and showers were some of the best I have seen. Our main reason for the visit was to cycle on the Tissington cycle path, the start of which was about 15 minutes from the campsite. This is an old dissused railway which is ideal for cycling and walking as it is flat and keeps you off the roads.

We visited Lime Tree Park in July 06, we stayed on the touring field for caravans and tents with electric hook up. The site was very clean and quiet, the showers and toilets were well looked after and always had hot water. The noise people have mentioned was minimal, and the planes that were coming in to land were going to Manchester so they aren't exactly low! There is a slope on this part of the site which some people may not like to sleep on but we found it ok. Overall I found the site to be excellent.

We had such a lovely visit to Lime Tree Park. We arrived on a friday evening. First impressions of the site were good. Shown to our pitch by helpful friendly staff and pitched on a serviced pitch. The field was really well planned with lots of space. It had a railway track on one side with a lovely viaduct and was elevated from the road and campsite reception area. We were given a code to use to get into the shower/toilet blocks in our field which were fantastic. They were sparkling clean no matter what time of day you went with piping hot water. We saw them being checked at 11pm at night. The showers had an extra dry area to keep your clothes dry with lots of hanging space. There were also sink/mirror cubicles. The door access at first seemed a pain, but was actually such a good idea as all children had to be accompanied by an adult too which I think probably helped with the general condition of the toilets (speaking as a mother of a boy who has yet to perfect his aim!). The toilets had fresh flowers. Outside the wash/toilet block there were 2 washing up sinks.and my only complaint there was that the water was so hot that you had to put a cloth over the tap in order to keep it pressed in otherwise it would burn your hands. I think more sinks would have been good, although saying that, I never had to wait but others did. Campsite was lovely and quiet on the first night by 11 pm and we were whispering by 10pm in fear of being the noisy ones! (but i'd much rather have it that way) On the second night , there was work on the railway track which was a bit noisy but I still slept! The play area was near reception. It was pretty good.kids seemed happy anyway. I took a look at the non serviced tent field while i was there and to be honest it looked a little packed so can only recommend the other field.
Plenty to do in Buxton. We walked in to the centre although it was much further than we realised and slow-going with the little ones. It was carnival weekend so every busy, but lots to see and do. The Pavillion Gardens are lovely. I will be definitely be visiting this site again!

AMAZING SITE! We found ourselves suddenly needing a site to stay overnight to deal with family business and Lime Tree very kindly agreed to fit us in although they said that they were fully booked. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful. You can pitch your tent where you want, either on the terraces or the open field. Plenty of choice for whatever you prefer - sheltered, open, quiet corner, under trees. There's also some picnic benches scattered around the pitches. The tent field is up a steep drive (keeps you very fit!)and feels quite separate from the main campsite so it's nice and peaceful and misses most of the comings and goings. But the worst of the slope can be avoided by the steps straight from the toilet block up to the children's playground. Lime Tree doesn't have a LOT of facilities but certainly makes up for it on QUALITY. It's very clean and tidy and well presented. The toilet block looked and smelt clean. Even after the morning rush it didn't look that worse for wear, nor flooded. There's three showers in the ladies (one of which is a fair sized room ideal if you've got small children) and four in the gents (again, another good-sized one). All with plenty of hooks for all your stuff! There's plenty of hot water, no timers and REAL showers - all FREE! The shop is well stocked although naturally a little pricey, and plenty of tourist information and maps on offer. At the end of Duke's Drive there's a Morrison's and in town a Waitrose (Somerfield on the map!) as well as one or two other smaller supermarkets. Buxton is well worth visiting - huge range of international cuisine, opera, history and more! - all within easy distance of the campsite. And the Peak District is well worth visiting for the glorious countryside. At £13 pn we thought it was a bit expensive but we really enjoyed our stay there, thought it was worth the money and are looking forward to returning! As for noise, we're complete country bumpkins and weren't bothered in the slightest. To have your ice packs frozen costs 30p each and the reception stays open until 21h, so they probably take latecomers.

Beautiful site. Wardens are extremely helpful and approachable. Toilet and showers were clean and there was hot water all day (no getting up early for hot shower here). Read reviews before going and was concerned about aircraft noise we need not have worried there was no noise from aircraft! Will definitely return.

This was our first camping trip, and we really enjoyed it. This is a really nice campsite set in a beautiful location. The facilities were always clean what ever time we used them, plus the showers were free with plenty of hot water. The play area was not very big but it had plenty of things for my little boy to keep himself entertained for hours. It is true what people have said about the large field, it is on a slope but it is nothing much to worry about. Also a lot have people have made remark about the noise, we must have gone on a good weekend as the noise was not that bad. We will go back to this site as we had a really good weekend, with no problem and the staff were all helpful

We stayed here last minute at May bank holiday with a group of friends who were camping after our previous site was cancelled due to flooding. We all stayed in electric hook up area. We saw an odd train and a few planes and experienced no problems with excessive noise as previously mentioned. Toilet block very clean and although only 3 showers in ladies section coped well over the bank holiday. Children enjoyed the play area and pool room. Overall a great site that is well maintained. The staff were very helpful. Would definitely return.
