Just returned from a great 3 nights camping (tent non electric) at Lime tree park. The site which caters for caravans and tents was well situated with picturesque views. Very friendly and helpful owners and good facilities with games room, small shop, reception and laundry. The toilet block and showers were very clean and sited fairly close to the camping fields. Anyone with walking difficulties may struggle as it is accessed via a steep hill and steps but we didn't find it a problem. We went on weekdays out of school holidays so site very quiet so perfect for what we wanted with our 2 year old. The site also had a small play area which was great for our little one and just the distraction needed to get her to come to do the washing up with us! As many other reviewers have stated, yes the site is sloping with the natural lie of the land but there are areas that are flat and with us going when we did in a quiet period we had our pick of these!
Overall had a wonderful few days and would return again.

Initially phoned up and I found the staff very helpful. Online credit card payment made this easy.
We were very impressed with the site in general.
Great pitch for the tent. We opted for one of the terraces as opposed to the field.
Dog walk area was immaculate.
Clear instructions on arrival.
Helpful staff.
Very clean shower block. You even had some washing-up liquid on the first day we were there! Brill!
We will definitely be coming again.

I booked three nights at this caravan site for my seven-year-old son and I. I often take my son on my own but I never fail to feel anxious about what I'm going to find when I get to the site. As a woman travelling alone with a child I want a site to feel safe and secure as well as clean and tidy.
I needn't have worried about this site. The staff were unfailingly welcoming, friendly and helpful. They told me several options for where to pitch my tent and I chose one of the terraces close to the children's play area. Past the play area is the toilet block, which was also handy to have close by!
The ground was well maintained: the grass had been cut and most importantly the clippings had been cleared away, so no clots of wet cut grass to sweep out of the tent! The areas for pitching tents were flat and the ground was soft and rock-free so I didn't have any problems putting the pegs in.
The play area was basic (two swings, a see-saw and a wooden bridge fort thing) but enough to keep my son happy as there were plenty of other children around to play with.
I felt safe leaving my son to play in the play area as I was within earshot, and I was also happy to let him play at the top end of the campsite with some other children because there were no roads and no exits at that end.
The site was quiet at night even on the third night which was a Friday, when more tents and caravans arrived. It never felt too busy because the tents were carefully spaced. I noticed two or three people waiting to use the showers on that Saturday morning but I don't think they had to wait too long. The shower and toilet block were clean and well maintained.
The site offers various discounts on local attractions and on two restaurants. The owners were clear that the Wetherspoons were good for breakfasts but perhaps not so good for dinners (very true) but that the Railway was excellent - and it really was. Both had 20% off for campers at this site.
I liked the fact that the showers were included in the price (I think it's silly to charge extra for something that everyone will use - why not just include it in the price, like this site does?) and that the prices were very clear from their site. And I appreciated the fact that you can check availability through this site - really helpful when searching for something at relatively short notice.
All in all, a clean, well-maintained site with friendly helpful staff who helped to make my stay in Buxton lovely.

We (fathers and daughters group) had a lovely stay here despite the thunder and heavy rain during the last night.
First impression counted and the staffs at reception was extremely helpful and cheerful when we arrived, which put us all at ease
We'd found a levelled patch just near the entrance to the main field which was ideal for the three tents - my only complaints would be that the main field was on a slope so wasn't perfect for pitching.
Having the staff, doing their night rounds, promising the kids that they could have a lolly each the next morning if they went to sleep was just the icing on the cakes. They were asleep in no time!
The facilities was warm, clean and modern. There are some steep steps to get to them so maybe not ideal for the less able but was no problem for us.
The playgrounds was great, the whole place was very family orientated so we didn't have any problem leaving the kids playing on their own.
Morrison was only 10/15 mins away (and opened till 21:00 most days) so is perfect for stocking up after setting up.
Buxton is a good 25-30 mins walk.
All in all I would recommend this site to all.
A+

We went with 2 other families for a weekend. The site is in a nice area, with nice views. There are a number of terraces which looked flat, and a large camping field. Having to accommodate 3 tents, we couldn't find space on the terraced area and so had to camp on the large field. This is very sloped - we had never camped on such a slope before and this gave us all sorts of challenges! Like how to sleep, how to cook and how to put a drink down. It was also a steep and long walk from the toilets. We never resorted to driving to the toilets as our neighbours did.
I would only return if I could definitely get a pitch on one of the flatter terraced areas, perhaps a quieter time of year.
Saying that, the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed walking into Buxton. The site was busy but we didn't have to wait long for the showers, and it did quieten down quickly at night.

We booked 5 nights at this site and we left feeling a little disappointed.
Our Outwell Montana 6 is not the biggest tent but we had to pay extra, for 2 adults child and a dog it was £25 a night, this does not include electric!
Our main disappointment was the shower and toilet facilities, only 3 mens toilets and 2 showers and the ladies had 5 toilets, 3 of which was out of use and 2 showers. They was not clean and the floor had a big crack in it because of subsidence. The pitches was not marked out and none of them was level, I feel this site caters for the static vans and mobiles more than tents.
The staff however are very friendly and gave advice freely, the location was also good for Buxton and Bakewell.
Sorry to say we won't be going back.

We are a family of 4 (6 year old and 18 month old) new to camping so we had a trial night at Lime Tree. The weather was gorgeous which helps - not sure how we will cope in torrential rain. Also it was Buxton carnival so there was loads going on in town to entertain the kids. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and directed to the field to pitch up. After a few expletives the tent was up. We chose to walk into Buxton (20-30 mins with a buggy on rather narrow footpaths in places with some idiots driving at very high speeds be cautious) where we had a great day at the carnival and returned via Taxi (£3) and cooked up some tea. The washing up facilities were kept clean - a credit to the guests. The shower and toilet facilities were clean and we did not have to wait too long. The playground is basic but keeps the kids entertained for an hour or so. The 'games' room is very basic with a pool table with cues only a few of which have tips. There was an arcade game that did not appear to be working and some basic toys scattered around the floor. Not that this is the most important factor but I think it would be well used on a rainy day.
All in all our first family camping experience was a success. Next stop Low Wray in the Lake District but we will be sure to come back to Lime Tree Park again. We highly recommend it.

We have just spent a long weekend in our touring van at Lime Tree Park, whilst our son and family stayed in one of their static vans. We received a very friendly welcome and the owners couldn't do enough to help. The site is beautifully situated, about a mile outside Buxton centre and within 5 minutes of a Morrisons supermarket and garage. The site caters for caravanners, campers and hirers/owners of statics. It is extremely well kept and has very good toilet/shower blocks, a small shop, games/information room and laundry room. There is a small adventure playground and plenty of play space in the camping field. The '10 pm quiet' rule was well observed during our stay and seems a very sensible way of ensuring that no-one is unnecessarily inconvenienced. Buxton has a good shopping centre and beautifully kept park with children's playgrounds and a miniature railway, as well as the internationally famous concert hall. We look forward to a return visit.

Very nice campsite. There is a 10pm curfew so its nice if you are after a quite site. Views are very nice. Top field slopes a bit. The only downside is that there's only one set of toilets down a very bad slope, then down a set of steps but they are very clean. Staff are very friendly. There is a small shop on site but morrisons is just 10mins away. Poole cavern is only a few mins away and is well worth a visit.

What a fabulous little campsite, lovely welcome on arrival very friendly staff. I made a mistake of not filling up my gas bottle before leaving home and steve and his lovely wife came to my rescue and fixed me up for my few day stay.
The little park was great for my 2 young children and I could allow them to explore without having to worry about there safety. Its a 25 minutes walk into buxton town and other places to visit, I recommend the pavilion park with little railway. All In all a fab few days camping and will be visiting lime tree campsite again. Thank you to all staff for a welcoming camping experience, my son wishes me to add I had lots of fun!
