We had a lovely weekend break at Lime Tree park. From arrival to departure the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly at recommending places to visit.
Facilities were very nice and clean, plenty of hot water, never had to queue for more than 5 mins for the showers even though the site was full. They did have to close the ladies on the Saturday monring due to maintenance repairs but they responded very quickly to the fault and the facilities were quickly reopened.
The site itself was very clean and wardens patrolled very regularly and bins were emptied frequently. The camping field is up hill and there is 2 quite big speed bumps to get up to the field, not suitable for car with a low bumpers / exhaust. The main field was very busy but there is a few small pitches located around as well. Would recommend arriving at site as early as possible as we did struggle to find a pitch.
Location is very good, with a large morrisons at the bottom of the road, although there is an on site shop for all your essentials.
Although we didn't have children, there is a good playground that seemed to keep the children entertained.
Not the cheapest site in Buxton but is worth paying extra for the location.
Would recommended and already have and we will definitely be returning, probably for a longer break.

Stayed here for two nights en-route to Wales,, very busy with tenters that weekend, however being in the Peak distict the top site is elevated with a very steep hill to the washrooms and toilets from the hard pitch area near the entrance. Anyone with mobility problems might find this a task, as I did several times a day, I was told of this when booking.
Lovely site in a lovely location, pubs and shops nearby, very friendly staff and well run site.

Spent 2 nights here June 2010 in a motorhome. We were greeted on arrival, and shown where to fill up with water etc. Very helpful and informative staff. Great site for motorhome users, as it's a short walk into Buxton. Our 2 small boys able to ride into town on bikes. There are plenty of leaflets etc about attractions in the area, and details of walks from the site itself.
There is a small play area, but didn't keep our boys busy for very long. They were able to ride bikes pretty safely round the site though. Toilets clean, showers clean, warm but not very powerful! (can't have everything!) The main pitches are set up a hill, but the motorhome area is right next to the road which was a little noisy, but much quieter at night, so didn't bother us that much.
Overall, a very nice site, well run and maintained, suited to families with younger children and couples. Would go back.

We (3 adults) stayed here for a long weekend and loved the site despite the rain!
The wardens and staff could not be more helpful and friendly. Nothing is to much trouble for them. As soon as we arrived, we were given leaflets and information about the site and nearby attractions.
Site facilities are excellent, lovely hot showers, water points, washing up area, launderette, well stocked shop (not over priced!)and a nice kiddies play area - although we didn't need it.
The site itself is slightly sloping mostly, but if not busy, you can find a fairly flat area to pitch your tent. What we loved was that you were not on top of each other and had plenty of room to set up your camp area.
What was disappointing was a very large & noisy family group opposite - they were talking and laughing very loudly until well after midnight despite the camp rule of quiet after a certain time. However, that said, it would not stop us going again.
Would definitely recommend this site and would love to go back.

This is our second visit to Lime Tree Park and as before a lovely relaxing break. We would highly recommend this site for camping especially for first timers!
The wardens are absolutely lovely and offer help with everything you could need. There is a shop, games room (with television), laundrette, clean toilets and shower block (with hairdryer).
There is many takeaway menu's that will deliver to the site, in easy distance to walk into Buxton, there's even a meat van that comes round on an evening for BBQ! (The site is trying to arrange a chip van too to come around).
We would recommend a walk into Buxton (about 15 minutes slow walk) and food at the railway pub (pudding board is a must!).The wardens will even book a tabe at local indian restaurant. Taxi has special rate from site into town just ask wardens.
Overall this site is a lovely site with great pitches and facilities, we will definitely be visiting again and would recommend anyone to try this site for easy visiting to Buxton and Bakewell (plus much more).

Stayed here over bank holiday and although the site was full it was very quiet and relaxing. It is very clean and tidy, with some lovely views.
On arrival the wardens were friendly and helpful.
We were showed to our pitch which was of the standard size, what I didn't like was your car had to be parked opposite side of van to the awning, if you want to sit outside your awning you were faced with next doors car. Just seems to make sense to me to have your own car where you can see it.
There is a dog walk on the lower level and you can also go through the tent field and around the top where there are lovely views of the viaduct and site.
I am pleased to say they appear to make people stick to the, no ball games and dogs on leads rule whilst on site.
There is a nice play area for the kids near the camping pitches.
The toilets and showers were always kept clean, showers were very hot though water pressure was a little low.
It is a nice walk into Buxton, out of gateway straight over the top of the field, across the road into the park.
The price is the same year round and although I expect to pay a little more on B/H it is at the upper end of what we like to pay out of season but we will be retuning I liked the site very much.

I can only support what others have said about this site.
We stayed for two nights at the beginning of May in a tent with EHU. We pitched on the field at the top of the hill as you first enter the site which was mostly filled with touring caravans. No road noise at all could be heard from here. As others have said the field was slightly sloping but not enough to cause any bother. Excellent, spotless, facilities with plenty of hot water and friendly welcoming staff. Wonderful location and just over a mile into Buxton. Would recommend and definitely stay again.

We stayed at Lime Tree Park over the May Bank Holiday weekend in a tent.
When we arrived on site we were greeted by the very helpful ladies who run the park, they couldn't have been more help! Gave us a map of Buxton, menus for takeaways explained where the opera house was (as we were going there on the Saturday night) and told us a couple of good pubs to go to. The next day they also recommended a good bike hire place (and printed the details out form the internet for us) and gave us a couple of walks to do which had very clear instructions.
The Warden directed us to either find a space on a terrace or go up to the main field, we camped on the terrace nearest the play area, we didn't get much noise here at all from the children, probably as we weren't around much in the day time I guess.
We were aware of noise from the road, it didn't bother us, but it might if you're expecting total peace and quiet. Both the terraces and fields appeared to have a bit of a slope so watch which way you pitch your tent!
We ordered an Indian takeway on the Friday night which is delivered to reception and was delicious! We also used the taxi services listed in reception which dropped us in the centre of Buxton for 3.50. It's about a 20 minute walk to the centre if Buxton which is fine - but not in high heels!
On the Saturday we hired bikes from Parsley Hay (about a 6 mile drive) and did the Tissington Trail (10 miles to Tissington, or 13 to Ashbourne) it's all off road trails, and is fairly easy, it's very gentle down hill on the way there but you definitely feel the uphill on the way back!
The walk to Soloman's temple from the campsite is nice and easy too.
Toilets and showers were great. No problems queueing and free showers for as long as you like. The hairdryer in the ladies is pretty poor, but you can use a plug in the laundry room for 20p for 7 minutes for hairdryer / straighteners, there's a mirror in there to which is handy.
Can't think of much else to say, apart from it's a great campsite to explore Buxton from! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

The previous reviews just about say it all for this site. We, being in a motorhome, were in the 'motorhome section', which is situated adjacent to the site entrance.
On arrival, we were similarly met and greeted and directed to a 'layby' up the site to fill up with water - then pay our dues. Which was all done speedily and efficiently. The same warden directed us to the pitching area, which was about ten pitches on hard-standings with grass in between. Note: levellers may be required depending on just which pitch you end up on - though none are too far out, and I'd guess if it wasn't a Bank Holiday (which ours was), you'd probably have a choice of pitch anyway. All the pitch's have EHU here.
Mention has previously been made of the road outside - which isn't a 'main' road, but still gets a decent flow of traffic. It certainly could be heard - but didn't bother us, even though we aren't used to traffic noise at home. Some kind of hedge screening would greatly benefit this lower pitching area.
There turned out to be a fresh water tap + grey water drain adjacent to this area (over the entranceway), but we were not actually told about it - we found it by accident. Better sign-age would help here, the facility being mostly hidden by bushes!
The loo block was up the hill in the main camping area, where there was another grey / chemical dump - but bizarrely no obvious fresh water tap (that I could see. Maybe it was behind more bushes?).
The block was clean and amply kitted out and given we were there on a BH - was never any queuing for the loos / showers - the latter being hot and unlimited, but a bit on the feeble side given there was little demand on them at the times I used it.
This upper area was a mixture of tents and caravans - some seasonal, and looked a bit erratic, with a 'pitch where you can' seemingly in operation where tents were concerned.
Walking into Buxton centre will take you about 25 minutes round the road. Though if you take the public footpath bang opposite the site entrance, a walk over the fields will shave a good five minutes off this.
There's a Morrisons at the road end - which has everything you want provision-wise. Buxton is a cracking little town - with a diverse number of pubs and eateries, a good shopping area, and a lovely park area, complete with huge Victorian events centre / conservatory, plus an opera house.
There's a fair bit more walking you can do from the site in other directions. In our case we went over the hill to Solomons Temple (a folly) and also sussed out the nearby Grin Low CC site. This was very nice and secluded - but quite a hike from civilisation if you are on foot-power only, as we were.
The only downside to the camp-site for me, was the large number of dogs on the site - predominantly the small, yappy type.!
All things considered though, its a great, well-run little site, and very well placed for the area.
The charge was £20 a night for the unit + 2 adults with leccy, which I didn't think bad for a Bank Holiday all things considered. Though, it's the same charge at all other times - which may then start to sound dear!

We chose Lime Tree Park due to its proximity to Buxton, knowing that even if the weather was rubbish, we'd still be able to find something to do!
On arrival, we were greeted in Reception by some very smiley and polite folk who took payment and gave us our tent tag. Not only that, they fully explained the rules and regulations of the campsite, where everything was and even went so far as to give us a map of Buxton and tell us a few things about the area. We were also told that you can order a takeaway and it'll be delivered to the campsite too! We didn't take advantage on this occasion, but it's definitely worth knowing!
Anyway, we headed up to the camping field, which due to the rubbish weather was pretty muddy (which is obviously nobody's fault!). We found a spot and pitched the tent, then headed to check out the facilities. There's a coded lock on the door, pretty high up which is great because it stops little kids from being able to get in (campsite rules say they're not allowed in unattended) and mess around.
The toilet block for campers was great - not huge so I suspect it gets very busy in summer, but at Easter there was no queuing for loos or showers! Everything was clean, plenty of loo roll and hot water, with a hairdryer, and a mop and bucket to clean the floor after yourself - which plenty of us had to do given muddy boots!
The pot wash area is between the ladies and gents toilets, with a little shelter, bowls and a bin. Again, this was kept clean and tidy with no shortage of hot water.
The site has a quiet policy between 10pm and 8am, which everyone seemed to adhere too - fantastic! One of the staff would roll up to the field every now and again to check everyone was OK and empty bins etc, again, very friendly.
There were plenty of bins and fresh water, and even some bricks you could use for BBQs, as long as you returned them.
Next to reception is a little shop, stocking the basics as well as lots of books, sales of which the proceeds went to charity. There's also a games room with a pool table, and a laundry room. A little further up towards the camping field is a playground, great for keeping the kids entertained.
On Easter Sunday the staff even organised an Easter Egg Hunt type thing for the kids - we even spotted a couple of them dressed up as bunnies!
The location is fantastic because of its proximity to Buxton and many other places in the Peak District, dependent on your interests. The town itself has lots of pubs, restaurants and takeaways, so you definitely wouldn't starve! There are also great views from the camping field across to Grin Low and Solomon's Temple - we could see quite a lot of snow on the hills!
Despite the rubbish weather, we still had a great time and were very impressed with the site. Lovely location, average pricing, friendly and happy staff, great facilities. We'll definitely be coming back.
