August 2002 I was very impressed with this camp site, friendly staff, lovely views and good walks. Great for kids with an indoor games room and a safe and modern outdoor play area. The sites facilities such as the showers and toilets were the best I have seen yet in fact the standrad of the campsite was excellent and I would definately go back (if only for a nice shower in the mornings!). Friends that came with us have a caravan and they were very impressed with the site and said they would recommend it to anyone and so would I!
P.S. I only heard one plane at night and never noticed any trains!

2/8/02 This is a wonderful campsite with helpful staff.
Views were fantastic, facilities were clean and smart.
Wouldn't advise the back field, as you tend to slip down your bed at night because of the slight incline.
Would recommend to anyone.

This is quite a large site with a great variety of different pitches. There are also static holiday homes and park lodges to rent. Near the entrance to the park on the left are flat tent pitches with electric hook-up. Further up the hill to the left is a separate caravan field with a toilet/shower block. You go past the statics to the left to go to reception and there is a small shop and games room here also. They have lots of tourist leaflets available at reception.
The tent pitch was £10.00 for the night. The toilet block for the tent pitches is up steps at the back of the reception building. There are sinks outside for dishwashing. The toilets were very modern with vanity style sinks and very good showers.
The thing to bear in mind though is the further away you pitch, the further away from the toilets you are. Not far up from the toilets is a play area for children with very good play equipment and safe spongey matting in case of falls.
>From reception you follow the little road up to the left (beware of the little speed bumps as you may scrape your exhaust!) and the first pitches you come to are some terraced pitches that are reasonably flat. These were very crowded when we got there and you choose your pitch on a first come first served basis. We couldn't get on one of these pitches and so the pitches left are just in a very large open field. It was difficult to pitch the tent because of stones but we managed it OK. The view, however, was spectacular and it is a good site if you want to go walking in the area.
The site accepts motorbikes so that is good if you are a biker. There was quite a bit of noise from the A515 and, although there is a railway line nearby (viaduct) there was no noise from this. Think the site must be under a flight path for some routes to Manchester Airport though coz quite a number of planes went over, even through the night, and the noise was tremendous to me (I am a very light sleeper though!)
