Just returned from 3 nights on this site. I cannot speak highly enough of this place. The view from our caravan was spectacular to say the least. It is so clean. The pitches are very private. The staff are so helpful and friendly. There was a rally on during our stay but we were not disturbed at all. The facilities are exceptionally clean and the shower blocks heated. I would recommend anyone to stay here, it is a wonderful setting. We don't have children but the children's play area is well taken care off and looked clean. The dog was very welcome too. Will definitely be going back for Matlock Bath Illuminations in September.
There are plenty of water/waste/recycling points etc scattered around the site, wherever you are you don't have to go far for water etc.

Fantastic site with all hard standing. When we booked we asked for a sunny pitch with a view and was not disappointed. Shower blocks were very clean and warm. We arrived early and after checking in was taken around the site by the warden in his buggy to show us our pitch and point us to where we could park up till it became vacant. Great position to explore southern peak district. Very helpful staff ! Go armed with rock pegs for awning !

We've always fancied this site, as its local to us, and we love the area. We recently bought a caravan after camping for many years & couldn't wait to book a pitch here.
We weren't disappointed, the site is well run, clean and welcoming.
We found the facilities to be clean and well maintained, my only gripe (sorry) is the showers, although hot and clean, I despise the push button, I know lots of sites use them, but I personally would pay extra not to have to push every 6 seconds.
We walked to the garden centres very close by, but unfortunately didn't manage to get a meal in any of the pubs near Lickpenny, you do need to book in advance (bear that in mind)
We would most definitely book again at Lickpenny, as we can be here & set up before tea on a Friday night. Perfect

We have just spent our honeymoon at Lickpenny. What a fantastic site. It's very clean and well maintained. We went for a deluxe pitch and it was well worth it, constantly having running water is brilliant, the same as not having to empty the grey water container all the time. Certainly plenty to do around the Derbyshire area too.
Planning a return visit next year as we enjoyed it so much.

We had the most awful weather at Lickpenny - wet and very windy but it didn't detract from the fact that this is a very nice site. The pitches are spacious and laid out in such a way that you feel very private. The facilities are well kept and clean, if a little bit of a hike from our particular pitch and the views are gorgeous. At least they were before they became shrouded in mist! We did manage a visit to The Heights of Abraham in a break in the rain and this was very enjoyable.
Everyone st Lickpenny was helpful and friendly and we would definitely like to go back - perhaps to enjoy some sunshine!

Just got back from this site, I can say it's easily on par with any caravan club site. Toilets are heated and clean. The site is very picturesque, with pitches on different levels, giving lovely views over the Peak District. The staff are very friendly and informative.
The only criticism I can give this site is the WiFi access. The Internet was also very slow, far quicker on 3G. It is the most expensive Internet access I have ever purchased

This is a lovely site. We've just had our second visit and it is such a beautiful and peaceful site. The facilities are excellent - kept very clean and tidy. Everyone is friendly. There are good facilities for children. Each pitch is a very generous size and allows for a quiet break. We'll definitely be back.

Stayed here for a long weekend over the half term break in October. Booking over the telephone was really easy, and the girl taking the booking very pleasant. She described the layout of the site and the pitches available, and asked what was important to us. When we arrived on site the pitch was perfect, she had got it just right. The view from the van was the best we have ever had on a site. Site facilities were very good, and were always lovely and warm, there was a problem with the toilets blocking up one evening, and they had to be closed, but the disabled toilet was opened up and the main toilets were fixed really quickly. Plenty to do nearby, Heights of Abraham is fantastic. Would definitely go again.

An excellent site with large hedged pitches. Good clean facilities. Nice woodland walk to a lovely garden centre and the town of Matlock a short drive away that has a Sainsbury super market for groceries. A visit to Bakewell, Ashbourne and Chatsworth house are a must for a day out.
Children's play area and large grassy area for children to run and play. We feel this is by far one of the best sites we have visited and we return again and again. Seems a little pricey but does include your awning so no hidden extras. Highly recommended !

We stayed here for 10 days in late September, and were surprised how quiet the site was. The access is easy, and check in was dealt with by a very friendly receptionist, who explained everything to us. We were given a code for the barrier, and found our pitch easily. We had asked for a pitch with a view, and were pleased to find we had an excellent view from one of the very large pitches at the top of the site. The pitches are all hardstanding, and reasonably flat, although we did have to level our caravan slightly side to side. These must be biggest pitches we have ever used on a UK campsite, and most have small hedges or bushes to give a degree of privacy. Some pitches however do face tall hedges, so choose carefully or you will be looking straight at a hedge, and get little sunshine during the day! The two facilities blocks are immaculate, probably the cleanest I have ever used. No cobwebs or dead insects, which are usually found at most campsite loos. There are not many showers or loos in each block however, and I would think during busy summer months, there would be a long wait to get a shower. At this time of the year, there was no problem though. The ground is VERY hard, so rock pegs and a lumphammer are a must. I came prepared having read other reviews, and managed to get all my pegs in, and out without too much trouble. Each pitch has electric of 16amps, and water and waste points are dotted around the site, so you never have far to walk, which is just as well, as the site is on a slope, and walking up from the loo block to our pitch was good exercise for the calf muscles! There is a large children's play area, a wildlife area, and good dog walks. Reception stocks milk papers and basic food stuffs, and there is a tourist information area, with lots of leaflets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, despite some early morning fog for a few days, and would recommend this site for its easy access, and huge pitches. Obviously we visited out of season, and it was very quiet, I would imagine it would seem a different site during the school holidays, when the pressure on the shower blocks would be much greater.
