Stayed here for 3 nights in our VW Camper and had a great time. The site is of very high standard, our pitch was number 19 near the toilets and opposite the childrens play area which was perfect position. The toilets/ showers/pot washing areas are kept very clean and there are even fresh flowers in there! The playground is good for older children but younger ones may need more supervision as the slides etc have steep steps and the ground quite hard. Make sure you take rock pegs for awnings as all pitches are hardstanding which works well. Also windbreaks come in handy as it can get v windy at the site. The pitches are large and everywhere is very clean. Nice walk into Matlock about 3 miles all down hill, definitely either catch the bus or get cab (£5) back. Paddling pool in Matlock, Aquarium in Matlock Bath and Heights of Abraham all well worth visits if you have children with you. All in all a great site which is fantastic value for money - definitely would go back.

A fantastic site, we booked for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay that much we came home mid week for work but left the caravan there for a small fee so we can go back for the following weekend. Showers are free and spotless, there is even a family bathroom with a small bath small toliet and sink, very ideal if your young kids dont like showers, in reception is a small shop that sells most things like papers eggs bacon bread milk tin food ice cream sweets awning pegs washing powder ( yes you can even do some washing while you are there if you like ). My little girl enjoyed the kids park and running free on the large grass area, kids can also play ball games if they fancy. All pitches are are standing and they all go straight on to tarmac so you dont have to go on the grass to get to the shower block this is great if the weather is raining. The only let down is there was no pub in walking distance to what I noticed, so we were glad we stocked up on the lager. Over all I give this site 10/10

Only our second trip with the caravan, and this was only booked on the Friday afternoon. Site was nearly full so we were lucky to get in. Well laid out site, great children's play area for our 4 and 2 year old, and superb washrooms. We will definitely go back.

Recently visited Lickpenny and found the site very picturesque and very spacious. The toilets were spotless and the showers were clean and FREE !. Childrens play area was good and plenty of grass for them to play ball games. There were several places to walk and a small wooded area. Great for taking the dog! We had rain and alot of it, but it never spoilt our break. I would highly recommended the site, in-fact we are going back in a few weeks.

We went between the bank holidays. Lickpenny is very good indeed. About 60 pitches, all hard-standing with 16A hookups. About 10 are superpitches with standpipe and drain. These are bigger then the rest and set slightly higher up the hill. The whole site is on a gentle hillside but all the pitches are dugout and perfectly level with shrubs around for privacy. Between different areas are trees, useful this weekend as they sheltered us from winds. There is a lovely copse in the middle, It says dog walking area but we enjoyed walking through and we don't have a dog! Also a children's playground. Mainly for adventurous older children, i.e. Rustic climbing frames, Monkey bars and tyres for swings. There are two facilities blocks. Top spec and free Hot showers and hair drier. Veg preparation area, laundry and, in the main one, a children's bathroom. With small toilet, fold down changing table and a short, two depth, bath. Lovely and warm and plenty of hot water. Small shop on site with essentials and loads of local information. 5 Min walk to garden centre with cafe and Tansley Sunday Market and Car Boot. Although close there was no disruption on Lickpenny Lane. Several pubs in Tansley but it's quite a walk away and uphill on the return journey! Really handy site for Derbyshire Dales and the Peak District. Matlock 5 mins down main road. Less than 20 mins from Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall Matlock Bath, Crich Tramway Museum Peak Village Outlet (Shopping) and Bakewell (They call the cakes "Bakewell Puddings" not Tarts). Not to mention the hundreds and hundreds of acres of beautiful land to walk and explore.

Had a lovely three days here on our way home from the Norfolk Broads. The Peak District was beautiful and we loved Matlock. Had a great day out at Heights of Abraham, well worth a visit. Site very nice. Lovely and clean throughout the site and toilets. Kids play area great. A small shop on site sells essentials. Take rock pegs, awnings are hard standing. Pitches a good size and quite private with hedges in between. Only downside for us, no good walks off site for our dog. Any walking meant crossing a very busy road. All in all a lovely site in a lovely area. Would go back.

A very good caravan site. We stayed here the week leading up to Easter and left on Good Friday as all the other caravans were arriving. The pitches are very big and all are hard standing. Take rock pegs as the ground is very hard. Good facilities and they also have a children's bathroom which has a bath and child's sized sink and toilet. Our 5 year old loved it. Good play area with lots of room for ball games. If you have children take your bikes and go on the Tissington Trial. Get on it at Ashbourne. There is a slight uphill from Ashbourne to Tissington but when you get to Tissington there is a shop selling very reasonable ice creams and back is all downhill so you can freewheel. Also try the park in Matlock. The paddling pool is great. They have a small woodland dog walk and would definitely go again.

Excellent family site. All hard standing pitches large enough for a twin axle caravan, awning and car side by side. Individually hedged bays. The site was full but there was plenty of space. We needed chocks to level the van. (not a major issue). Tv reception was good All 5 channels using the standard rooftop status. Toilets were exceptionally clean and we never saw any queues over the Easter holidays. Good views of the valley with the pitches around the children's play area. The site has plenty of space for all the kids to join in a game of football, fly kites etc etc. The shop was a traditional camp site shop and reasonably priced with daily papers to order. If the garden is your hobby then this area is well worth a visit with all the garden centres / nurseries. Denby pottery and Crich Tramway museum are nearby well worth a visit. Downside :- There isn't one in our opinion.

A lovely caravan park that was easy to find. The pitch sizes are great and the toilet / shower blocks are very modern and clean. They even had fresh flowers in them and a hairdryer. The staff were friendly and you could order morning papers at reception. We would definitely recommend this site.
