A very nice site with big hard standing pitches. There was a Conway Rally on while we were there, so the site was very busy but they managed to squeeze us in.
The site is big and seems to have pockets of pitches all over the place, althougb it's quite hilly all the pitches are pretty level. There are 2 shower blocks on site whish were kept immaculately clean while we were there and even though the site was packed we never had to wait for a shower. The shower cubicles are very spacious with plenty of hot water at no extra charge, one thing I really liked in the toilet blocks were the soap dispensers, so many sites don't have them.
There is a nice play area for the kids, yas it could probably do with up-dating, but our 6 year old spent many hours enjoying herself with the other kids on the site.
Matlock is only 3 miles away where you will find plenty of shops including somerfield, kwik save & co-op. There is a lovely big park in Matlock with a nice paddling pool for the kids, also a train that you can ride on for 50p. Matlock bath just down the road offers many visitor attractions, including Gullivers Kingdonm and the Heights of Abraham. We will definitely return to Lickpenny next summer!

August 2005 Just come back from a weekend at this site. Very clean showers and toilets and well kept grounds. The pitches are very spacious, and great with being hard standing, no wet grass to walk through. We went home to fetch the bikes for the kids as the site is safe to ride around. Could not believe how peaceful it was even with kids there. a must go site.

August 2005 Brillant site. So much space and good toilet block though a bit short on the number of gents washbasins. You could have to wait at busy times. You will need 'bullit' style pegs, it's the hardest pitch I have ever been on. The super pitches are worth the extra for the nice avenue that they are in, but don't expect the advertised view as the trees are now too high. Would revisit. Tip - learn the unclassified roads alternative means to get into Matlock at peak times, its a nightmare. The dog loved the place.

July 2005 Just returned from this superb site , so much to do within an hours drive , Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, American Adventure, etc, Well laid out, great for dogs ,kids. showers / toilets excellent and also a kids bath, just off the laundry area (great idea). Very big hardstanding pitches (some fully serviced). Very helpful owners / wardens. Not a huge range in the shop but enough of the bare essentials. Love the area and will definitely return to this site.

July 2005 This site is superb, the owners could not have been more friendly and helpful. the pitches are huge and the toilet and shower block were spotless, only downside the childrens play area could do with modernising not much for an active 1 1/2 year old.

June 2005 Lovely site, huge pitches but hardcored and need good steel pegs for awning, available at office for 50p each. Spotless shower blocks. Site owners very helpful. Lovely area, the kids even got Kate on the cable car when she is scared of heights. This site is now in our Top Ten, will definitely visit again.

May 2005 Absolutley brilliant site. Paid extra for a super pitch and a couple of pounds to stay on the pitch until 6.00pm Sunday - very useful if you are only there for the weekend. The shower and loo block is very clean and modern and there is a free! launderette and washing up room all imaculate. The pitches overlooking the play area are near enough yet far enough (if you see what mean) The children can have a bit of independance but not disturb anyone elseand you are near enough to keep an eye on them. Lots of green grassey places to play ball games. Great dog walk etc. The sun shone and the view from our pitch (8a) was superb. The pitches are huge even the standard ones seem bigger than normal. Loads to do in the area only about 4 miles from Matlock. Great places to eat, walk and cycle. Just a little piece of heaven will definately return.

May 2005 Our first ever weekend away with a caravan??? Site is pleasantly quite, we were situated by park for our three girls to play on, simple enough but girls really enjoyed it. owners there were really helpful, our electric cable wasnt long enough to reach the plug but they borrowed us an extra long one so no probs there. We also decided to try out our awning for the first time but due to it being hardsanding we had to buy some pegs of them which where £5.00 for 10 (dont know if this was cheap or not) but good on them for having supplies there.Unfortunatly being a very windy weekend we had to take it down anyway after one night so we didnt ruin it. The weather was neither here nor there it really rained heavy one minute and was sunny the next, but the park was not muddy at all, dryed up pretty quickly. went on the cable cars in matlock back which was quite expensive but well worth trying once i spose, takes you to top of hill where there was a cave tour and cafe/restaurant (a bit pricey)and a few other little shops and not forgetting a park. All in all a lovely wet first weekend away.

April 2005 Stayed last weekend, good site quiet if you needed peace but also play area available for children. Choice of being sited near play areas or more secluded areas when booking. The playarea was not overly crowded or noisy at any times.
Pitches good size for van, awning and car alongside each other.site well drained.
All hygiene, laundry and food preparation rooms immaculate.
Reception area has a good range of information leaflets and menus for local public houses / restaurants.
Many places to visit locally, within walking distances garden centres, village of Tansley. Ride into Matlock or other areas of interest in Peak district.
We would definately re-visit this site only being a hours and twenty minutes from South Yorkshire
