We've just been to this wonderful site for 3 nights. The first night it snowed! The next two were fine and we had no issue whatsoever with the pitch. The size of the pitch was fantastic and it was very well looked after. In fact, the whole site was immaculate. The facilities were spotless and the staff were very friendly.

The views from our pitch were amazing, with a view of Riber Castle nestling on the hill in front of us.

Very short distances from Matlock and Matlock Bath and even the dog walking area was very picturesque!

Can't wait to go again.

Stopped on this site for the first time over New Year. Although there was heavy rain most of the time, the site seemed unaffected as most pitches were hard standing. The pitches are very generous in size and very well laid out offering as much privacy as practically possible, most having very good views out towards Riber. We were on a standard pitch but found water/waste points dotted all over the site so not far for water! The site is beautifully maintained to a very high standard. We found the toilet block to be warm and very clean. There was a very generously sized dog walking area in a wooded area of the site with bins. The on site shop seems to stock many items though we really didn't have to use it much as we had shopped before our visit. On arriving we were greeted by extremely friendly and helpful staff who gave us information on local walks/pubs.

The walks we did were fantastic:

To Ashover (about 3 miles) which has two really nice dog friendly pubs, especially the 'The Poets' which had a whole array of real ales.

A short walk about a mile into Tansley brought us to the Tavern public house which was exceptional, the staff were so friendly and the beer and food were amazing, highly recommended. The walk back at night to the site was not too bad as the A road has a footpath and the remaining road to the site had no traffic although a torch is essential. Walking through Tansley and then about another 2 miles along the main road brought us into Matlock which is a lovely little town with plenty of interesting shops and a few bars/pubs.

Overall this has been one of the best trips we have had (We even extended our stay by a night as we didn't want to go home!) and I would recommend this site to anyone and we can't wait to go back in March.

Although expensive for a January weekend you get what you pay for, superb facilities helpful staff and a warm welcome. We walked down long hill into Tansley to find a pub that is to die for we were treated as locals from the first footing Royal Oak a must.

Stayed here for the weekend, the park has 100 pitches and we were all crammed in next to each other. A caravan alarm was going off all day Saturday and the park owner didn't seem bothered about it at all! I was going to ask if I could move to another pitch out of the way but another customer had already asked and he was refused, makes no sense when there are loads of empty pitches.

The showers needed pressing every 10 seconds, the showers were hot but the room was cold. The utilities was ok but the water taps are in a wooden box which is rotten, chunks of soggy wood broke off in my hand.

Low rating given due to lack of customer service and the noise levels, kids on roller skates flying passed my motor home screaming, dogs barking, caravan alarms going off, adults playing in the snow in the early hours of the morning, owner on his tractor passing numerous times a day. Glad to be home to get some peace and quiet.

Disappointed after reading the reviews. The site is well planned and hedges etc separate a lot of the pitches/areas but be warned that some of the pitches your view will be a hedge (could have stayed on my drive for that). The toilet/showers are ok but looking a bit tired and need a good clean in some places. The lady on reception was very friendly but the man was rude and should not be dealing with customers, maybe I caught him on a bad day but I found him very intimidating and tried to avoid him for the rest of my stay. There is a small playground for the children but it is open and next to the main through road so please keep an eye on your little ones as the tractor flies up/down this road constantly. I personally would never stay here again but that is purely down to bad customer service.

Had 7 wonderful days at this site. Never been caravanning before but found this site very welcoming. With hard stand pitches of very good sizes, including full service. There was plenty of room for our caravan and awning with added sleeping area and still more than enough room for the car too. The views are amazing. The facilities are very clean and welcoming, as is the whole site, with plenty of space for children to play and a lovely dog walking area also. The owners are very pleasant and the shop has a few basics, but as there is a Sainsbury's, which is open until 10, about 10 mins drive away, what they lack is very easy to get hold of. The showers and toilet facilities are excellent, though the showers can be a little frustrating as the push button only last for a few seconds, but other than this every thing else compensates for this. Beautiful site would recommend a visit if you want to see the lovely Derbyshire area as has easy access to all the well visited areas of this county.

Site is very good, large all service pitches if you require them, but also other type, pitches large enough to accommodate the Caravan, Awning, and car, Large play area for the children, showers/Toilets always clean and heated, the only problem with the showers is that they only give you approx. 5 seconds before you have to press again(not good), also if you are a dog lover there is a dog walk, If not I thought they allowed to many on site and some owners not controlling them, short walk to Garden centre/café, local pubs serve very good food but have to book at times, only 5 stars owning to the showers and to many dogs

This site is well placed for exploring the Matlock & Bakewell area of the Peak district.

All the pitches are on hard standings with mature trees & shrubs providing privacy. The entry & exit is via a barrier & code system which changes regularly. The facilities are all you would expect to find on a well kept site. There are 2 amenities blocks that have toilets (very clean), showers with plenty of hot water & an indoor washing up area. The pitches are terraced into the hillside, well lit and children's play areas are large and separate from the pitches. The waste is very well managed with an extensive recycling point at the rear of reception. There is no extra charge for an awning.

The site is quite high up and Riber Castle can be seen on an opposite hillside. There is a Garden centre a couple of mins walk away which has a café and a couple of pubs that do food only a 5min drive away.

Just got back from our first visit to this site, what can I say it was amazing! We were well impressed with this beautiful site. We had a choice of a pitch near the play area or with a view, we chose the view and wasn't disappointed. We had a fantastic view of Riber castle and the surrounding area. The pitches are all hard standing, There are plenty of fresh water, toilet disposal and bin points scattered around the site which were emptied regularly. The toilet and showers blocks were heated and were always exceptionally clean with plenty of hot water

there is a good sized children's park / plenty of dog walks

I would recommend anyone to stay here We cannot wait to come back, it is a wonderful site

One word-amazing! We have just returned from a 2 night stay and I have to say how impressed we were with this beautiful site. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome and given a run down of the facilities and where these were on a handy little site map. The park itself is gated with a security code which made us feel extra safe. The pitches are hard standing and rock pegs were available to buy in the small shop which stocks basic rations - hot drinks papers to order and snacks. The pitch itself felt enormous, there was loads of space which is so much better than some parks which leave you feeling crammed in. We had a gorgeous view of the former riber castle. There are plenty of fresh water, toilet disposal and bin points which were emptied regularly. The toilets and showers were fab, (2 blocks for the whole site) hot water on tap and all included in the price. There are pot washing areas with an added bonus of a microwave which we will take advantage of on our next stay. There are laundry facilities and a disabled toilet. If you have children there are some lovely grassy areas along with a park to play on and if like us you have a furbaby there is a lovely little dog walking area. A 5 minute walk around the corner from the site is Scotland garden centre which has a restaurant, gift shop and farm shop. I can recommend the homemade scones!

If suggestions were taken on board the only point I would make is that it would be nice to have a fridge selection in the shop which could sell sandwiches/pastries etc.

We cannot wait to come back for another stay, thank you to all the staff and congratulations on your wonderful site!
