 February 2005
Just got back from lickpenny and have been as pleased as ever, got very cold this weekend (18th/21st) and our aqua rolls froze up but the views were still lovely of the surrounding countryside.
The cleaning of our van was assisted by the owners letting me use a ladder to clean the roof.
Can't wait to go back again, always love the deluxe pitches as the best views are enjoyed from there.

A very nice site open all year with splendid views especially if you pitch high up at the back of the site. We paid £1.50 extra for a super pitch which gave you a large hard standing pitch with electric hook up and your own individual water tap plus grey water waste disposal. The site was well maintained and very peaceful.

We did not use the shower and toilet facilities so unfortunately I cannot comment on them - but if the rest of the site is anything to go by I would imagine they would be very good.

You could come and go as you liked and there was a barrier that you punched a security code into and this gave you access both in and out of the site. The nearest pub or restaurant was about 1/4 mile away and the site was ideally located for visiting the area. We would definitely return.

Would definately recommend this site, Excellent and clean facilities which include family rooms (inc. mini toilet and bath for kids) site was very clean and well set up with water and waste points within easy reach of all pitches.

All hard standing with plenty of room for van,car and awnings. Shop basic (not a shop really) so you would need to buy provisions elsewhere but that is really the only downpoint. Staff friendly and even had a escort to my pitch where I was guided in as it was dark. Will definately be back

A wonderful site situated on top of hill near the beautiful town of Matlock and Matlock Bath,a great base for exploring the surrounding Derbyshire countryside for walks etc...
The site can get extremely windy because of its hilltop location, awnings beware ours collapsed! all pitches are hard standing!

Toilets/showers laundry food prep area all immaculately kept, (so warm my glasses kept steaming up upon entering!) A great play area for the little ones over looked by some pitches. The shop is very basic and very small (sold few chocolate bars and milk and strong pegs for pegging awning into hard standing pitches) We had a great four days regardless of the weather will visit again ........

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at Lickpenny. Has to be one of the best sites we have stayed on!! Double hardstandings, peaceful location, lots of space for the children to play, playpark and everyone drives slowly!!Lovely woodland walks to garden centre selling lovely christmas gifts and chocalatier/coffee shop and restaurant. Must visit Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham and Gullivers World if you have young children. This site will definately become a favourite of ours, the staff are ultra friendly and the site showers/toilets are immaculate. Free washing machines and indoor pot washing facilities excellent security also. Does not accept tents though. Excellent, can't praise enough!!!!

Just got back from Lickpenny and must say it is a lovely site all the pitch's are more than adequate in size, so theres no problem parking your car and getting your awning up, if you go ask for a deluxe pitch all have their own cold water supply and waste facilities, the toilet/shower block was spotless and the staff was more than helpful with everything ,will deffinately be going back ,would give lickpenny 9 1/2 out of 10.

 September 2004
We stayed just after the Aug Bank holiday and was pleasantly suprised, excellent site, nice friendly welcome, absolutly spotless toilets and facilities.
Also plenty to do, we have a 1 yr and 4 yr old boys (well the 4yr old) thoroughly enjoyed going to Gullivers World, it was well worth the 8 quid each (for those under 90cm).
A little noisy due to harvest time and motorbikes on the road naerby but other than that no compliants. Carl and Wendy

we stayed at this site for the second time and we were not disapointed, it is a lovely caravan site, the owners are superb and are very helpful. If you like to see a nice sunset ask for a pitch in the eighties from 80-87

This is a pleasant site with good sized pitches very clean modern toilets and showers. A little disappointing in that the rubbish was left for 5 days before being removed and that in the ladies toilets a hairdryer was provided with enough cable to allow it to be dropped in the washbasin Parents beware for your childrens safety.

Having read the previous reviews , there's not a lot to add except we agree with everyone. The site is lovely, spacious, very clean and can't fault it at all. We will be going back.
