Just come back from a weeks camping, great location for Robin Hoods Bay, good pub and little shop in village. Very busy site and tents to tightly packed for my liking, playground for kids but not really suitable for smaller children due to it being busy also no open space for kids to run around. Toilet block was fine but I had to complain 3 times about the showers and my wife complained once, tepid temperature and they suddenly went cold half way through the shower, not good when showering little ones. Overall a good site but could be better if the tents were not packed in as much and the showers were sorted out.

Just come back from a three night stay at Middlewood Farm, our first time there, will definitely return.
The facilities were very good, always kept clean. Two hair driers for the ladies and two plug sockets all included in the price. I never had to queue for the showers having said that I did get up early, around 8.30am it began to get busy but it is a large camp site. Friday's do get busy but wasn't off putting.
There was a play area for the kid's and a footpath straight into Robin Hood's Bay which was about a 10 minute walk came out opposite fish shop.
Fylingthorpe is a lovely village with a good pub serving excellent food.

Just returned from a 2 night stay, arrived Friday morning no problems booking in and was shown by a warden where to pitch, we were put in the Top Field, by teatime the field was full.
The toilet block was close by but you did have to pick your time. From early morning on Saturday till 11ish the queues were long for toilets and showers, again around teatime you couldn't even get in the toilets for the amount of people queueing.
There really isn't enough facilities to accommodate the amount of pitches on site. The views from the site and Robin Hoods Bay are stunning but would only return during midweek when the site is quieter and more able to cope.

Middlewood farm Fylingthorpe (we came from A171 Whitby road) is well signposted (the approach road coming from Scarborough is a better road for larger units)
We had a friendly and most helpful reception.
The centrally located shower block was first class, with sensor activated showers, for additional cost and indulgence there is a bathroom. All other facilities are close to hand.
Flat hard standing pitches, electric hook ups.
A 10 minute+ walk to robin hood's bay, a real treat
Winding streets, quaint houses, craft shops, tea rooms.
A 5 minute walk to shops. There is a mobile food trailer which opens most evenings and some mornings.
A round coastal walk to Ravenscar (light 9 mile walk) took us 4hours+
Only downside is that in the Family field it can smell of the 'farm', but this is also a working farm Wonderful place which I intend to revisit.

Just returned from 4 nights at this site. Thought it was fab. Staff friendly, washrooms great. Walk to shop, park, decent (if a little expensive) pub with great kids play area & not forgetting walk to beach.
Bit of a shock to the system with our 2 pre schoolers when the hoards arrived on Friday but very well organised pitching by owners/site team and everyone extremely friendly. The Friday night was our first experience of busy peak time camping and we weren't put off which says a lot.
Will definitely be back.

Pre-booked 2 x EHU pitched adjacent for my family (2 adults, 2 infants) and my brother family (2 adults, 1 child, 1 teenager and a dog), we arrived early on the Friday and were virtually the first people to pitch, on a very windy and wet bank holiday.
Pitches were flat and none were too far to toilet/shower block which was clean. Never had to queue myself but on walking out of shower one morning there was a little queue, 2 hairdryers, free of charge. Also found the baby room useful for bathing our 1 yr old. Washing up facilities also useful and posted adjacent to notice board, for local info.
Site filled up very quickly and it was bit tight getting our car in front of our 6 berth Vango orchy tent.
We didn't use the food van on site but it did seem very popular.
No shop on site, but local shop is only short walk away.
We walked down into RHB, easy enough and with a pushchair, few rough bits but not too bad at all. 15 min drive into Whitby.
God little children's play area, but always very busy since was BH, perhaps not big enough for the site.
Appears its a very popular site, we did book about 6 weeks in advance and were told we'd got 2 of the last 3 pitches. Would return but would perhaps avoid the BH next time.

Great potential, shame the facilities were just not sufficient for the number of tents. Queues of at least 5 people each morning for the showers even though I tried a number of times between 7am and 8.30. Not enough basins and mirrors either. There was even a big queue for washing up.
If you are in the top field it is quite a distance to the facilities, particularly on a wet night! I felt that it was rather pricey for the relatively basic facilities.
The site itself is however in a beautiful setting. No light pollution and a pretty walk to the beach. Staff on reception were friendly and helpful.

Stayed one night late July. Had called in in June to enquire about booking in for 6 cycle campers for the next month. Was told they would not take bookings but if we rang early on the day we were to arrive space for our 3 small tents would be reserved.
We rang in the morning of our arrival day and were told we must arrive before 5pm to get a pitch, a bit of a problem as generally we schedule for 7.
I cycled on ahead of my party to get there for the requested time. The men in the office were efficient took £48 and one then took me some distance through a very busy camping field to find a space. Eventually a small area was found and I quickly set up one tent and shot off back along the route to help the others.
One young member of our party had fallen from his bike and therefore had to go to hospital for treatment and a checkup. A a result both he and his dad had to check into a hotel for the night.
I returned to the others and set up the other small tent and then asked the wardens about a refund for the 2 not staying, he just laughed. Hmmm! Not on really as we were together taking less space than a general tent pitch.
The site was extremely busy but the tents surrounding us had young families with well behaved children who did not need to party all night. Many thanks to them all.
This site is in a wonderfull location though is used a a money pump. If I go again I will try to get as far away from the centre as possible, just to ensure a decent nights sleep.

It’s difficult not to just repeat what others have said about this site in other reviews.
When we arrived, we reported to Reception, where I was given a welcome sheet and shown on the map where to find our pitch. The chap I was speaking to then radioed the Warden so he could meet us there and advise us on where / how to pitch.
The facilities on the site really are first rate, too. We were in the caravan field, as we had chosen to have an electric hook up to our pitch. We found that our extension lead was a little bit too short to reach the electric points (as it was only 15m), but I was able to rent one from Reception for a refundable £30 deposit.
The toilets / showers are accessed by a simple code lock on the door (the code is written on the welcome sheet you are given when you arrive) and were clean and tidy throughout our stay, with us only having to queue once when it was busy. We were on pitch 23, which is right across from the toilets / showers / washing up facilities / water points, so this really wasn’t an issue for us. It also meant that we could keep our dog on his lead outside our tent while we did the washing up and he was only about 10m away from us and in constant sight.
The other thing I need to mention as far as facilities go, is ‘The Great Griddler’ which is the takeaway van-thing on site. This is open in the mornings for breakfast and again in the evening for dinner (07:30-10:30 then 16:30-20:30, I think it was). The choice of food is great, they even offer a selection of homemade dishes in the evenings. I had the 16oz Rump steak with chips, onions rings, tomatoes and mushrooms (for only £10.50) and my partner had their homemade chicken curry with rice, mango chutney and Naan bread for only £6.00. Bargain, I thought! The lady who was running the van was really nice, too, and our dog became her best friend when she’d given him some doggy treats when we went to get the menu.
The location of this site is also brilliant. It’s only 20 mins drive to Whitby (where we spent some of the time on the Saturday) and only ten minutes walk from the beautiful Robin Hood’s Bay down the site’s own access path. This is through a field of cows, so you need to make sure you keep your dogs under control.
On the subject of dogs, they are more than welcome here and your best friend will no doubt make new friends, as ours did, while you are there. The pubs in RHB all seem to be dog friendly, especially the Bay Hotel. There’s not really anywhere on the site where you can ‘let them off’ for a run around off lead, but there was a dog walk a few minutes walk away from the site.
The great location, facilities, friendly staff and overall laid back and relaxing atmosphere of this site make it one of the best I’ve been to in a while. I’d definitely recommend this site to anyone, especially if you have a dog.
We’re planning on going back again, soon, and maybe staying in one of their static caravans that they have for hire.

Jekyll and Hyde of a campsite! We visited this site for 4 nights from Wednesday to Sunday. Arriving on the Wednesday we had a good choice of pitches to choose from and picked a spot with fantastic views and plenty of space!
The first 2 nights we found the site really peaceful and stress free with ample showers and toilets of a very good standard! As the weekend arrived though the site shows its other side! Cramming far too many tents on to the main field which also results in very busy toilet blocks! We will return to this site but only during the week!
The Victoria hotel at the top of robin hoods bay is one to avoid! beautiful views but we received very poor service when we ordered food and the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional.
Overall though we had a great time and the site is a perfect location for visiting places in the area.
