Just returned from a 4 night stay on Middlewood. Very good site. Clean toilet/shower block. PLENTY of hot water at all times of the day. Ample pot wash facilities, again with plenty of hot water. Most of the sites 3 main camping fields are virtually flat. Staff helpful but un-intrusive,warden did a quick patrol of the site several times a day so things ran smoothly. Great for families as everything went quiet by 11pm. 10 mins walk to village shop for bread, milk, bacon etc (there isn't a shop on site tho) and 20 mins walk down a public footpath to Robin Hoods Bay. Some lovely walks off site, wore both my hubby & my dog out. Highly recommended, we will be returning.

This was our first camping trip, we would recommend this site for other tent users. On arrival we were asked. We were shown to our pitch and although there were only a couple of other tents in our field we were quite pleased as it was very quiet compared to the next field which was busy. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent hot water and plenty toilet paper.Only had to queue for a shower once and considering the site was busy I thought that was very reasonable.Had a meal in the local pub which was enjoyable.
The only down side was the atrocious weather, gales and torrential rain for two out of the three nights obviously down to nature and not the site. Will definitely be back.

We stayed overnight here at this very busy camp site.We could not pre book and had to turn up on 1st come 1st serve basis, which did not present a problem, as space allocated, but I found that stressful on the long drive up. As it was so busy, there were long queues for showers, toilets and washing up sinks, so be prepared to wait at peak times.
The place was very well managed and clean, despite also running a dairy farm.
Although very busy it was surprisingly quiet at night
The location is beautiful and easy access for Robin Hoods Bay and fossil hunting at Boggle Hole.
Be prepared to take lots of cash with you as no cash point and few shops take cards. Also the 1 and only fish and chip shop is both pricey and hugely busy, 1/2 hour queue.
Kids enjoyed the small adventure playground and suited all ages.
Would definitely go again as provided easy access to Scarborough (went to watch amazing firework display) and Whitby.

This is our second stay at Middlewood Farm and its excellent location. We arrived early on the Friday and after booking in were met at the camping field by the warden and taken to our pitch. There was no option to choose your pitch and all was a bit regimented. However the site has a good toilet and shower block, but it was very busy, especially for the ladies. The showers were free and lots of hot water. There is a walk down to Robin Hoods Bay that takes about 20 minutes. There the kids loved the sweet shops. There is also a fish and chip shop and a few pubs.
On the Saturday we hired same bikes from Hawser and cycled part of the old railway line. This was great fun but you will need to expect quite a few hills. On the ride stopped for lunch at Flyingthorpe Hall. Excellent food and cakes, all home made. Overall an excellent weekend.

On arrival we booked into reception which seemed very efficient, however when told that we would be shown our pitch on the top field by the warden and he didn't turn up after 10 minutes so we selected our own pitch at the side of the field. Later as we saw the field filling up with rows of cars and tents we were told by the warden that we should not have pitched there but he let us stay. We were glad that we did when by teatime the field was crammed with cars and tents that were so close that guy lines were crossing. At £17 per night we had hoped for more facilities ie. Toilets/showers and bins were not in this field - only a tap for water at the entrance. It was a good five minute walk to the toilet/shower block (in the next field) and people were queuing from our field and two other fields to use facilities which were totally inadequate considering the number of campers - our field alone was packed to the brim we estimated around 100 tents.
On the upside the food van (Great Griddler) was good, friendly, efficient and reasonably priced. The walk to Robin Hoods Bay was lovely and the town and beach welcoming and picturesque. We liked the pubs and cafe here and in Fylingthorpe although beer prices were steep.

My husband, teenage daughter and I have just returned from a few days camping and had a great time. The campsite itself has good facilities, toilets and showers always clean, a shame that we was probably pitched the most furthest away from them. As you are given your pitch by the wardens had no reference where to stay and came back from days out to find tents pitched quite close to say that there were lots of other space in the field.
Everything else about the campsite was perfect and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The campsite is in a great location and we enjoyed many evenings walking down and spending time in robin hoods bay. Would recommend visiting Whitby, Scarborough and Sansend great beaches although understandably dogs not allowed on some. Would recommend the forest walk from Sansend but only open on Saturdays Sundays and Wednesdays where there is a small castle ruins to look around but be careful to keep your bearings as we ended up lost in the forest.
Its worth finding out when high and low tide is as most of the time we didn't have much beach to walk on when going to the coast. Went to boggle hole from campsite LOTS of steps to get to it so not suitable for disabled/ push chairs and tide was in when we got there so wasn't really worth staying.
Overall a great break, had fun exploring the beaches and local towns, would highly recommend and will hopefully return in the future.

This site is in a very good position, play area for the kids, nice walks to Whitby and Robin Hoods bay. The site facilities are very good and kept spotless. The wardens cram the tents so close together that we had our guy line touching the tents on both sides, no privacy.

Really good site, spent a week and a half there.
Good clean showers and pot washing facilities, even at the weekends when the site gets really busy.
A separate family wash room has a baby bath in it so no need to transport this up yourself.
No problems with noise - everyone stuck to the quiet after 11pm rule.
Local pub in the village has a separate family room and play area, everyone very friendly.
Good location - Robin Hoods Bay walkable, Whitby is close by plus many more coastal villages and the moors in easy distance.
Very relaxing and enjoyable holiday, would recommend this site.

Just returned from 4 days spent at this wonderful campsite. Staff very friendly upon booking in at reception with a friendly warden to help you choose you pitch. Clean toilet facilities without having to queue. 10 mins walk from Robin hood bay via a track. Not flat, so may be a problem for those with walking difficulties or buggies. Only niggle was that there is a sign in reception saying no groups. We had a large school party near to us for a few nights and another group with military ridge tents for another night!
Overall a great stay.

Only stayed for 1 night in the small camping field near Reception and thought £15 was expensive for a non-electric pitch. Found a level pitch near the wire fence. Beautiful location and enjoyed the walk to Robin Hood's Bay. The toilet facilities were good but not as spotlessly clean as I would expect for a 5 star park (dust on the windowsills). Ate at the local pub but didn't feel it had any atmosphere and the food was mediocre.
