We have just come back from a totally relaxing and happy holiday camping at this site.
We had a tent pitch with an EHU close to the new toilet/shower block - I had mentioned that we had quite a large tent and had no problems with pitching and the ground was quite level. The only time we found that we had to queue for showers or to go to the toilet was during the busy weekend when they opened two extra short-stay fields. Perhaps, with the site being so popular they could look at either extending the shower/toilet block(s)they have already or provide another block. Also, without wishing to sound too negative, some clearer marking of the EHU pitches might stop inconsiderate people pitching within three feet of us, thankfully they didn't stay long. Staff were always friendly and helpful, but appeared very busy due to the site being very popular.
The location was wonderful, it was a short walk into Robin Hood's Bay, which is one of the prettiest coastal villages we have been to. It is ideal for walking and exploring. There are plenty of picturesque villages to explore inland around the Yorkshire Moors, in fact we could have done with more time.
The 'Griddler' take-away on-site was good and reasonable, especially for a cooked breakfast at the weekends. We found that the nearest supermarket was in Whitby (Co-op), which we used quite a bit in passing, although there is a shop in the village which was in walking distance. There was an excellent fish & chip shop down in the Bay.
All in all, we thought it was a great place to take a camping holiday and are hoping to return next season.

Stayed with friends during August bank holiday. We arrived with our tent on Thurs eve. We live about an hour away so were happy to pay for an extra night and pitch the night before to actually arrive on the Fri night. This was before we knew the cost was £24.50 per night for tent, 2 adults, 2 small children and a dog.
The site was lovely, would not have wanted to stay in the big fields to the right of the entrance but ours on the left was fab. Toilets and showers dated but very clean and more than happy with those. Overall impression is fantastic location - walk to Robin Hoods Bay is 15 mins with young children, there's Whitby and all the beautiful Heritage Coast beaches if that's what you like. The drive across the North York Moors is breathtaking. Take bikes as the site is next to a national cycleway and great for flat biking with kids. Ice packs - the site charge 30p per pack and will not freeze yours therefore you can only take what they will give you which is 2 per tent per day and £1 deposit. The village store and post office is well stocked and friendly; do spend some money there. You will not get a better location and the site is fab but it is expensive

Have just returned from this site, after cutting short by one night our stay. On the upper field, there was a lack of space, and we appeared to draw the shortest of straws by having pitch no 7, right next to the play area. We have 2 children aged 11 and 9, so they really enjoyed the play area. The cost of the stay also was quite steep, 27 pounds for 2 adults and 3 children ( friend staying for 1 night), with no on site shop and a shower block that could use a few more cleaning visits per day. What was most disappointing was the fact that this site is in a fantastic part of the country, with easy access by foot to robin hood's bay, and a 5- 10 minute car journey to Whitby.

My first time camping and I choose this site based on the reviews I had read and the information / pics available on the website. My partner and I arrived on Wednesday (before the bank holiday weekend) and there was plenty of space, but by Saturday morning the site was completely full. I would recommend this camp site especially to first time campers, like ourselves. Good facilities, i.e clean toilets, free hot showers and hairdryers, covered pot washing area, all on a flat field. Just 10 mins walk away is a small shop (open until 7pm), a pub and a butchers/bakers that doubles as a takeaway at night serving pizza's and burgers (I can recommend the pizza's) They also deliver! Can't comment on the laundry facilities that are available as we didn't need to use them. It was really windy when we arrived and thought the tent was going to take off like a kite, but found fellow campers more than willing to lend a hand. There is a notice up on the site asking that there is no noise after 11pm and stating that no cars or taxis are allowed on the site after this time. I half expected that peole wouldn't take notice of this, but they did. By 11.30pm there was almost silence - could hear a few people snoring and the odd cow or sheep from the next field, but apart from that it was quiet. We orginally paid for 3 nights but we liked it so much we stayed for an extra night. Only critism really is that when the site is full there are big queues for the toilets, showers and washing area, but I suppose this is only to be expected so close to the bank holiday. Overall it was very enjoyable and we would certainly go again.

This is a fantastic site, excellent facilities, good play area for your little rascals. A 15 Min's walk across public footpaths through a couple of fields. This will take you into the bottom of robin-hoods bay were there is excellent public houses and a fish and chip takeaway.

The staff are friendly and the situation is spot on, there is a but though. We were placed next to the new toilet block which was very noisy, people just had no consideration for others which isnt the campsites fault.
The men's showers were cold some days and it got very busy a weekends, I think they need more facilities if they are going to cram as many people in.
The site is a short walk to Robin hoods bay (which is lovely)but it is for the healthy ish of you.
The play area kept my 6 year old happy
We paid extra as they said our tent was extra large its a vango diablo didnt get any extra space, had a hook up, thought the pitches where small if you wanted electric

First class site for our first camping experience. Communication with and help from site staff excellent, located to a pitch in the "square field" which was perfect, not crowded in and enough room for the children to play without disturbing others. Arrived on a Thurs and the site was busy, certainly filled up by the weekend, which inevitably led to some queues in the shower/toilet block. Maybe another block is needed long term. Washing up area was ideally situated, again got a little busy but so what if you have to wash up later. Dustbin in this area would be good as small minority of people thought to leave their plate scrapings / rubbish either in the sink on on the drainers.! Play area good, could always be bigger or another one in the other field area. Ideal location for the beach, Griddler was good value for money, Fylingdales Inn in the village excellent on all counts. Village store has everything you need. This site is 98%, so close to perfect, this is by far not the fault of the owners, the site is so good everybody goes there which puts the extra demand on the facilities. We shall certainly be back.

I haven't been camping since 2001, and decided that, as my eldest son is now four years old, that I'd see whether he liked it, and after reading a number of reviews, decided this campsite would be a good choice.
The campsite is in an excellent location - a mere ten minute walk into Robin Hoods Bay down a well marked path (steep in places with some stiles and gates).
It is a large campsite, with separate areas for caravans and tents. The facilities are excellent with two large shower and toilet blocks. There is also an "adventure play area" that was proved to be very popular with children of all ages.
The best aspect though was that it was relatively quiet - no noisy neighbours, perhaps helped by the fact that there is no bar on site. It must have been one of the earliest nights I'd had in many months!
The only (slight) criticism that I have is that, due to it's popularity, I had to queue for about 30 minutes at reception to get booked in. However, the manager was very courteous when checking in.
The site doesn't take advance bookings for tents, so I'd advise you to get there early if you want to be assured of a pitch.

We booked this site for a long weekend away and it lived up to our expectations, it is great to use as a base for Whitby,Scarborough and Heartbeat country. It is well signposted from the main A168 road though the road to it is quite steep (1 in 4) and narrow in places so take care on you way down. The toilets on site are immaculate and although there is no shop there is one only a 5 minute walk away in Fylingthorpe which has a good selection and is also the local post office, there is a catering van that visits the site over weekends that does a good selection of food till around 8.30pm and is also open for breakfast for those who don't want to cook. There is a lovely walk through to Robin Hoods Bay near to the site which will take you around 10 minutes although it is not really suitable for people with walking difficulties or those needing a motorised buggy. All in all it is a great place to visit and close to the main attractions in the area.

You need to have the bottle to turn up and hope for space, as they don't take bookings for tents, but it is well worth it if you manage to get on. Don't leave it to a Saturday morning to go, as you will probably be out of luck. We got there on a Friday evening before 7 and it was okay, but filled up by the end of Friday night. The tent field is nice and flat with good soft ground and, even though it rained, there was no standing water and the slight bit of mud was only what you should expect pitching on a grassy field - nothing worse and soon dried out the next day when we had glorious weather. The lack of on-site shop is made up for by the Spar in the village just 5 minutes away. The toilet a shower facilities are excellent. There's a nice play area and a lovely walk down into Robin Hood's Bay with a great chippy as you get into the town. It's a good walkers' paradise, with plenty of options to choose from. All in all, one we will definitely return to.
