Visited for a one night break on the first weekend of the season.
Followed directions from the web site and although winding and very steep in parts with some narrow roads access was not a problem.
Our Golf GT TDI pulling our Pageant Bordeaux made it back up the big hill with ease.
Arrived around 1pm and found reception to be very helpful and friendly.Directed to pitch seven which was located close to the shower block, large hard standing with EHU.Very quiet with only a sprinkling of caravans and motor homes on site
Although there were none on site this weekend there are two large areas set aside for tents some with EHU imagine it being very busy when full.
Shower block were spotless if a little cold, plenty of water and waste points scattered around the site. Also another block situated next to reception
Fifteen minute stroll into Robin Hoods bay with beautiful views along the way.
Village Pub, store and butchers/ bakers five mins from the site.
Ideal location for exploring the N Yorks moors and coast
If you are looking for a clean, picturesque and friendly site away from the touristy hustle and bustle of Whitby give this a go.
Hard to believe that two weeks after what seems like an age of several inches of snow we were sat eating breakfast outside the van in glorious sunshine.

Stayed here for 3 nights over the New Year and was the best New Year we have ever had! Stayed in a 2 bed static right next to the play area - the kids loved it. We were worried about being cold (especially with all the snow) but no fear - the warm air heaters in every room meant that all rooms were warm. Caravan was spotlessly clean and was only built in 2006 so nice and modern.
Staff in reception very friendly.
The Fylingdale pub gave us a lovely warm welcome on News Year day even though we traipsed in in our muddy boots and ski gear!
Walk down to Robin Hoods Bay from the site is lovely and only took about 10 mins but beware - it is muddy at this time of year as you go across the fields(fine if wearing proper attire!)
Good location for getting to Whitby and Scarborough.
Great idea for multiple groups or families - and very reasonable compared with the other New Year options out there (£65 per night). Would definitely recommend. Would have booked again for this year but Hubby wants to go somewhere more exotic for his 40th!

Stayed here a week and enjoyed the rural location very much. The site is part of a working farm and within a mile of the beach at Robin Hoods Bay which you can access from a footpath directly from the camping area The warden (Fred) was very helpful getting us to the pitch. Facilities are good with a nice clean shower block and you can hire a private bathroom. The pitches are especially hard so getting even rock pegs into the ground for your awning is a challenge. The local area is full of things to do and see, local produce is available nearby the farm Children are well catered for with a good playground and lots of open space there are pubs close by that do good food so you are spoilt for choice. A campsite that is worth a second visit and prices are reasonable too

Spent 5 nights at this site and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.Toilets clean & showers hot,5 mins is enough time if you are organised. As already mentioned it`s a 10min walk through the woods into Robin Hoods bay which is quaint and boasts 3 cracking little dog friendly pubs,2 of which sell old peculiar.Nectar.There`s also a chippie and several other shops for groceries etc. Some lovely coastal walks along the cliff tops.I would definitely go back to this site again as it`s also very handy for Whitby.

Big site with decent, clean facilities. No shop on site but there is a village shop about 10 mins walk away.
We went for 1 night on a Saturday and the site was pretty full. The big open fields were well packed with tents so you are close to each other. So don't expect much privacy. Plus snoring at night from adjacent tents was irritating.
Nice walk down to Robin Hood's Bay but although someone said it's unsuitable for prams, you could do it (as we did) with a stroller but it does involve lifting the thing over the stiles.
Not sure we'd visit this one again - we prefer pitches to be more spaced out and preferably with some green cover (i.E. Hedge or bushes) in between.

Just visited this camp. This weekend for one night.
Very nice camp, polite and friendly staff, went in to booking, and took us straight to our pitch,
Toilet and shower blocks were clean as was the washing up area,
The only disappointing thing was the walk to the beach, it said on the web site, that it was a 10 mins walk through a field, well I think it was a bit longer than 10 mins and not suitable for a prams
Nevertheless we managed and we had a lovely stay, and would consider going again

This is a great site, with a great view. Very clean facilities, good provision of kettles and microwaves, and all toilets and showers kept very clean. The site was quite full, but plenty of space. Children playing a lot in quieter field where we were camping - had to fend them off a bit and discourage football in our space! Friendly staff.
A good walk down (I mean back!) from shops and beach, so outings need to be planned. A great visit here for 2 of us. Thanks

This is an excellent camp site - if you read this review don't bother looking anywhere else; the staff, the location, the facilities are all great!
We arrived on a Friday at around 3pm and got a pitch in the top field without any problems. We were directed to our pitch by the friendly warden and with our super (put you up in 5 mins) tent we were ready to explore.
You can access Robin Hoods Bay by a footpath, its about a 10 min walk through fields and woods - its great fun coming back after a few beers in the dark (remember to take your torches.)
All in all we had a great time and will definitely go back.

I spent over 2 hours ringing round campsites to book for the bank holiday last week - all were full. I rang this site and they told me they didn't take bookings for tents without electric and to just turn up. Told it was a min of 3 nights stay too. Advice excellent and staff helpful. They said we should arrive as early as poss on Friday to get a pitch as it would be full by the end of the day. We were camping with friends who went in the morning (ahead of us as we were working). They paid for our pitch and left space for us so we could set up camp next to our friends when we got there late afternoon (and the site already had the 'Sorry Full' sign up. It was very very busy.
Everyone was well behaved and kept to the 11pm quite rule.
We had a great enjoyable weekend and walked through a woody area / footpath to Robin Hoods Bay, which was very nice.
Washing up area under cover and clean etc. Waste area - only one near reception (could do with one at the back of the toilet block).
There were queues for the showers but this was expected considering it was Bank hol w.End. The showers were free and hot and ran for 5 mins at a time. The block was nice and clean and well looked after - only issue was there were only 5 mirrors and one double socket for your own dryer / straighteners. This did cause problems. Need more mirrors and definitely more plugs between ALL mirrors Please?!
I would definitely recommend this site and we would use again.

Really enjoyed the stay at Middlewood Farm with my daughter. We stayed in a tent in the family field & the 11pm deadline for quiet time was adhered to. We had a few trips down to Robin Hoods Bay using the farmers field with the cows in (the cows are not scary as mentioned in previous reviews, they don't even bother looking up as you walk past), just remember to take a torch if you are coming back late otherwise you may find yourself skidding in a cow pat)
The staff are really friendly & helpful. The shower block, toilets etc were good.
Would also recommend a visit to the Fylingdales Pub in the village, especially if you are vegetarian as they do lovely meals & the staff are really friendly.
