Our first family camping holiday booked last minute, Site was great, no problems at all facilities clean, ideal location for Whitby and Scarborough with lovely walk to robin hoods bay, play ground is basic but kids loved it. Staff helpful and regular warden drive-by's through the site, definitely use the site again.

Situated just a 10-15 min walk from the picturesque Robin Hood's Bay, this campsite is in a great location. The site is divided into two fields, the main field and the family field near to reception. We were sited in the family field which has some electric hook-ups and is the smaller of the two. Booking was straight forward (£25 deposit) and we were allocated our pitch number on arrival. The field was flat and tidy and the toilet block, for the most part, was clean. The family field also includes a small kids play area.
One irritation with regard to the toilets is that boys will not lift the toilet seat when standing up using the toilet. This means the next user has to wipe the seat prior to sitting down. Perhaps fathers should educate their sons in toilet seat etiquette. Unfortunately, this seems to happen at every site I have been to where there are young children present.
The washing up area only had three sinks and so sometimes there was a queue. Perhaps families eat at similar times and then need to wash up soon afterwards??
This is a working farm and so expect some noise from machinery and animals.
It's an ideal base for exploring the North Yorkshire coast and the nearby towns of Whitby and Scarborough.
There was no on-site shop but a van came round the site every day selling some basic food items - ok if you were stuck. However, then nearest shop was in Robin Hood's bay village. Apart from that it was Sainsburys on the way in to Whitby.
By comparison with average campsite prices, taking into account the on-site facilities, this ranks as on the expensive side at £31 per day for July-Aug period.

Booked for 3 nights & only stayed 2. Would've left earlier if the barrier wasn't in lockdown.
On arrival we found the staff unhelpful and a bit miserable. We were given a list of things we weren't allowed to do !
The tents were way too close together.
Not sure how many toilet block there were, but there wasn't enough for the amount of people they crammed on to the site.
Only positive is the proximity to robin hoods bay.

Fantastic site! Highly recommend. Immaculate. Firstly arriving were so friendly and shown us around site. We were in 'top field' pitch 41. Toilets and showers were really clean and well looked after. Seen cleaners in there quite often over our 3 night stay so were getting cleaned well. Got to keep noise down to a minimum after 11 pm which is great if you have children with you. There is a warden who patrols the site which I thought was pretty good.
The site itself is situated really well. We have a 2 n half year old girl who loves her farm yard animals and to walk to Robin hoods bay we had to walk through the fields where the cows where n she loved it. After the cow field it takes you to a little forest which has beautiful scenery! Took around 10mins to walk to the beach. Back to the site, for us, it was flawless. Very tidy and well kept. Very friendly. Very clean and nicely priced! What more could you want!?

Visited midweek and the site was fairly busy so don't think we'd like to pay it a weekend visit! Positives: Great location, just a short walk into the village where there is a local dog friendly pub - Flyingdales Inn (which sold the most amazing burger!) and a short walk to the beach and Robin Hood's Bay which is absolutely stunning, you could have been in a greek fishing village as the weather was amazing. Hairdryer in the ladies and also a couple of sockets for those wanting to use straighteners!
Negatives: As this was only our second ever campsite and it was bigger than the first one we camped at, we just felt like a number and it didn't feel as friendly and felt as though there were laminated rules everywhere you looked which would suggest there could be regular issues that need addressed by all these rules. 5 minute window of opportunity in the shower and it won't go on again, a bit annoying when you have a mop of hair to wash!

Fantastic time, wish we'd had time to stay longer, hopefully we'll get time to visit again soon.
Working Farm but you'd never know it, nice a peaceful site close to Robin Hood Bay.
Local village has great Pub with fantastic Food and a must is a stop at the local butchers for fresh local produce.
Showers and other facilities were spotless, endless Hot water so do delay in showering for us late risers.
Many thanks

Arrived back today after a 2 night stay at Middlewood Farm with our 5yr old daughter and our dog. Great little site. Lovely views and some decent walks (very steep hills though!). Robin Hood bay is a good walking distance but its only a 10-15min drive into Whitby and there are also buses to and from the village where the camp is. There is a very small play area on one field of the site but we were placed in the field across the lane but our little one didn't seem to mind too much. Toilets and showers good standard, a bit muddy at times but this was always cleared up by the next visit to the loo! Very reasonably priced food van on site open for breakfast and on an evening. Dog friendly however a tiny gripe we had was there are notices asking to pick dog mess up, obviously any responsible owner does, but on the walk to Robin Hoods bay which is a nature track there are no bins to put the waste in. Not sure if this is Middlewood Farm's issue or a local council one but bins would be a help! That is the only fault we had which is extremely minor so we would not hesitate to visit this site again.

Lovely site but on the walk back from Robin Hoods Bay - beware of the bull!
We spent a lovely few days there, lovely walks along an old railway line in either direction, along the coast and a 10 minute walk accross the fields to Robin Hoods Bay. The path is a good path until you reach the wood, not suitable for wheelchairs users unless you have someone very strong to push you backup, prams and pushchairs likewise.
On our last walk back the cattle (which had been in a joining fields) were in the field containing the footpath. Although the gates between the fields had been open, this was the first time they were so close, they didn't seem bothered by us with our dog. All was well until we realised the bull was there - in the middle of all his 'ladies'! Very, very scary.

Stayed on the site just for two nights in a caravan with my parents in the motor home. It was a very nice site with clean and tidy toilets and shower block. Close enough to walk to Robins Hood Bay. Will definitely stay on this site again. If I had to be picky the only negative would be a bin at the washing up area would be useful and to let everyone know a milkman comes round the site in the morning (well I think I saw one)

Lovely week on the North Yorkshire moors! The site is wonderfully situated with easy, well marked walk to beach and the delightful Robin Hoods Bay, good pubs and reasonably well stocked shops. I would go back, but I would definitely go for one of the electric pitches - flatter and better defined space. In the central field, we were on a slight slope - not horrid, but noticeable - and more crowded than I like.
The toilet block was generally adequate and the owners cannot be held responsible for the selfish and crude behaviour of some of the campers (the silver handle on the side of the tank is there for a purpose - learn it before you go out in public!). I would suggest that the wash up area needs a bin since some people apparently feel it's okay to leave their food scraps in the bottom of the sink for the next camper's enjoyment. A third toilet/shower block for use when the top and square fields are in use would be nice, but it was only on the very crowded bank holiday weekend that there were any real issues.
The site has a small part time caff doing breakfast and tea, and a van with milk, bread, eggs, etc that comes through once or twice in the mornings - very convenient. Overall, a nice, convenient site for exploring this area.
