Arrived here the last week of July for a few days camping. I was a little worried at how crowded it was when the warden escorted us through the field, but suitably relieved when we were placed on the top field.

However, things seemed to go down from there. We were just feet from other tents, placed in straight lines in the first part of the field, despite the rest of the huge field being completely empty. Any space between tents was lost when the 'Little Englanders' set up their 'garden fences' of windbreaks to mark their territory.

The 11pm silence was enforced, but sadly any morning one wasn't. We were woken at 5am by a large group of young campers in two huge tents with noise.

The toilet block looked nice but sadly couldn't cope with the huge amount of tents and people staying. There was a patch of mud on a toilet wall which wasn't cleaned for two days. Just three urinals, half a dozen sinks and showers just wasn't enough for the hundreds of people on the three fields. My missus had to wait about an hour in a queue three deep for the showers. Surprisingly the men's toilet block on the farm was much quieter and cleaner.

Overall this is a potentially nice site, with a lovely ten minute walk to the beach and Robin Hood's Bay, but I felt like the owner was shoehorning too many people onto it, causing overcrowding. If you visit before you book don't be fooled into thinking that the camp ground is just the area in the farm complex, the main site is further down the road, past the farm, on a track on your right.

Just came back from a very enjoyable visit to this site. I haven't been camping for 20 years, after a bad experience of flooding in a 1 man tent, which was shared between 3 (put me off camping completely). Credit crunch and my husband studying for a year has meant we had to be more economical when planning a weekend without the kids.
This site is ideal for couples and families, in fact we're thinking of returning next week with the kids. Toilet and shower facilities are fine. This weekend was extremely busy (we were 2nd to last to get a pitch), but even with such a high volume of people the facilities were acceptable.
There's a van that sells breakfast and meals in the evening. So it was a welcome treat and relief not to have to start cooking in the morning and just ordering a delicious bacon sandwich instead.
The walk down to Robin Hoods Bay was lovely, but could be a bit difficult in bad weather, it's quite steep in areas. I don't know if it was a concious decision by the owners or not, but on this visit we were more than happy to be pitched in the quieter far field, rather than in the hustle and bustle of the first field, which seemed full of big families.
The pub in the nearby village is also really good for families, it has a good enclosed play area. There is a 2 night minimum stay, which we didn't realise, but that suited us anyway. On our second night there was a strange noise, like chanting coming from over the fields, it went on for probably an hour, but they very politely stopped at 11pm! It provided a great source of amusement, with fellow campers guessing what it could be - we guessed it could be anything from girl guides to pagans or witches and wizards playing quiddich!
The owners were informative, friendly and professional - we'll definitely be visiting again!

Very friendly, we received a very friendly welcome and reception

Seems miles away from all but within a short walk is the village, Robin Hoods Bay the beach and the Woods

Superb second to none, really clean shower block, live radio piped etc. Facilities but you dont spend your whole stay in the shower so could have been a bit more price friendly we thought

Very Expensive compared to other sites in the immediate vicinity

Lots of midgies at tea time onwards so we did not go out of the tent after about 8-8.30 pm!despite lots of repellent bbq smoke etc.

Field we camped in was ok but we would not have camped in the field with the cows - to us it was smelling badly

May visit again at some point? definitely! a good site but in our opinion overpriced and too near the woodland to be bitten if you are susceptible to such bites etc.

To sum up. A good base with everything minutes away. Ps the bay pub robin hoods bay very good and dog friendly++

Just got back from a weekend at this lovely site I will get the negatives out of the way first. The kids play area is far too small for the amount of people using the site and you cant pre book if you want a non electric pitch. Also the site has no shop, the local shop is only a short walk away though but be warned it closes at 7.

On the plus side staff were very helpful and friendly we got booked in fast and got a plot close to the kids play area our pitch was nice and level. Tents are however placed very close together this didnt bother us but worth knowing before you go, we couldnt believe how many tent they fit in the field baring this in mind it was never very noisy and the site was very clean all of the time and we never had to wait to use the showers or toilets.

The showers had constant hot water which was great.

The site has a laundry but we didnt ues it,the pot wash is out side but under cover and well lit as are the toilets.

We went for a walk to robinhoods bay on fri afternoon its a lovely walk down to the beach that took about 30 mins with my 1 year old on foot (dont think the mud path would be very good with a pram)

We went in to Whitby for the afternoon on saturday took the kids on the donkeys and bought a net and cought some crabs, it only takes 10 mins to get there and there is a big coop next to the train station if you need to stock up your cool box.

We had a nice weekend here the only thing that would put me off coming back is not being able to pre book? its a long way to come to find out its full.

We liked this site so much we're going back in a few weeks.

We paid for a private bathroom, but to be honest we were closer to the communal bathroom and I used that as the showers were more powerful and were really quiet when we were there mid week. Nice clean and modern, if like me bathroom facilities are important. Still, if the site is busy then the private bathrooms would be more useful.

The pitches were roomy, we had an electric hook up pitch on the touring field and these can be booked in advance.

The site has some lovely views and is close to Flyingthorpe village, a 5 minute walk away. And I have to say I would happily live in that village! People were so friendly. Robin Hoods bay is about 15 minute walk through some fields, but be warned it had rained the day we went that route and it was deep mud part of the way, not an easy walk if you have any mobility problems.

We found the longer walk through the village and along the main road to be better, not as steep and no cow pats, not too much traffic for a main road either. The views over Robin Hood's Bay are stunning and theres a great bear garden which overlooks it in one pub (can't remember the name but you'll easily spot it). Had tea there one night and the food was fantastic.

From there you can walk down into the village of Robin Hoods Bay, but beware the main road down to it is steep and I could only face it once, the people that live and work in this tiny village must have strong legs!

There is no site shop which was a shame as on the first night we found we had fogotten quite a few items, but the village shop isn't far, just be warned it shuts about 7pm, so don't leave it too late as we did. There is a van on site that cooks meals, and their menu was quite impressive, though we cooked for ourselves.

The site is about 6 miles from whitby and 12 miles from Scarbrough and we visited both.

Great site overall, and I'm really looking forward to going back.

A lovely family site and a pleasant 15 minute walk through the fields to Robin Hoods Bay. The facilites are modern and clean, the only down side is you cant book to go on the site and if your travelling a long way you might be disappointed.

An excellent site in a beautiful area. Lovely walk down to the beach, close enough to walk to local shops. The ground was beautifully soft for pegging out and we were made welcome at the site. The facilities were first class! Warm, clean and adequate for the site. Will definitely be returning.

We visited on a quiet weekend, which was a joy. Staff were very helpful on arrival and the warden was very keen to help. Robin Hoods Bay was a nice fifteen minute walk away. The site was very child friendly with a good play area. The amenities were some of the best we have seen, extremely clean at all times.

We will definitely be returning to this excellent site.

This is the second time to this site, very friendly, toilet blocks clean, always had hot water. Tent pitches on nice level field. We went mid week Tuesday to Friday the site was quiet but it does get busy at weekends. Nice 10 min walk down to Robin Hoods Bay.

There is a small shop up the hill in the village, or into Whitby to the Co-op & Fortune's kippers - great on the BBQ!

A great base for exploring the surrounding area.

We first stayed here in May 2007 and soon returned in the September.

As a professional photographer it was perfectly placed for what we wanted in terms of access to Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby and Scarsdale.

Staff were always friendly, camping neighbours were friendly and the village pub Fylingdale Arms was amazing. The food in here is nothing short of superb!

The 10 minute walk to Robin Hood's Bay, although physical, is well worth it. It drops you off right in the village centre, close to the chippy, Bay Hotel and all the shops.

Facilities were spot on, toilets and shower blocks always clean, washing up area tidy and information point always stocked! My only gripes are lack of site shop, but its not a long walk into the village or the 10 minute drive to Co-Op in Whitby and it can be a bit expensive at peak times, but Im not complaining as the experience is worth the extra,

We will 100% be going back again.
