Just got back from a great weekend here. Staff were welcoming and not too in your face. We were on the field next to the reception, which was great a mix of VDubs, Bongos, tents & couple of Hymers. We had a grass electric hook up, plenty of space for our Bongo and well sheltered spot just next to park which was great for our kiddie winkle. She loved it being here due to the farm rabbits that run free.
The no noise after 11pm was adhered to and we found this field very family friendly. The walk down to the Bay is great and our four year old didn't find it too hard going.
The toilets are clean and didn't have to queue for the showers even though it was busy due to the good weather. I agree with previous reviews though that the showers have no temperature control so it would have been too hot for my little girl, but there is a bathroom you can hire.
Didn't use the griddler take away van so can't comment on its food, but saw plenty of people using it.
Would definitely recommend this site if like us you like laid back, chilled out sites.
Would comment that there isn't much in the way of shops in Robin Hoods Bay, so might be worth a food/wine trip prior to arriving!

We thought that this was an ideal site with generous pitches, friendly and efficient staff and excellent ablutions. The short walk to Robin Hood's Bay and the surrounding countryside was lovely, and local supplies were available within walking distance.
I would highly recommend Middlewood Farm.
We cut through minor roads rather than go through Whitby to get to the site and almost didn't make it up some of the 1 in 3 slopes- so it might be better to take the longer, flatter route if you are towing.

I wanted a quick weekend away from Sheffield and only phoned up on the Thursday and told just turn up. Very friendly site. Flat. Good showers. Burger Van on site for grub. Excellent pub in village. Easy walk though fields to Robin Hoods bay - brings you out in middle of RHB village just 50 yds from sea front. National Cycle track on old railway line just behind site. Able to cycle to Whitby or Scarborough via this -
Pleased with price too just £8 a night. - made difference to the £25 a night at Lake District. Will definitely use again for quick weekends away.

A good site in a good area. Easy walking to Robin Hoods Bay, by road or across the cliffs.
Local pub serving good pub grub.
Disused railway line 200 yards away which goes to Whitby one way and Scarborough the other.
The site has clean modern facilities with ample toilets and showers.
The site only re-opened on 1st March and not all the facilities were available, Drinking water taps around the site still isolated, pot washing area also isolated I expect this to be for frost protection, but because of this some, thoughtless people were washing their dirty pots in the wash basins, which isn't a problem, but when they leave the basins with food scraps in the plug hole and greasy slime around the bowl that is.
Finally no heating in the toilet / shower block so get dry quick if you plan on going before the summer sun kicks in.
All in all a good site and one we consider again when visiting that part of the world.

We usually pay a lot less for camping - it's really the location which is highest on our priorities rather than facilities. To pitch for one night here cost us £15.50 but you do get what you pay for. The site seemed well organised and the facilities were excellent (not a spider in sight!) We stayed in the field with the hot food takeaway van. Plenty of toilets, showers, handbasins, and also a handbasin in separate cubicle which was handy for a quick strip wash. There's a spacious wash-up area with 4-5 sinks with hot water and draining area. Well spaced pitches with hard standing and hook up. Great location with lovely views and plenty of public footpaths (which were very handy as no reception for our tv!). 5 mins walk to local pub, although we carried on another 15-20mins walk to Robin Hood's Bay (there is a quicker way but we preferred the less muddy, easier route by the road / pavement) All the pubs in RHB are worth a visit (separate eating area / kids room at Victoria Hotel - lovely food - but large portions, especially bloating between pints!)
Despite the half dozen hills in the last few miles from Scarborough to Fylingthorpe, (our poor old vw almost gave up!), we will be returning. By the way -(calling all vw campers)- if also visiting Whitby, I would recommend taking the steady route -the earlier signposted right turn off that main road - towards the Abbey and parking in the Whitby Abbey car park.

We had a lovely long weekend at Middlewood Farm. I had called beforehand to double check the cost and disabled facilities, and when I went along to reception to pay, I also received the key to the disabled toilet (there is a £10 refundable deposit against the loss of the key).
Our young dog was not impressed at having to stay on her lead all weekend, but the rule is completely understandable. Although our dog is happy to stay in the vicinity of our tent, other campsites we have visited have often had loose dogs investigating visitors (and their meals) with owners nowhere to be seen, so the rule seems only sensible.
We were able to pitch up fairly close to the toilets, without being so close as to be disturbed by other visitors using the facilities, and the campsite is on pretty level ground, so using my wheelchair on site was easily done. The disabled facilities were excellent - a lovely power shower, two basins, a toilet and a hair dryer with plenty of grab-rails and a fold out shower-seat. The facilities were clean and nicely presented, and my parter assures me that the gents was just as nice.
The washing up area was great with hot and cold water on tap, and the burger van meant that when my partner came back from the morning walk with the dog, he came complete with cooked breakfast! We drove through to Fylingthorpe for dinner at the Grosvenor, where well-behaved dogs are permitted in the bar, and bar meals are served until 9pm. Disabled badge holders - bear in mind that Scarborough Council do not exempt disabled drivers from car park fees, so ensure you have some change to hand for the machine.
The campsite has a request for quiet between 11pm and 7.30am which was adhered to, and made for very peaceful nights! There are some great areas for dog walks nearby, although the area is not easy for an attendant or self-propelled wheelchair.

Just got back from Middlewood after a 3 day break, it is a lovely site within easy walking distance of 'the Fylingdales Inn' nice pint of cask John Smiths. A short walk into robin hoods bay. The shower block looks pretty new. Nice level pitches, the owners are very friendly and helpful, cash back for a 50p charge. The Victoria hotel in RHB has a beer garden that on a nice day the view across the bay to ravenscar I challenge anyone to beat, (mind blowing). The dolphin down the bank in RHB does delicious grub and very reasonable. The price for the campsite is quite good as well. (£53 for three nights 2 adults 1 mutt and ehu). Nearly forgot, the site has 'the great griddler' an on site grub truck. Any thing from a full English to curry and chips.Ideal for a sunday morning hangover. Lol.

HILLS! STEEP STEEP LONG HILLS to this site and our volvo v70 was in 1st gear for the 2 miles all the way back out so bear this in mind, its not for the underpowered outfit or the faint hearted!
The site is well organised with a professional welcome/reception area, clear instructions and printed sheets etc though no shop on site (bakers and general store 5 mins walk away), all hard standing caravan pitches well spaced and a large tent field further up and an overflow tent field, the printed sheets say no ball games/bikes etc so not really a kids site, though there are some swings etc round on the static site across the way. Shower/toilet blocks are modern but seem small with the size of tent and tourer fields, we were mid week off season and it was fairly busy!. Sadly the toilet blocks were not regularly cleaned at all, both ladies and mens had a bucket of mucky water and mop to presumably encourage users to clean up instead which with dirty shower floors is not good enough really.
Freeview tv is a total no no but with a caravan aerial (set vertically not horizontally by the way) just good old bbc1/2 itv and channel4 down here and no radio 2 (which could be a blessing!)
The walk (take your picture map as its not well signed and a bit confusing) across the field down (down again!) to robin hoods bay is trainer/boots rugged with several stiles to cross and some muddy field, not for prams or toddlers etc!
The lower by the sea village has pubs and a chippy and shops and access to a beach at last but this bit of the village is tiny and only accessible on foot by this path or drive around 2 miles from the site to a car park at top of hill/upper village, after that its no cars and on foot only and a 1/4 mile walk down the steepest hill i.Ve ever seen(1 in 3, like stairs at home possibly steeper) you would need to be really keen for a pint !.
Up the top of fylingthorpe village the Fylingdales Inn is really nice newly done inside, good beer, limited but top notch menu food and 5 mins relatively flat walk to site and recommended.
The on site chefs cooking wagon offers good grub (steaks/curry/scampi) for £5-6 each and 30sec walk! and breakfast at weekends, a good choice if you cant be bothered to cook or get ready and go out.
Nice place, will go back, not 5 stars as advertised but certainly 4, seems more adults orientated than kids if that's your bag.

Excellent camp site although it was closed due to flooding when we arrived.Very accommodating once the site was dry and extremely helpful and polite staff.
We stayed in our small tent and were given our pitch location by one of the site wardens.
Sheltered from the strong winds next to the large hedge around the field - it was ideal.
'Great Griddler' van serving how food was available at limited times but had an excellent range of food at very good prices.
Good, easy walking distance to Robin Hoods Bay and lots of other walks nearby to eve more lovely little hideaways.A little precarious walking back to our tent in the dark as lighting on the pitch site is limited.
Very good local shop with good stock and the site facilities were really clean, warm and convenient.
Tip - try not to need a shower first thing in the morning as there were even queues for the wash basins.
We had a fantastic time and we will definitely be staying at Middlewood Farm again

Admittedly not been for a few years but can still comment on location as had been visiting this every year since I was three (now 29!)
Beautiful spot, brilliant walk down to the bay through the fields, brings you out next to the chip shop. What more could you ask?
Go in summer, there's always a good thunderstorm.
Doubt if you you can still get cans of ginger beer from the farmhouse for 10p and the kittens will all be grown up, but this is a wonderful site. Highly recommend for families, (very) small groups and couples.
