It is the location that makes this site - situated in the lovely village of Fylingthorpe, adjacent to Robin Hoods Bay. RHB is about 15 minutes stroll away, there are cracking sea views from just beyond the site and an old railway track bed provides perfect walks along the coast. In addition there is a handy village store and pub about five mins walk away - both recommended.
The location is so perfect, it perhaps does mask one or two limitations of the site. It was very crowded upon our visit and our motorhome was squeezed in next to a small car park and tent. Also the smell was rather ripe - but hey, its a farm after all.
When we inspected the caravan field - again this looked a little cramped. At £26 for one night (four people, one motorhome) not cheap either. However, the facilities are good - excellent toilet block and the usual washing up, reception, etc. The site also does take away food, although we didn't try this.
All in all a pleasant stay in a wonderful location and will probably return, although not during the busy summer season.

We stayed here for 4 days and thought the site was very good. We were shown to our pitch by the warden who told us how they liked the tents to be positioned, unfortunately we were unable to park our car in front of our tent as it only just fitted on to the pitch (with the windbreak on).
The toilet/shower blocks are the best we have seen, always clean with plenty of hooks to hang your stuff. The addition of a folding seat in the shower cubicle is great for sitting toddlers on or to place your clothes on whilst showering. A mop and bucket is provided so that you can mop the floor after you have showered which meant they were always clean. Free hairdryers what a first! and piped local radio 24/7 was quite a nice addition.
Washing up area very good with information on local attractions and plate racks provided. We were on main field with ehu and the pitches were level. Would not really want to be on the family field next to the working farm as at times it could be rather smelly.
The 10 minute walk to Robin Hood Bay was very nice though somewhat steep. The 'Griddler' was a great idea for those who didn't want to cook or go out for tea, the food was very nice and priced competitively. Open most evenings and food cooked to order.
The local pub was nice but the food was not as nice as I had expected for the price, but it may have just been an off day. Stunning views as you approach the village but not sea views from the park itself. Whitby worth a visit and only 6 miles away. Overall a nice site would recommend

Ended up here after doing the coast to coast in the summer and wanting to relax and chill after a long hike this was not a ideal campsite. It was very loud think its more of a family campsite so not ideal place to chill. I found it unfriendly and over priced for a backpacker with no car.
There are showers, toilets, sinks, Washing and drying machines, All of which was very clean but that's not every think. There was nothing special about the place ok I guess if your a family.

Just back from our 2nd 3 night break at this site and have booked to go again in 2 weeks time. On arrival the staff in reception are pleasant and helpful and the warden helps you to site your caravan if necessary. Toilet block and showers very clean with hot water.
Very busy with both tents and caravans but incredibly well organised on all levels.
Washing up facilities excellent.
I have 2 energetic Labradors who love water and this is a perfect site for them. Great walk into the Bay and easy access to beach.
Had one meal in The Bay Hotel which was very good and reasonably priced.
No complaints at all but would advise a long electric hook up cable ( as can be far away from point ) and hard standing pegs if you have an awning, metal ones took forever to get in.
This break helped by superb weather.

Visited this site in the Easter Holidays, and with only a couple of days notice we got a booking, which surprised me as practically every other campsite in the area was fully booked.
The site seemed a little pricey (£23/night with electric hookup) but the facilities were clean and the site well-kept. There were hot showers available for free, which shut off after five minutes but we discovered (whilst getting dry, naturally) that after 3mins the motion sensor resets and if you move towards the shower, it starts again - moral of the story is, don't stand under the shower whilst getting dried.
The toilets were very clean, well lit and had free hairdryers etc in the block. Washing-up facilities were generally clean, although some campers seemed to forget that it's only good manners to clean up your mess in the bottom of the sink and not leave it for the next person to do.
We were in the field furthest away from the entrance, which was very peaceful and didn't get too much traffic. The family field seemed very crowded and we were glad we didn't get put in there. When we arrived it seemed they had been reseeding some of the pitches and they asked us to move a bit further out than we should have been, which was more than a stretch for our electric cable. Site staff offered to hire us a longer lead, for a deposit of £30 - although I sympathised with the need for a deposit, I wasn't too happy about this as neither of us had enough cash on us to pay for this, as we had no prior warning that this would be needed. Fortunately we came to an arrangement where we moved a bit closer, which meant we could use our own lead.
The site was generally quiet apart from the building noise in the field right next door - it started very early, and spoiled the 'sounds of nature' you normally get from early mornings in a tent. This may have stopped by now though, and apart from that we had no complaints.
The site has a small children's' play area but it's not very large - although we went out for plenty of long walks (didn't manage to catch Boggle Hole with the tide out though!) the play area would have been good for evenings, but it wasn't really very engaging, I'd like to see some improvements here when we go back.
Surrounding area very beautiful - lovely long walks, although the short cut across the fields to RHB shown on the website is officially closed til August due to a landslide. Robin Hoods Bay is very picturesque, although to call the beach 'rugged' is an understatement!
Don't leave without trying some of the lovely icecreams from the van on the beach, and the gorgeous fish and chips from the shop just around the corner. For some decent paddling we'd recommend another beach, Whitby's very close, Scarborough not much further, but RBH isn't really great. Having said that, it's worth investing in a net and rockpooling - watch for the tide though, it really does move remarkably fast and could cut you off very easily I'd imagine.
Overall a very pleasant holiday from a lovely little site - incidentally, if you don't know the area and your satnav takes you through Littlebeck, you might want to alter your course - I bet mountain goats would have problems making it up and down the sheer hills and single track lanes there!

We stayed here for the weekend and had a fantastic time. 2 adults, two children and a baby. Pitch was a decent size and the facilities (showers, toilets, laundry) were all of a good standard.
There is a nice walk into Robin Hoods Bay itself through the fields and a good bus service to Whitby and Scarborough. The pub in the village (Fylingdale Inn or something similar) is child friendly with excellent food and 10-15 mins walk away. We will definitely be back!

Spent 3 nights at this campsite for the bank holiday weekend. Loved it. Great facilities & very clean. They do pack a lot of pitches into the fields which we found a bit off putting when we arrived on the Friday evening but we needn't have worried. The organisation of the pitches by the wardens was excellent, we have a large tent and had plenty of room. In fact, despite the number of pitches, the campsite was very peaceful (except for the rain and high winds of the bank holiday weather!) The field we were put in (Square Field) was a bit exposed so do pack your extra tent pegs if bad weather is forecast.
Nice wash up area with an informative noticeboard and posters about the locality. Good, clean and warm toilets/showers with hairdryers too and a bathroom (cost £1) which we used to bath our two boys and 18wk old baby together. There were a few queues at peak times but nothing you wouldn't expect for a bank holiday. We avoided the obvious busy times for the showers & managed to get one straight away or within a few minutes.
Robin Hoods Bay is lovely, with none of the usual seaside tackiness. Ate out twice, at The Victoria Hotel (top of the hill) and The Dolphin down in the village. Good food at both. Also had very nice fish and chips near the beach. Visited Whitby for a day where there is lots to do, highlight for our boys was a tour on Elizabeth the Steam Bus.
On a negative note the site did seem a bit pricey, £29 pn for a tent with 2 adults, 2 children, 1 baby & 1 dog; but this wouldn't put us off returning as it was so well organised and clean.
We loved our weekend and will definitely stay at Middlewood Farm again and recommend it to friends.

We have just got back from 2 nights camping for the bank holiday. We turned up quite early Saturday morning as you cannot pre-book but we managed to get a slot. They opened extra fields so there was plenty room, although in some areas they are packed in like sardines.
The shower blocks are always full and people were complaining that they had to queue a long time (I think that there is not enough facilities for the amount of campers during bank holiday)
There is a take-away van on site so if you don't want to cart all your Kitchen then you can get drinks and hot food, quite reasonably priced. You can walk to Robin Hoods Bay from the site it takes about 15 minutes. There is a small children's play area, but for smaller children I would think.
We visited the Fylingdales public house a few times during our stay as the weather was awful, it is a quaint pub with a small family area. It is 10 min walk from the site. There is also a general store that sells most essentials and lovely fresh meat from the local butcher. Had a taxi to Whitby which cost £9.00 we thought was a very good price.
I have read lots of reviews about the Whitby/Robin Hoods Bay area, if you've never been it can get very very windy! Make sure you take extra poles and plenty of tent pegs!
Although there was a tremendous amount of people it was very quite, the wardens would go round and warn anyone being loud after 11pm.

Wonderful site, excellent facilities clean showers & toilet block and food bar, good food excellent value for money (great breakfast). Owners very welcoming and friendly, ready to answer any and all queries.
Tents sited away from main road very quiet at night no disturbances.
Very close to quaint seaside town of robin hoods bay. Very steep walk down to beach though we are hoping to return very shortly.

We really liked this site. It is situated within walking distance of Robin Hoods Bay nestled in the lea of the rising ground from the sea. The site is flat and well drained. The owner was very helpful.
The toilet facilities are modern and well kept. You can order takeways and breakfast from reception although we didn't take advantage of this service. If you are going on bank holidays there is a minimum nights stay if you require hook up.
A deposit is required for electric hook up pitches. There is a surcharge for extra large tents. This wasn't a problem for us but your tent size will be required when booking-enquiring. We paid £12 a night for 2 x car and tent extra bodies are £3 but under 3s go free. Having said that this is a site which is well worth coming back to.
Fylingthorpe is a lovely village with shop and pub and the walk down to Robin Hoods Bay is quite easy on a well maintained public footpath.
There is a children's playground on site with sturdy play equipment. We only stayed two nights but intend to return in the near future. Definitely my favourite in this area.
