We attempted to book for the adult only section of this site but were told that it didn't operate in high season. We had a nice pitch with EHU which was spacious. We arrived just after 5pm and had a bit of a job to raise anyone to book us in, when we did the welcome was lukewarm, they drew a cross on the map and sent us off to find our pitch.
Not sure if toilets and showers are cleaned very often, the same hairgrip was on the floor of one of the showers for our entire stay, like the music though.
Found that sound really carried on the site, we were kept awake well after eleven by two families camping together. The 'absolute quiet after 11pm' rule being one of many not apparently enforced.
Didn't see much of the wardens, particularly in the evenings. Didn't feel very welcome in the shop either.
On checking out we enquired about the dates that the adult only section was available, to be told that it was available all year round. When we said we were told differently one lady shrugged and a gentleman said 'oh, no, you can't go in there in a tent, it's an agreement with the caravan club, they don't like to mix with tents'. This should be made clear.

Just got back from three days at this site, our third ever camping trip.
Found the site to be friendly and clean. Shower and toilet blocks were also clean, no waiting at all (all three kids in separate showers at the same time).
As others have noted, the ground was very hard, snapped a couple of the plastic pegs and the thin metal ones provided with the tent were next to useless, bending as soon as they got a couple of inches down. We also found the site quite windy and were glad to have the windbreak to set up.
The playground area was great, the kids loved it down there and we were able to let them wander off to keep themselves occupied while we washed up, tidied up etc.
We didn't eat on the site at the snack bar or in any of the local pubs so cannot comment.

Our second visit to this site. We spent 2 weeks her in the middle of August.
Plus side the pitches are really big, the park is fab for the kids, its only a short walk into the village, there's plenty to do around the area.
Bad bits! unfortunately we found the same issues as others mentioned annoying on this visit. The toilets/showers were cleaned every day but not to a really high standard. The staff in the shop were a bit miserable. The no noise rule seems to be abolished from Friday to Sunday as the talking/shouting went well on into the early hours without anything been done!NOT GOOD!
We do have children ourselves so know its impossible to see what they are doing all the time however some children found great delight in pulling the small play houses apart without getting told off, the wardens did see this on cctv as it was going on but still didn't challenge the children or their parents!
This could and should be a great site but perhaps the owners need to take heed of the reviews more.

We visited as a group of 3 families and were all next to each other in the family field. Large and flat and open but spacious pitches.
The children loved the playground/sandpit (should have taken buckets and spades etc) and spent hours there, hence reason we hardly left the site to explore!
We were very pleased to see the cafe van, had scampi, great burgers and chips etc after pitching on Friday night, it was nice to order food, settle down and eat without having to leave. Also good looking breakfasts, tea, coffee etc, might even leave the cooking things at home next time.
Easy walk into nearby village with 3 pubs and well stocked village shop. We ate at the Plough, great variety of sandwiches and a good roast on Sundays. Small garden for kids
We found the key fob toilets etc not too much of a problem. The family bathroom with bath door was open most of time so kids could go themselves, as lock too high for 6yr olds to reach! They were clean, hot and didn't have to queue at all.
A rather large impersonal site but good facilities and location, so would go again

Excellent site - We were on the adults side of the site and it was mid week before the school holidays so, although our side was fairly full, the overall site was very quiet. I would guess that the facilities may get a bit stretched if the main part of the site was full.
Pitches were good and not too crowded, the toilet/washroom facilities were good and well maintained and the wardens were cheerful and helpful.
It is easy walking distance into village (with a selection of pubs to enjoy) and also walkable to the reservoir (a long walk but we did it there and and back again).
Would recommend this site

We arrived at the site on a wet Friday evening and I'm sorry but I felt the welcome in reception could have been a bit friendlier.
However we liked the site, a large emplacement in the rally field complete with EHU.
We had our five year old grand daughter with us and she loved what we thought was an excellent play area.
The two toilet blocks were good, loads of hot water and yes there were only a few washing up sinks but this didn't cause us any major problem.
The shop stocked some basics and had some good info' about the surrounding area. They also have a food bar serving breakfast items, snacks and in the evening fish and chips - we had those on Friday, fish very good but chips could be better.
The walk to the village was quick and easy and there you find three pubs and a post office/village store. We tried the Black Horse on the Saturday night - very comfortable, friendly staff and whilst the food wasn't the greatest it was very good value for money. We also visited the Wheatsheaf but only for a drink - pleasant garden.
Overall an enjoyable stay and we would visit again.

Easy to find and good access with a large vehicle. First impression is of a holiday camp type environment - many children in a sandpit and playground area - barriers needing a pass -printed list of rules.
Staff in reception more interested in computer system failure than meeting and greeting face to face. Pitch in adult field good - very open windy site but trees will mature.
Noise of dogs, radios and children carry across the site. Toilet block good and clean but very busy at key times eg 8am and 9pm.

Been here a couple of time and stayed in the family tent field without EHU. The field is great for small kids as you can see them playing in the play area at the end of the field and sit in your tent with a glass of something of you choosing.
Toilets and showers were always clean even when it was raining and I never queued although the key lock entry was a bit annoying. On the other hand not enough washing up sinks as I queued a couple of times and in queues of 3 or 4 people.
Would like EHU in the tent field rather than just in among the caravans because there are a lot of caravans and it is nice to be separated from them but not at the cost of the loss of EHU

We stayed here as a group of 5 families - we were allocated pitches beside/opposite each other in the Rally field which worked really well. Those on one side had hook ups, those in the middle didn't.
We really enjoyed this site due to the open expanse for the kids to play, and the playground. Site is safe enough for the kids to ride their bikes around/go to the playground/loos themselves. I found it to be reasonably clean, and the snack van very useful. The village was easy to reach with a lovely little shop and pubs. Dogs welcome.
Downsides - I agree with the other reviews that the staff were a bit cold/impersonal. More smiles and a more relaxed/friendly atmosphere would go a long way. The key to use the loos was a bit of a pain, and I don't understand why they need it as the site is not near 'passers by' who might use the loos. It was windy the first night on the field, and ground was hard, but I can't really see what they can do about this.
I would go there again as on balance I think it is a good, if basic site with everything on hand.

Visited this site for one night only and pitched on the family site. Nice level pitch, ground very very hard and a lot of tent pegs bent before we finally erected our tent. Pitches of average size, so no complaints there.
However there was only one water tap at the far end of the field in the utilities block which was really disappointing- you therefore need a decent water carrier on this site. Good play area in sand for children who loved it, although if you have kids bring a dustpan and brush because they may trail sand back to the tent/caravans.
Bad points which for us would prevent us returning to this site: On arrival required £10 deposit for the barrier which posed a problem as we didn't have the cash. When we asked if they could take cc details we were told no. We later found that they would take cc deposit, however this appeared to depend upon the willingness of the staff on reception.
We were bemused to find that to access the wc/shower block you needed to have a key! Never have we camped on a site where we had to play hunt the key whilst our children hopped from foot to foot trying not to pee in their pants!
The shower / toilet block itself was the dirtiest I have seen on a campsite. Toilet paper, hair, and general dust and dirt all over the floors, hair washbasins dirty, hairdryers broken and bits left on the work tops.
Despite the barriers to the site, the wardens obviously saw fit to allow an ice cream to drive through and round the site mid afternoon, with bells ringing- there followed the usual demands from children to parents everywhere for ice-creams.
