Have just visited and was a lovely campsite, staff very friendly and campsite very clean and spacious.
Only let down was that the church clock rang at every hour and being at the back of RAF cottesmore meant it wasn't that peaceful, however I cannot fault the actual campsite.
Walk into village was nice and enjoyed 'banger night' at The plough - would recommend it.

A really nice site with very nice wardens. The field where we stayed had steep sides which gave it a secure and safe feel to it. The play area for the kids was wonderful, with swings and a large slide. There was a play area for toddlers too, consisting of play houses, tractors and small slides.
There is an on site shop and a chip van, which comes around on a Saturday night. The showers, toilet and washing up facilities were very clean and a pleasure to use.
The walk into Greetham was nice and has a post office and some nice pubs. The nearest supermarket is in Oakham, which means a drive out.
There are nice places to visit including Rutland Waters, where bikes can be hired amongst other activities for the family

Have just returned from a week at this site and couldn’t fault it.
We didn’t have much dealing with the staff other than arrival and departure but they were very pleasant.
The pitches were spacious, we were on an all hard-standing pitch which was a first for us. The toilet blocks were always clean and well maintained and the waste water area etc was well designed. The laundry room has a good washing machine and tumble drier and a selection of tourist leaflets and magazines to read.
There is a good sized children’s play area with a separate section for under 5s and it kept the children well entertained. It is however on sand therefore it is worth getting the kids to shake themselves down before coming into the tent / caravan! There is also a large adult only area totally away from the play area with its own facilities. There is a nice dog walk, my husband said he would like it to be fully enclosed.
There is a path out of the site straight to the pretty village of Greetham where there is a village shop and post office. There are also 3 pubs although we didn’t try them. Oakham is about 10/15 minutes drive away and is a pretty town, there is a brand new Coop supermarket on the outskirts and a Tesco in the centre. Rutland Water is about 15 minutes drive away.
My only comment about the site is that on the all gravel pitches with the awnings up there isn’t really anywhere nice to sit out as it’s a bit like a car park. However had it have been wet then I’m sure this would have been excellent as there would have been no mud. There are however plenty of grassy pitches around the site to choose from.

First time here and totally agree with all previous complimentary remarks for this site with regards to friendliness, cleanliness and spacious pitches. Thought one of the big plus points also was the easy access to the local village, about seven min. Walk leading to the award winning Camra pub The Plough with four real ales on and pies to die for on sun/mon eve. For anyone not wanting to drive there is a two hourly bus service to Oakham, otherwise not a lot to do here except relax. Noticed there was a cycle way on the road to Oakham but never used it and the Viking way was nearby. Paid £14 night for two with ehu.

Well we were going to book on Rutland Tranquil Parks site, but they don't open til April so we plumped to try this one, and glad we did. All in all agree with all the comments on here, the pitches are massive, enough for caravan, large awning and car on the pitch with room to spare. Pitches are all level too. It is basically 2 square fields and laid out, so that you never have to turn round and make a fool of yourself, toilets are lovely. The whole site is spotlessly clean, the toilet blocks also have a radio on which is rare, the staff are friendly. The site is very quiet, even with RAF Cottesmore next door, we only heard a harrier engine warming up on the Friday, and then nothing - complete quiet.
The dog walk is huge to what we have been on and its like an orchard, rows and rows of trees for the dogs to run round, and our Kara found many a stick to play with. Walk diagonally through the dogwalk on the path and it takes you thru the public right of way gate into the village of Greetham, had a nice drink in one of the pubs, and dog friendly too.
The site is quite open plan type, and there isnt much there, not sure how long its been open but it seems that its not too long as the bushes and trees are still quite young, but when they have matured it will be nicer than it is, that's not a criticism just an observation. All in all we would definitely go back, Rutland Water 20 mins in the car, didn't get to the owl and falconry centre up the road so that's our next trip. It would be a great sun trap in the summer.
All I would say is that if you are on a Fully Serviced pitch make sure you have a long enough hose for both your clean water and your waste water as the unit for this is right in the corner and if you open on right hand side of caravan you wont be able to have awning up as you would need to park your van right over a bit from the middle peg for your hoses to reach the outlets.

Stayed here over the New Year.It was great! Nice big pitches, some with hardstandings. Nice clean heated loos and showers. Very helpful staff. Nice dog walking area which leads to pedestrian access to local village where there are 2 pubs that do brilliant food! Supermarket a car journey away. Local bakery 5 mins down the road. Don't miss that!
Rutland Water is well worth a visit as is Stamford. We had snow so it was very pretty. And apart from a couple of frozen taps everything worked as normal! Lovely children's play area with mini tractors. Would definitely return!

This is a big site but well run with good facilities, the village is only a short walk and there are 2 good pubs (The third pub was closed down on our visit) and a good small village shop. We went to the new years party at the village hall and were made very welcome, the pubs shut at 11-00 on new years eve as the staff all go to the village party. Handy for Ruttland Water.

This site was a little hard to find but was well worth it. We met up with my parents who were already there, the site made sure we were next to each other which was great, as my disabled son did not have far to go to visit grandparents. Lovely walks and beautiful village and friendly locals very welcoming. The village pub was also child friendly.
The site was very clean, showers and toilets immaculate. Good play area for children. A site shop stocks the essentials. There was also a fish and chip van that came on site which was great. We had a lovely 3 days would definitely go back, we all had a lovely relaxing time

We have just returned from a weekend break at Rutland Caravan Park. What a superb campsite. The owners were so welcoming and the site was very secure. There was a shop on site which sold the basics and you could pre order your bread from a local bakery at the shop. The pitches were very level and the site felt spacious. The village was a short walk through a little path, bring a torch for nightime. The Plough pub in the village did excellent food and it was run by very friendly, helpful staff.
The shower and toilet blocks were spotlessly clean, showers free and very modern. The shower cubicles were spacious and even had a stool !
The play area for the children was great, a huge sandpit where our children had hours of fun, meeting the other children from the campsite.
We will definitely be returning to this site as we felt so relaxed and so welcomed from the owners. SUPERB!

Hi all. I wanted to take my partner and her two children camping for their first time so me and my partner heard that Rutland Waters was very nice, we came on this site and had a look at the camping sites and this one came top and no wonder, I have camped all over Europe and this is in my top 3, reasons for this are:
1. Really nice staff (very helpful with any problems) 2. Clean site 3. Free hot showers 4. Child friendly 5. Great park for the children 6. Shower/Toilet blocks always clean and warm 7. Great local village 8. Dog friendly 9. No noise at night after 11pm 10. 4 washing up sinks under cover and well lit (not sure about block 2) 11. Plenty of room for the children to play 12. Wireless internet
We tried one of the local pubs called The Plough best pub food we have ever had by far staff really helpful and nice raised beer garden with a Pimms shed at the top of it.
We enjoyed our stay here so much we booked another night which was no problem, also we are looking to go back to this site in just a few weeks. Also you can pre order fresh bread from the site office made in the local bakery, its so nice we brought 5 loaves home that's how good it is. We also managed to find the bakery and get our own before we left its only 3 miles down the road in Exom, take a right out of the site then when you get to the main road take a right an follow the signs to Exom, its on the left not very easy to spot.
