We have now been to this site twice! The facilities are second to . NONE!
The drainage of this site excellent, the only dis-advantage of this is that very stony toget pegs in when tenting.
!REMEMBER THE MALLET!
All facilities are clean, plenty of Hot water in both showers and taps, wardens helpful and pleasant.

An excellent, friendly site with some of the cleanest and most modern facilities I have come across. The radio playing in the showers is something all sites should consider!
The only negative points are:-
1) Very windy due to site being so open
2) Very hard rocky ground - bring a big mallet and spare pegs
3) Shop should stock more general groceries
4) An RAF Harrier taking off at 11pm is kinda loud!
5) Sand in the play area seems a good idea until your kids empty their shoes in the tent
Apart from these minor gripes I would thoroughly recommend the site and will be returning next year.

We have just come back from this site, two adults and 3 children, I have to say that the site is very clean, with level pitches, as everyone has already mentioned, the ground is quite stony but nothing major and it is quite windy. The shower blocks seem new and are spotless. The camp shop doesn't really stock anything and feel that they could do well for themselves, and a benefit to ourselves, if they provided this facility. The pitches are well laid out with plenty of space and the kids loved the play area. Access is by means of a security coded electric gate. The village is about a 5/10 minute walk away and has 3 excellent pubs, the Plough nearby was particularly friendly. There is only a very small shop in the village, which has a post office inside as well, it was fine for the basics. A few things to mention and must add this doesn't detract from the site, just worth mentioning. The site is next to an airbase and on the Friday there was considerable noise from the jets, however, it has to be said they were fascinating to watch, especially when the Lancaster bomber and the spitfire came over. They don't fly at weekends so it wont really be a problem. There is an ice cream van that comes round everyday, no problem there. However, if you have the pitches nearest to the blocks, I think it was 121, 120, that row, you will be affected by a chip van that turns up on a Saturday tea time. We were sat outside on its arrival but had to vacate due to the noise of its onboard generator, it didn't look the cleanest either, I don't know about the food as we didn't try it, nor were we told about it on our arrival. Just a pointer, anywhere else on the site and it wont affect you in the slightest. Overall I would give this site a 98% cent, the latter items I mentioned really weren't that much of a problem and didn't have any real effect on our stay at all. Just something I feel needs pointing out. I would go back there without reservation and would recommend to anyone.

We had an excellent B/H weekend at this site. Very clean, attentive staff, spotless facilities - hot, hot water all day and night!, play area with sand pit enjoyed by our 5 & 8 yr old. Perfect for visiting Historic Stamford (ASK Italian restaurant - very good) etc.Etc. Village pubs are very good (Real Ale) but get there early or book as they soon fill up with campers and (the Black Horse) wouldn't take food orders after 8pm :0( We will return to this site again.

Large pitches, helpful wardens, very clean showers/loos, excellent children's playground - probably the best site I have ever stayed in. Very flat site, so exposed to the elements meaning that it is quite a challenge to pitch a tent when the wind gets up. The only negative point is the site shop - lots of chocolate & ice-cream but not much else; a few basic items would have been nice. Greetham has a village shop which is only a 5 minute walk from the site though, and 3 pubs which all serve food although we didn't try them. Only a 10 minute drive from Rutland Water which has a safe, fairly gentle cycle path all the way round (my 6 & 8 year olds managed it) with several nice pubs on the way. Several car parks round the water with nearby children's playgrounds. We'll definitely be going back.

We just came back from this site (myself, husband and baby) and it was also our first camping trip ! We had a fab weekend - helped of course by the gorgeous sunshine we had. The site is well planned out and is very easy to settle. Washing up, shower/toilet and refuse facilities were all very clean. Bin areas emptied daily. Showers maintained all thru the day and night and one thorough clean for an hour daily.with another block for use if needed. Secure entrance and free draining soil. Our only criticism was that the ground was a little hard for getting our pegs in - hit stone more often than not.! But not a big criticism. Would definitely go back. We had a meal at the Wheatsheaf - very nice food.

What a wonderful clean site. The showers and toilet block spotless and plenty of hot water. There is a small play area for children and at the bottom of the park a walk into the local village which is very nice. Nearby is Rutland water and Oakham which has some very nice coffee shops and deli's. The weekend we went the weather was awful and would recommend the use tie down straps for your awing the wind really howled around and at times I felt the awing was ready to take off. Although this slight downside I would return here again.

Ditto what everyone else has said! An excellent site with very good facilities. A few points worth mentioning; * The site is quite exposed so if its a bit on the windy side expect it to be very windy on the site. * The church bell chimes all night. Didn't bother us at all but may some so worth a mention. * Adults only field. This is sensibly separated from the family field by a huge caravan/camping field. * Generous sized dog walking area. * Pitches very flat but ground very stony. Its quite difficult to get the pegs in in places. * Ice cream van visited every day we were there! * Fantastic, safe children's play area. * Site 'shop' too small for size of site. It had a superb selection of ice creams and chocolate/snack bars but not enough of the essentials. Will definitely be going back and would recommend without hesitation!

We visited this site after reading the good reviews and I must say we wasnt disapointed. The site was VERY clean and the toilet and shower blocks were very clean, hot running water and hair dryers. Plenty of room in the showers for me and our little one and most of all there were always plenty of toilet paper! On the site its self there is a lovely play area for young and older children. There is a handy path that leads you into the village in the far corner of the camp site. Once in the village there is a post office and we found 3 lovely pubs all with nice beer gardens! Near by is the village of Oakham. This village is stunning and has many things to offer without spending to much money. You wont be disapointed if you take a camping holiday here.
