April 2005 Arrived at site and owners very friendly. Site is lovely and flat and well drained (as it poured down Saturday morning and ground was dry by the afternoon). Toilet block warm and clean, did have to queue for showers but it was a busy weekend. Owners kept apologising about the toilet and showers not being cleaned as often as usual but they were fine at all times we used them and they were in constant use.
Even though a bank holiday it didn't seem at all overcrowded and our children soon made friends with others. Small play area for children up to about 5 or 6 and there are plans for a play area for older children. Word of warning there is a large sandpit filled with dark red sand and my 2 were covered within 2 minutes as was the tent and all it contents!!!! (Mind you Aerial worked wonders).
Pleasant walk into village with 3 pubs and local shop (closed Saturday afternoons). We went to the Sun Inn in Cottesmore (next village) and it was excellent. We (11 of us) arrived 5 minutes before they stopped serving food but they were very welcoming and the food was excellent and very well priced.
Fantastic part of the country and we will definately be returning. All in all good weekend on a family friendly site.

February 2005 Pretty good site , showers & toilets were very clean. The owner is a very nice gent who will help with any probs you have if any. The only drawback is the aircraft noise from the local airfield but this ceases about 7.00 pm There are 3 good pubs down the village & a great theme park for the under 11s about 20 min drive plus there's Rutland Water about 15 min drive - great for cycling & walking

October 2004 Very quiet site for a long weekend of relaxation. Some areoplane noise on weekdays, but not that bad! Excellent facilities, lovely shower block very new, warm and clean "oodles" of hot water and free! Could do with some more shrubs for wind protection as the weekend we were there the wind was gale force and torrential rain! The site is well drained and lovely and flat for caravans. Three pubs in village just a walk through a small wooded area, one pub has a more expensive menu, but the Wheatsheaf has good pub food at good pub prices and a nice atmosphere. We will be back next summer as we enjoyed it so much.

July 2004 What a fabulous site! There was a group of five of us and we were all able to camp next to each other. The site in my opinion does not resemble a car park lots of plants and hanging baskets and the toilets were cleaned on a regular basis. The village was lovely with three good pubs within a 10 minute walk, and Oakham was only a ten minute drive for a decent supermarket. I would definately go again, and give it 9/10.

July 2004 Very nice well run and friendly site. Level ground and very nice toilet block with 3 very nice showers. Toilet block has radio playing, which was very nice whilst having a shower as it was easy listening music.
There is a pub within easy walking distance of the site which does nice meals.
I would definitely go to the site again.

July 2004 Very convienient site, close to A1 and nr to Rutland Water and Barnsdale Gardens (a 'must see'). Site well laid out with level pitches. We had plenty of room as there were only 6 of us on site (mid-week). Dog walk close by which is handy when Rover has his legs crossed after a long journey! Site is fairly well maintained although could have done with some more shrubbery, planting as it does resemble a car park. Excellent security with wardens on the gate at all times. Toilets were adequate but could have been cleaned more regularly; weren't cleaned at all during our 3 day stay. No privacy cubicles for washing. 4 showers + 4 toilets (ladies) a bit disproportionate. Only 2 'sit-downs' in Gents! I suppose we have been spoiled with other less-basic sites but we would return. We give this one 7/10.

May 2004 What a lovely surprise!
The signs weren't great when we set out - the whole region beset by thoroughly miserable weather.
But on arriving at this cracker of a site, we were given a lovely welcome by the wardens who were only too pleased to show us to a gravel standing pitch that we'd pre-arranged on the phone earlier. First-timers as motorcaravanners we were relieved about having a hard standing since it never helps the nerves having to be towed out of a boggy pitch. But as it happened even the grassy pitches were extremely well kept and posed absolutely no problems to those more daring than us.
This campsite's location is excellent, just a couple of minutes' walk down a a well-lit footpath to the village where three great pubs awaited. We ate in the one closest to the footpath and had a fabulous meal and there were three or four real ales on to accompany this top nosh.
Back on the site, a nice and new set of washrooms were a great boon, as was the local radio station which was piped in and provided a pleasant diversion while you pooed or showered.
Nice little play area for the bairns (who we didn't hear at all during our stay - which was nice) and free range eggs available. Disposable BBQs welcome and things available to balance them on.
We paid £12 including electricity. Lovely one-night stay, won't hesitate to return to take full advantage of all the cycling and walking opportunities afforded by this very picturesque area close to Rutland Water and just six miles from Oakham, home to a cracker of a brewery, Grainstore, and legion pubs.

March 2004 Open site laid out around central ameneties block. Toilets & showers very clean. Piped local radio was a nice touch. Hand-soap and hair drier supplied. Small enclosed childrens play area. The 2 in our group seemed quite happy with it. Local farmer owns site and is available by phone and visits morning and late afternoon. The weekend we visited there was no noise from nearby RAF Cottesmore. Very handy for the A1. We would use this site again. 5 minute footpath walk from site to the first of 3 village pubs. The first one, the Plough, was the only one open on a Saturday afternoon. Children welcome, food at lunch & dinner, not in between. Village shop closed Saturday afternoon.

July/August/September 2003 We put our van on this site for a couple of months this summer. Friends and family have all used it and universally praised the site. Toilet block is good and it is well connected to the village which has 3 pubs although one was closed for rennovation this summer.
Access to lovely market town 'Oakham' and Rutland Water is also easy.
Site is level, well drained and quiet during the week although it does get 'lively' at the weekends.
